I've been thinking about myer-briggs types, mostly regarding Star and Marco, and it really highlights why their dynamic feels so engaging and unique despite being a seemingly standard take on the "manic pixie dream girl" trope.

Marco seems like an ISTJ. Prefers thinking logically based on concrete perception (yet is biased in his own way), loyal and honest to a fault, but has trouble considering other's feelings since he considers the "smart" (read: his) perspective to be the only one worth considering. This was addressed in both Blood Moon Ball and The Banagic Incident (Star getting upset at Marco overstepping his boundaries and thus belittling her judgement in the process). This is also lampooned slightly in Sleep Spells, with his application of "psychology" to Star being simply a battery or classical tests rather than simply pressing her for more details.

Star, on the other hand, is a classic ESFP. Social, thrill-seeking, easily bored, and irresponsible. Her first response to uncomfortable situations is to distance herself, either by literally avoiding it entirely or hiding how she feels. In The Banagic Incident she responds to Marco's insensitive comment by just slapping the pudding out his hands and walking away, and she was practically frigid to Tom throughout the entirety of Blood Moon Ball despite the fact that he clearly went through an extreme effort to accommodate her. To top it off, Star vs. Echo Creek was literally all about her trying to avoid taking responsibility for her mistake. Relationships are a two way street, and it makes me wonder whether the failure of her relationship with Tom was entirely his fault (his anger issues were obviously the main driver, but given what we've seen of how Star handles relationships she probably wasn't a terrifically supportive partner.)

What's interesting is that their types are different, but not entirely - they're both Sensing types, focused on concrete details and face-values rather than hunches or speculation

Janna is harder to peg because as a satellite character she hasn't really had her mettle tested on screen a lot. Most of personality typology is just how a person reacts to problems, and Janna hasn't really gotten involved in the plot stuff yet beyond just blithely reacting to what's going on.

That said, I don't think Janna really has a crush on Marco. She might've at one point, but Bon-Bon seems to imply that she's aware of the existing triangle and is more concerned about everyone making it out with feelings intact than her own personal stake in the Marcobowl. And Marco would be probably be less brusque about deflecting her if he thought her behaviour was bourne out of genuine romantic interest.

As far as the flirting, Marco is just really funny to tease. I know because I used to be like that too.

The foreshadowing and lore is pretty decent and there are a couple of really top notch episodes. Season 1 is mostly "wacky adventures" until the last few episodes of S1. Check out Mewberty, Blood Moon Ball and St Olga for good examples of the various subplots and lore. Season 2 turned the dial beyond 11 and the stakes are rising with each episode. It's a good blend of adventures and lore working together where every episode offers bits and pieces so you always feel satisfied with lore and character progression.

Compared to other fandoms, things are pretty civil and chill most of the time. Most if not all characters had to suffer while Star got a free pass. I hate that character trope, it's just annoying to have Mary Sue characters, and there is no better feeling than witnessing their downfall. What makes it more interesting is the fact that the only one Star can blame is herself.

Alright, I don't think Star is like actively malicious, or even a bad character or anything. It more that she hasn't gotten any real character developement compared to the other main-ish characters (Marco and Ludo), despite that being the reason she was sent to Earth in the first place.
Ludo goes from being an incompetent whiny bitch who yells vague orders from behind his men, can't fight and blames them when shit inevitably goes south, to a pretty badass motherfucker who is now tactically proficient and can actually hold his own against Star in direct combat for a period of time now.
Marco went from being "The Safe Kid" and dropping more spaghetti on the floor than a retarded pasta chef, to finally unlocking the harrowing secrets of talking to grills, and bagging his qt3.14 dream girl as a result. He also becomes a Red Belt, so he's out here getting these boosts too.
