But now he's gone beyond even Snyder Supes

It does actually make sense in a weird way for Superman.
Loss is a big part of his character. His planet blew up and it was because people didn't do what they should have.
This Superman is not going to let Krypton happen to Earth.
He has the power. He can do what Jor'El never could. He can save his planet

Everyone is so easily TRICKED in this comic. Doesn't matter if they're detectives, or supergeniuses or omniscient beings, everyone always falls for everything. I'm sure in this universe you could tap Brainiac on the left shoulder while standing to his right and he'd be bamboozled as to what happened.
