It makes me sad that writers on the show spent time and even entire episodes to just shit on the fanbase of the original show. They could've listened to the criticism and reflect on how to improve the show while still maintaining their appeal to the core audience to find a balance where the show is still funny but the characters are still taken seriously in the context that they are 3 dimensional characters with thoughts, feelings and a personality and not these bastardizations that are just used as a proxy for the writers to set up a joke and deliver the punchline. Other shows were capable of having this balance of humor while still treating the characters like they're real people. Shows like Futurama, Rick and Morty, Adventure Time. Thats what sucks. This show could have been so much better if the writers just listened to feedback and applied themselves but instead they just aim for the low hanging fruit and everybody seems to celebrate and applaud them for their mediocrity.

This. Sealab 2021 shat on the fanbase all the time, and TTG is basically that but for Teen Titans.

It goes both ways too - the show takes shots at itself all the time. The one episode where a fan showed up made it clear that he was their ONLY fan, and he still preferred the original cartoon.

I've yet to hear an argument against the show's humor that was more recent than say "DUDE WAFFLES LMAO", so I legit think most haters haven't watched the show since early season 1 and just get their jimmies rustled when they hear about the once-per-season meta-humor episode, cuz they just assume the show is constantly shitting all over them?

In reality, 99% of the time, the humor comes from the Teen Titans being shat on, or shitting on themselves. It's just a version where their worst traits are comically exaggerated. It's crazy to me that /co/ will love Lego Batman but hates this.

Haven't read the comic books, haven't watched the original show, but I saw one or two eps of TTG and it made me laugh (one of them was the leg day episode).

I'm not in the US, so the show isn't taking over the whole schedule of the channel.

This is the most reasonable post I've read about TTG. Not a fan of TT but I always thought TTG was just like the silly lego versions of shows/movies. I thought it's pretty clear that none of it is canon. I do understand the hate it gets for taking over CN's schedule, but I don;'t understand the hate it gets for its content.
