Just look at the barbarian dude in the 2nd panel. He was clearly a wimp before Incubus worked his magic on him. So he really did become some beefed-up battle monster. Sure, he looks hella weathered now, but the muscles are still there.

And you can see from all their foreheads that they're emissaries, so they definitely do have REAL power backing them up. Each and every one of them has a key.

I don't know if they're dependent upon Incubus to have the AMBITION to properly use those keys, or if they still do have the strength to use the keys, but have developed an emotional dependency and insecurity without whatever it is Incubus gives them, but I'd say they aren't weak at all.

But because they failed.

Initially, I'd hoped he'd developed a bioengineered way to restore his youth, but kept growing as a result. Seriously, I find the Nedroid comparisons far more hilarious than I should.

The figure that currently goes by the name Wu is a floating bundle of rags with that have a seemingly endless trail of various words in various tongues written upon them, spinning off into the distance behind a Golden mask.

Behind the mask and rags is a Crimson Devil who cleverly paints his mask Gold every morning, attempting to trade of his many names by wit and treachery before his true color shows. Only that isn’t true.

What is really behind the swirling words is a human Sorcerer who has consumed so many Devil Liqueurs that the dark flame burns unnaturally hot for a Human, and a Devil’s mask became stuck to his shade. Which is naturally ridiculous falsehood.

Wu is an Angel in disguise, using simple enchantments, cloth, and a mask to carry out their duties without drawing undue attraction from the Thorns. Also a lie.

There is a living Bright God underneath there, Un-Vedma, and she is such that she cannot be Known. She walks among the mortals and servants on some unKnowable journey for an unKnowable purpose. Absurd, of course.

Whatever the case, no one is quite sure who or what Wu is, which is a feat in and of itself. Wu is a traveling seller of Untruth, a masterful crafter of things that are Not. Most customers receive a lie at no charge for their first visit, which they do not know that they did not need until they do not need it, or do. Such things are known by Wu to be factually untrue, which is the truth of it.

Riddles unraveled, prophecies broken, Wu is a collector of these things, and for such a bit of misunderstanding, Wu will trade the simplest white lie or the most impossible boast, whichever is either required, needed, or requested. Wanted or not, Wu knows what you do not need.
