ITT: Creators who can write and draw
>>89620754
I really like Skottie Young art when it's not about baby-versions of characters.
>Smith's art is good but doesn't get as much respect as it deserves because it pales in comparison to Moore
>>89621073
Moore's art hurts my eyes desu
Mignola
Also Lemire when he isn't writing team books
>>89621054
I really like his art too, but I'm not sure I'd say he can write. I've read some of that Fairytale book
>>89622332
Lemire cannot draw though.
Morrison.
Just kidding his art is shit and he knows it but it's cute that they let him draw a variant for the last issue of the Bat Epic.
>>89620754
>Uatu
>Skrulls
>Doom
>Namor
>Black Panther
>Galactus
>Silver Surfer
>Inhumans
Hard to believe that so many iconic Marvel characters exist because of the FF comics..
>>89622539
Don't forget that outside of Namor literally every one you listed was Kirby.
Adam Warren
>>89622499
>what is most of his Vertigo and indie output
>>89620754
That's not even Jack Kirby art, you stupid fuck
John Byrne.
Just kidding!
Real answer is Walt Simonson.
>>89622367
It is fucking gold.
>>89622598
What I'm saying is he can't draw for shit. It was acceptable when he was doing Essex County, but he hasn't progressed even slightly in all the years since. His drawing lacks even the most basic understanding of fundamentals, he never researches and draws too heavily on symbols, and he relies on the same tired set of tricks to tell his stories.
How many times has he drawn a cover of some skinny depressed looking cunt facing forward, standing at a slight angle?
You can call his stuff stylistic and quirky like everyone else does, but Lemire is a fucking terrible artist and should stick to writing.
>>89622637
He didn't say it was
>>89622539
>hard to believe
It's not your fault, I know
>>89622693
underrated post and taste
>>89622533
I've seen much worse.
>>89622768
what a pretentious cunt.
>>89622910
>pretentious
*tips fedora*
>>89622882
Yeah but it's a cover. There are 11 year olds that can draw a posey cape cover with professional inking and coloring that looks passable. It's Liefeld's whole career and the man has no fundamentals.
Bernie Krigstein
>>89622768
Lemire was fine for the one thing he did with the invisible man, i could never stomach another book drawn by him.
Mangaka thread?
>>89623478
lurk more
>>89622693
No matter how crazy or stupid Byrne gets, he wrote/drew Sensational She-Hulk so I can't hate him.

Dave Sim

>>89622566
Namor's pre-existing. Same guy who made Daredevil made him in 1939.
>>89620754
Yo where's Stahlin?
>>89622451
RIP Cooke - his work was a joy to read.
>>89624001
Heh, reads like a creepypasta.
Jean Claude Forest - creator of Barbarella and Hypocrite.
>>89622533
That's pretty ok tbqh. You really see that sketchy Adams influence in it.
Henk Kuijpers, writer and artist of "Franka".
Lewis Trondheim who's made so many comics I'd be hard pressed to mention them all, so I'll mention the most well known: "Les formidables aventures de Lapinot".
>>89620754
Where?!?
Jean "Moebius" Giraud.
Marten Toonder
>>89625057
+ Peter Pontiac
+ Wasco

Keith Giffen
Mike Grell
Wendy Pini
Jeff Smith.
>>89626639
Is elfquest any good? It looks unbearably cheesy.
>>89626639
She's not doing the writing alone though, as her husband Richard Pini is co-writer.
>>89626673
It's very cheesy, but entertaining - I read it when I was 14 - perfect age. Had I found it now, I'd have ignored it.
>>89622533
>>89624231
Kind of looks like fan artist doing a style that's a cross between John Byrne and Mike Grell, who both were inspired by Neal Adams, so yeah.
>>89622451
Why you make me want to cry?
>>89624001
Whoa.
>>89626673
It's incredible. And free to read online.

Dave Stevens
Alan Davis is a pretty decent writer when he wants to be.
>>89630180
his batman run is probably my favorite
>>89622768
Fucking this.
I like Lemire as a writer, but i'd be fine if he never drew his own stuff again.
>>89624042
That's StaRlin, Anon.
>>89626668
hell yeah niggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Keith Giffen
I would rather read an average comic by a writer-artist than a good comic by a seperate writer and artist team.
So like is Kirby just so obvious we aren't mentioning him?
>>89630208
It's nice.
>>89620754
I'm more interested in creators who can't write OR draw.
>>89633490
It both were of comparable quality then I would go with single creator over team, but you openly said one is actually good which means I'm not wasting my time with the other.
>>89622768
This might be true if he wasn't working on sequential art. He did some really good panel work in Trillium and at least tries to push the medium.
Hermann

really makes you think
>>89634645
Trillium was god awful and the comic that made me drop future purchases of stories drawn by him
>>89622566
muh niggia
