It was exactly ten yearsand a daytoday. Coming off a three-part retelling of Jonah Hex's origin, Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray were joined by Phil Noto in a two-issue arc that introduced a brand new character to the hallowed pantheon of DC's western stars.
Now, a decade, a relaunch and a cancellation later, let's take a moment to celebrate the life and times of the deadliest eye in the west. From V2 to All-Star Western and beyond, this is... The Complete Ballad of Tallulah Black!

Those two issues are collected in the third TPB, called Origins. That said, I strongly recommend getting as much Hex in your life as humanly possible.

You think for the Jonah Hex movie they ever even considered having a scarred up Tallulah?
>>89760804
>>89760829
>>89760813
Not for a single second. From day one it was super clear that Fox's character was all-new, and there's an interview in the Jonah Hex: No Way Out TPB where Palmiotti says he got a call late on production asking if he'd like to have Tallulah on the movie.
So I imagine it was a lame attempt at courting Hex fans(all twelve of us)by name-dropping a recent character. Useless.
>>89760496
Yeah
Grabbed the Welcome To Paradise first first issues of Hex
And while my budget is slow and my interests are wide, I doubt that trade will be the only Hex I'll own.

So what y'll opinion on Palmiotti recent work?
I know he does Harley and I think he did half of Batwing? I forget if he did anything else N52.
>>89761309
>>89761342
>>89761337
I haven't really touched any of it, to be honest. Maybe one or two of the Harley issues, mostly on account of the artists. They seem harmless, dumb fun I guess. Nothing terribly substantial about them.
I did read Justin Gray's latest Lone Ranger miniseries though, and that felt like a nice return of sorts.
>>89761399
Oh yeah, he also did GI Zombie, which was decent enough, but a bit too decompressed and not really what I hoped for. Much more of a spy thriller than an actual war book.

I'm happy they ended up together at end of Allstar Western.
It had to get a lil weird and do some timetravel, but Jonah Hex had a happy ending that didn't feel forced.
A christmas miracle.
>>89761532
Ha Ha, time for the (nearly) All-Fight Issue!
>>89761570
>>89761559
It's so weird, because on paper it sounds like such a terrible idea.
>We're going to rewrite the one constant in Jonah Hex's life and we're going to shove our OC into it while we're at it!
But after years of telling his story with the Damocles' Sword of that ending hovering over his head, it did feel a bit nice to know there's one universe where things ended in a different way.

And that's about it for Six-Issue War. The rest of the run would go back to the one and two issue stories that made it famous, and there'd be no more long Hex arcs until the New52.
Our next stop is issue 50, but that one's a beast that clocks in at almost 40 pages, so I'm gonna have to start a new thread for it. But first, I gotta go handle some business, so consider this your interlude.
Here's some Art Adams to tide you over. Be right back!
>>89762830
Still going through the thread, but just wanted to say Thanks for the storytiming.
Once I get home I'm gonna find the whole run and have it on tablet to read anytime I want.
It'll right next to the Grimjack, and the 100 Bullets, and the other 600 issues in backlogged comics that keeps growing cause I can't seem to find the time to read more than 25-50 comics a week.
Damn Overwatch.
