It kinda depends on how the claws are attached to the hand and how they grow. Maybe they are already fully grown. Then again with a healing factor its not like it matters.

Gabby's like 5'0 and already has claws about the same size as Laura's.

Comic Laura has claws about 3/4ths the length of her forearm as an adult and little 4 inch claws in her origin comic Innocence lost.

I could have sworn she even had them torn out at one point. Not sure if she just shoved them back in or what, but I would think having them coated, but still growing would leave a length of bone at the base of the claw. Would probably make that an easy break point, assuming she strikes something as tough as her claws.

Well she wasn't that young when it happened in the comics.

If I remember it right, they ripped out her claws to coat them in adamantium then reinserted them, rather than having some process of doing it and leaving her intact like what was done with Logan

She also got de-limbed one time when she was in X-Force and she had to give the severed claws to someone for safe keeping.

Never explained in either case how a set of claws could be reinserted/reattached without her growing new bone claws in the time they were missing. Probably better to just not try and explain it.
