I never saw this show before, but the trailer for season 5 got me interested so I started watching. Holy fuck, how has a show this good slipped past me before? The sense of pacing, action, and atmosphere is virtually unmatched in the medium. Every episode feels like a movie. This is literally one of the greatest shows of all time.

This moment, when Jack kills all the robots and bathes in their oil, was when I knew I was watching something special.

Yeah, I feel like a kid would be bored with this show. Lots of slow, dialogue-less scenes of Jack walking around. I love those, but I can't imagine a lot of seven year olds eagerly awaiting the next episode of Jack taking a stroll and saying nothing.

I actually think that's gonna be the 'twist' ending. He defeats/destroys Aku but before he vanishes, he taunts Jack with this fact. Instead of going back to his own time, Jack stays in the future and helps rebuild the world to make it better instead of abandoning it.

Given how dark this season is going to be we'll probably get a Future Trunks scenario where it's revealed you can change the past but it won't effect the established timeline. So Jack just has to live immortal forever in post-Aku earth with no purpose left.

I hope they don't lose some of the lighthearted moments when transitioning to Adult Swim. Yes, people love Samurai Jack because of the action and the incredible pacing, but it's also really fucking funny and there's a lot of whimsy that balances the serious.

I am 100% behind the switch to Adult Swim and the freedom they have with that though, regardless of what happens. I'm prepared that we're probably not going to get something that resembles the original 1:1.

I'd be more than okay with this ending. Jack seems to be in a state of depression over not being able to get back, and it would be nice for him to accept that the people in the future CAN be saved so he needs stop moping over those he can't.

Of course, I wouldn't mind Genndy playing it straight and having him go back also. Either ending would work.

What if since Jack isn't aging, Aku is aging, and it's the reason he's taking more drastic measures to take him down, since he thinks by killing him, he'll get his immortality back.

I mean, from the look of the trailer, Aku's never actually put this much effort into getting Jack killed. He put's bounties on him, sends mook robots after him, but he's honestly always been content to let him live either as not a threat (when he loses his memories and becomes a sailor), or just in case he needs him for something (female Aku episode).

Well I'm assuming since it's a miniseries, presumably the series finale, and it's all been built around Jack being at his lowest it'd be a bit more focused on Jack regaining himself and doing away with Aku. While probably not hard continuous plot it'd be more tonally and plot connected than previously. So something like Jack having wacky hijinks isn't going to happen.
But I'm being presumptuous.
