IIRC, the "bullshit reasons" was the fight was specifically to be a boxing match and the hulk wanted to rip of the gloves and get into a no-rules brawl.

Aquaman is considered mid to low in the JLA and he routinely lifts more than 100tons, which is Marvel's max weight for their strong guys.

Flash would make short work of him. Anyone else would just turn the match into a Simpson's bully fight with any DC character making Champion punch himself.

I remember some issue where the Champion got his hands on some nega bands copy and he challenged the Silver Surfer, only for Surfer to beat him in one punch and melt his bands.
