I decided to go with Garth Ennis' magnificent title, The Boys. Heading home now and should be back in 15.
And we're off to a great start.
>>89609121
bump it bump are you gona storytime the hole thing?
>>89609622
Damn straight I am.
Also excellent intro to Butcher.
Oh god no.
>>89609163
I love that image, By the way this was not going to have a series?
>>89609899
i hope not, seth rogen was suposed to be involved
>>89609960
love this cops
Fucking monsters.
How much are you gonna post?
>>89609121
I've read this through at least twice now on /co/. Here we go again! Reminds me of the good ol' edgy-ass high school days.
Butcher and Hughie's relationship alone makes the book worth reading. Heard a TV show is in the works and I'm fucking pumped. Hope it turns out better than POwers did (although I did enjoy both seasons).

Check it out
can't wait for super duper to show up
those guys are too lovable for the comic
>>89610193
If it's by the same fucks who did Preacher, I hope it never sees the light of day.
Steve "Frankface" Dillon didn't die for that.
>>89610337
lireraly to good for their world
>>89610124
All of it!
>>89610337
I'm so thankful Ennis didn't butcher the team. And I mean that literally.
>>89609121
Sad day. I really did not enjoy this series. Empowered takes a somewhat similar idea and does it much better.

>>89610487
to bad we didnt get to know the hole background of frenchie
Majestic
>>89609868
Oh Hughie, you poor innocent soul.
>>89610468
ooh, cool!
If you had to cast someone to play Butcher, who would your top contender be?
I made 3 trays of brownies for my statistics students today. Judging by how they acted, you'd think that I was feeding them anthrax.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>89611014
That's prime reaction image material right thar.
>>89610694
>CIA
And this is the day her soul died.
>>89609121
here we go again boys!
>>89611146
>Bill Clinton might argue the definition with you
lol
>>89611146
you know i never had a dream and i dont know what i woud do to make it true so is hard for me to jude annie
All these little shits look like they need an ass whuppin.
>>89609868
Hughie didn't deserve any of it ;_;
>>89609984
What a cunt
Hughie's face perfectly encapsulates this moment. It manages to convey all the necessary emotions and so much more.
>>89611486
thats a sad hooker
>>89609899
I hope not, most of Ennis' works are impossible to adapt unless you have a big budget and free reign. Just look at the abomination that is Seth Rogen's Preacher
>>89609826
>Jings, what if they get us into their ufo and fruit us up?
every time
Looks like not all is well within the ranks. There is a hierarchy clearly in place.
>>89611739
woud you a rayner?
And just like that it's done. You're a bonafide superhero, Hughie.
>>89611014
Oh boy is this going to be one of those books where everyone is a cunt for no reason?
>>89611972
i dont think cunts have a good reason to be cunts mate
>>89611972
It's was billed as trying to out-Preacher Preacher, so yes.
>>89611972
Not exactly.
Everyone's a cunt, but they all have good reasons.
>>89611972
anyone who's not a cunt gets fucked over in some way
Did OP died?
>>89610537
What do you mean? He's a simple Frenchman
>>89612225
I mean the whole thing with marie
>>89610835
Tom Hardy as Butcher, Simon Pegg as Hughie, andIce Cube as MM
>>89611633
christ
In one page Ennis establishes a pretty solid foundation for the lore behind powers in this universe. Short, sweet, and does what it needs to do. This is something that I'm still struggling with in my work.
>>89611830
I have a weakness for blonde bitches in power so thats a hard yes.
I can understand Hughie's perspective but I think he's being a little bitch.
>>89611146
>CAN STOP THE A-TRAIN
kek
>>89612461
beaing a little bitch is a huge characther trait for huggie
>>89612443
event if it is a simple origin the hole story of the v compund and vougth american is prety deep
>>89612522
two people finding each other
And we finally get a much needed glimmer of hope in this comic.
>>89611830
sure, she has nice tits
also the power thing is a plus
it'd be like banging scully
>>89611892
>turns your shit blue
I always wondered if it was true or just bullshit
>>89612545
Mallory's war stories were fucking brutal.
>>89612677
I'm willing to say yes.
I feel so so sorry for Teenage Kix. They have no idea what shit storm they're walking into.
>>89612914
>I'm a dog!
>I'm a dog! I'm a dog! I'm a dog!
Wow
God dammit Hughie
Alright, I take back what I said. Hughie, you done good.
>>89613062
and nobody on the team have the decency of telling huggie to mind his punches
>>89613080
>electric wankin hand
god I love ennis comics
I wish I could find that one tier-of-ennis comics list and it's all irish or whatever slang that I can't goddamn understand
Ahhh Vic The Veep. One of Ennis' more nuanced characters lol.
>All that, an' I always wanted a little brother.
I said it before and I'll say it again, Hughie and Butcher's relationship is gold.
>>89613303
That marketing team at vougth realy know what they are doin
>>89613284
c'est vrai
This arc is the stuff of legends.
>>89613062
HUGHIE OF MURDER
>>89610136
Is it ever explained why Butcher is such an asshole to the this dude?
>>89613238
goddamn
This guy was too good for Tek Knight.
>>89611014
Homelander really needs to shave his ass.
>>89613284Ah, fuck, I just remembered how this ends
This is hysterical.
Fucking glorious.
>>89613515
>>89613387
It's my favorite
>>89613659
The biggest crime in an Ennis book is to be perceived as non-genuine. To be a bootlicker, to be a fad Irish in St Patrick's, to be passive aggressive. Ennis will ruin a character's life if the happen to like the wrong film. These characters will usually suffer more than the baby-eating villains.
HUGHIE NO!!!!!!!!!
>>89614347
Classic Hughie
Jesus....
>>89610034
He's such a manipulative bastard
And this is why you don't engage in a Devil's threesome.
>>89610193
Of its done by AMC they'll probably give drag it out to two episodes per issues for "budgetary reasons" and fire the director after season1 and replace him with some other asshole for cash
>>89610455
I like it but Gareths edgyniss gets difficult to read
>>89614362
so good
>>89614843
On a second reading, this page, and panel 2 in particular, really makes Butcher come off as a fucking sociopath.
Tek Knight! The hero we deserve!
>>89614899
legendary
And the world loses a true hero.
Wow........
And thus concludes our first part of The Boys epic! See you guys tomorrow!
Here's teh posting order after The Boys:
1. Dan Slott's Spider-Man Epic
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Graphic Novels 1-8
3. Jeff Parker's Thunderbolts - Dark Avengers?
4. Thief of Thieves
I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

IT SHALL BE DONE!
Hopefully by the time I get through everything Slott will be done with The Clone Conspiracy
>>89616092
>IT SHALL BE DONE!
>Hopefully by the time I get through everything Slott will be done with The Clone Conspiracy
Fuck yeah Anti Venom.
>>89616092
I'm actually curious what it will be like watching Slott's work go from okayish to goodish to absolute shit in storytime format.
>>89614612
This is advice I wish someone had given me BEFORE I made my Big Mistake.
>>89614528
the look on both of their faces
>>89609781
Even Herogasm?
I've heard the legend of The Boys
many times here on /co/
and I can say thisthis is a really awesome book
>>89611295
Is Starlight supposed to be like Supergirl age? Because if so then FUCK this artist can't draw cute for shit.

"A hero. Not the hero we deserved, but the one we needed. A knight. Shining."
>>89613659
Probably because he's a bit of a prick and Butcher enjoys messing with him.
>>89610455
Ennis isn't for anyone, but I dig the characters a lot more in the Boys than Empowered. Butcher and Hughie are just fantastic.
>>89614899
>>89614986
So did he actually save that woman and child from that wheelbarrow, or did they die too because Ennis is a cunt sometimes?
>>89609960
I'm confused, where do supervillains come from if there's only one source of powers?
>>89625168
Probably left up to you. Either way he died well, trying to protect someone else innocent.
>>89625168
The wheelbarrow part was real, it just killed him.
>>89611511
Is hiring prostitutes really all that bad in the big picture?
>>89625615
Have you seen what they do to them?
>>89613269
This is where it kind of falls apart for me. If most superheroes are corporate stooges, why wouldn't the companies want to hire people with training and then give them superpowers? It doesn't really add up.
>>89625634
Yeah that part is bad, also the whole "stealing medicine from a children's hospital"
>>89613699
So wait, why is them being gay being listed as being on the same level as doing crime or immortal actions? Or are we not meant to agree with Butcher here?
>>89610074
Another Transmetropolitan reference: three-eyed smiley face on the lighter in the fourth panel.
>>89626252
Maybe. Maybe he just wants to show that they are not what they pretend to be.
>>89626252
>>89626370
Considering Butcher doesn't actually seem to have a problem with gay people, I guess that makes sense.
