I first tried it with a green-painted chair so that it, too, could be removed via chroma-key. None could fathom the horror of the flabby bikini man floating in mid-air, as though God had forsaken both man and physical laws. Madness was presumed as at least 14 viewers were reported missing from their homes, and one found at the bottom of a frozen lake.

the most popular ones are acting like ADHD children on cocaine though.

>>89704605
Only for like PewDiePie and the copy cats of that style. The shit fast paced editing adds a lot more to it. There is a more common segment, with far too many wannabe strippers with low gaming skills, who just keep playing in very little with "geek chic" being a thing.

My gf and I were talking last night about how many casuals go for something they wouldn't normally and then whine like little bitches. TWD and gore. GoT and rape. Santa Clarita and gore. Resident Evil VII and violence/gore. Fucking babies, all of them.
>>
>>89704605
>>89704666
Then you have people like SeaNanners who does well enough to not have to stream at all.
>>
>>89704740
its not about doing well enough, streams are really low effort in comparison to editing down hours of gaming footage.

eg. STAR who had a pretty succesful youtube channel but is mostly streaming now since he doesnt feel like making youtube shit now
>>
>>89704666
>>89704605

Those are youtubers, not streamers. Popular streamers tend to either be people like T2G who spend all game smashing on noobs while screaming like coked out monkeys, people who just ramble non-stop, people or are really good but never speak, and people are really good and somehow have the brain power to handle a chat stream.
>>
>>89704884
Man, I miss STAR's Basically segments. Even when it's not about video games at all.
So it's basically confirmed that his youtube channel is kill?

I'll never understand this generation that watches people play games. It's almost as bad as those Marvel videos which sum up old crossover events.
>>
>>89708096

I remember listening to a comedy panel show on BBC Radio 4 where people had to come up with the worst, most stupid, lamest ideas that they could imagine. One of the suggestions was watching other people play video games. Everybody laughed at how pointless it was.

I think for many people it's a friend substitute thing. Remember how you would visit your friend with the Playstation and how you would spend entire afternoons and weekends playing a game together? This is kinda sorta similar, only you can't take turns and the guy playing doesn't know you.

The even weirder "Watch Korean girls eat food" thing kinda has the same function.
>>
>>89708096
It's just a shittier version of going over to a friend's house and watching them play. The only upside is you don't need friends or to leave the house.
>>
>>89708420
it's the same reason why people listen to those same radio shows
the people are either knowledgeable enough on their subject to make it interesting or have entertaining enough personalities to make it fun

at least decent letsplayers don't need to stop for music/commercial breaks every 10 minutes (^:
>>
>>89708096
Socialising surrogate. See also: radio and tv talk shows and podcasts, especially those aimed at women.
>>
>>89702681
But everyone would be interested in a Gabe Newell stream without the bikini part?
>>
>>89709033
Only if he's playing pre-Alpha HL3
>>
>>89708096
How is it different from watching a sports game?
>>
>>89709108
I'll never understand that one either, desu.
>>
>>89709212
Same. At least with some video games you can watch for the plot.
>>
>Console minecraft

Why, indeed.
>>
>>89708096
It can be entertaining in the same way as MST3K if the game they're playing is particularly shitty.
>>
>>89702893
he's wearing padding to make his tits look bigger
>>
>>89708096
I don't have enough money for some games, and the commentary of some youtubers/streamers can be reasonably entertaining. so I leave Let's Plays on while I do other stuff, like playing a game I do own.

Also a Let's Play can be used as a method of "voting with your wallet" to see if you even WANT the damn game in the first place.

Sports for the most part are played by highly athletic, specialized people. 99.9% of the time, you going out and doing the same thing isn't going to be anywhere near the same level.

A video game is... a video game. Unless you're watching for the twitchy headshot purists, what's the point? You're going to have the exact same experience in any linear game, assuming you have arms to play it.

The way I see it, it is the idea of the friend surrogate, like most of YouTube's shit, or any sort of entertainer. You're a shut-in with little social skills, so you latch onto personable, popular people and feel some sort of one-way, unrequited bond with them.
>>
>>89710099
What about speedrunners?
>>
>>89710535
Those are a very different thing from let's players.
For one they don't babble through the entire video.
>>
>>89702681
lol
>>
>>89708700
This, basically. Brains are weird. Watching a person on a screen is basically the same as actually interacting with a living person. On an instinctive level our brains think actors and streamers are our actual friends.

Popular internet celebrities often have stories of fans who don't understand that it's only a one way relationship.
>>
>>89702681
Ronnie has long wanted to be the little girl
>>
>>89708700
It does have a wired effect on the brain like those children cartoons that stop and talk to the kid like if he was there with him
It's not noticeable at first but it starts acting up after a while, that's why people stuck all the way through 40 videos of someone playing a game
>>
>>89708096
Same reason people watch other people cook, fish, build stuff, look for a house, whatever. When you get down to it, it's not any weirder than watching House Hunters, a show where people you don't know look for a house you'll never enter in a part of the world you'll never go to.

Game streaming stopped except for certain exceptions (he streamed FFXI for Christmas), but he continues to stream comic-drawing twice a week for Patreons.
>>
>>89708096
Honestly looking up streamers playing games I'm interested in has replaced looking at game reviews. With YouTube you run the risk of sponsored content editing out any hitches and flaws, but watching someone play a game live gives me a better feel for what the game is than reading a plus/minus list
