I think once Thor left him in Asgard and removed himself from his life because of what he did to Kid Loki kind of sent him to a downward spiral.

Not being like the old Loki was a big motivation to not go evil for both Kid Loki and this new Loki but they both always acknowledged that being hated by everyone made it harder for them.

But the fact that Thor loved them was also a giant emotional support, so much that Kid Loki was willing to fuck people over if it meant Thor would still be alive when he fought the Serpent.

Thor doesn't like the current Loki, he hates him for killing Kid Loki but he also couldn't bring himself to kill him because it was still Loki. So he did the worst thing he could do to him which is forsake him.

And without any friends or anything he might even grow more bitter.

That said I still don't think he will go full villain, but he might antagonize Thor.

The point is that Odin wanted a powerful baby, a baby that was stronger than the average Asgardian so he fucked Gaea who is one of the oldest and most powerful Gods (and mother to many Gods because she is the Earth godess in all pantheons) to get said baby.

It's also why Thor gets a power boost everytime he's on earth and why he can earthbend.

Oh yeah and in the original myths she was his mother too.

Thor knows Gaea is his biological mother and even calls on her sometimes when he needs her help but Freyja is the one who raised him and the one who he has a lot of affection for so she is the one he thinks about as his mother.
