Westaboos aren't real, unless if you count people from shitty countries (mainly the middle East, desi region, poor brown rice Asian countries, etc.) that view America as a promised land. From their perspective, they're right.

Sometimes Japanese people have a high opinion of America, and many enjoy Spongebob, but there are no Japanese people who act like the mirror world version of Weeaboos.

I think Japanese culture both enables fringe fandoms and keeps them out of view. They respect privacy and give people a lot of leeway in what they do on their own time, in their own subcultures. They are very good at self-organizing, and don't fight each other for space.

They also don't care for pot-stirring attention-seekers or outspoken weirdos, and ostracize and ignore them. On the other hand, we tend to mock our ***-boos in public, which just gives them more of the attention they crave.

There are Japanese fans of western animation or comics only. They are every bit as nerdy as weaboos. They just don't act insecure about it and defend their hobby everywhere they are.

This is a good post. I can imagine someone like pic related being in a room full of Todd MacFarlane figurines, Marvel/DC posters, Spongebob plushies. That feels a little plausible. It's more amusing to picture a room full of Family Guy and Johnny Test memorabilia, but I feel safer knowing that isn't a thing.
