Speaking of which, was it ever explained in the show or Journal #3 why he had to make a deal with someone before he could get into their head?

Every episode that /co/ loves about the show was rewritten by him tho, and the last episodes were the ones that didnt had much rewritte and were mostly scrapped ideas for older episodes - like Mabels bubble - that was suppused to happen on the introduction of Bill.

The jounral's full of last minute patch up
and damage control, most of which should have been addressed in the actual series
>>
>>89607508
>The jounral's full of last minute patch up
I wouldn't say last minute patch ups. It's clear a lot of work went into it. I wouldn't be surprised if the book was in production before the series finished, and Alex purposely half arsed the ending of the series so fans would buy the book in the hopes of possibly feeling more content with the ending after having read it. Plus that would be more money his pocket.

I don't know why, but apart from the "deal with the devil" meme bill isn't actually obligated to do anything on the slightest to fulfill the bargain. It's literally him lying and saying anything to get you to let him in
>>
>>89606524

I don't remember the scene exactly but probably Mable.
>>
>>89608740
yeah I thought that was pretty clear. he cultivates the idea of the deal because your head is the one place it matters (obviously you have to mentally allow someone into your head) but all the other shit he does, he can manipulate the 'terms' to the point of complete arbitrariness.

>>
>>89609272

>>
>>89608893

Jokes aside it was -

1. Because Bill had to act stupid so that they could beat him so he didn't kill any of the threats to his power like he should have, they made him too OP.

2. They wanted to do an episode where everyone went to save Mable because they had some unused leftover ideas Dreamscaperers they really wanted to use and Mabel is the most popular character for kids and normies so they wanted a Mabel centric episode.

There was really no actually good reason for him to put her in the bubble that holds water, they said it was to give her to Gideon, but Gideon did fuck all and Bill would be stupid to think a six year old would be an asset, fuck it wasn't even clear what Gideon was supposed to be doing aside from protecting the Mabel bubble which only existed to give to Gideon as a prize so he would protect the bubble and...

Basically there was no actual reason for it just fit the episode they wanted to do. I seriously doubt an offhand remark in a tie in book was even remembered or they'd have him spit off one line about why. It also doesn't explain why it was MABEL that Bill picked to kill later.

I mean I would have appreciated it if he'd said he was fond of her or something not for shipping bullshit but just to explain to holes since as it stands his actions don't make much sense.
>>
>>89607191
It bothered me that he didn't have to follow through on the deals he made.

Like he promised that he'd help Dipper get through the password on that computer and he just wrecked it. It'd be funnier if he actually did follow through on the deal and then wreck the computer afterwards.
>>
>>89612911
I guess he was planning to kill Mabel because of how it would affect the others.
>>
>>89613348
At least, that's all I can think of
>>
>>89612911
I can think of how Bill's deals with Dipper and Mabel could have worked out AND still had a similar or even better ending to the episode. For Dipper in the puppet episode, have him say the password in an alien or encrypted message and then bash up the laptop anyway and for Mabel, have her think her dream world is real. Have Dipper and Wendy and Soos force her to really confront what's going on and give her a lesson that life won't always be easy or nice, but there are still things that make it worth living. The fantasy world should be near real life, but with her getting everything she wants all the time (never having to grow up, all the boyfriends, Dipper being stuck with her for good, etc)

>Pinecest is pretty popular, but what about Stancest?

Not in these threads because they're mostly guys but among fujos yes very very popular.

Most popular pairings fujoshit pairings are probably Billdip, Stancest, and Billford in that order then there's a mixed grabbag of other crap like McGucket/Ford, Robbie/Dipper, Ford/Dipper, Dipper/Stan, one or both Grunkles with Rick from Rick and Morty, Stan/Bill, various threesomes and so on.
>>
>>89632793
I suppose there aren't really any significant adult female characters, so this is kind of a given.
>>
>>89632522
I doesn't help that by making so many blatant parallels between this scenario and the way Stan and Ford drifting apart to Dipper and Mabel's situation they are also telling the audience to draw the same conclusions between the two... which seems to be that Ford (and Dipper) was wrong from the beginning for wanting to get into a good school, rather than all the other stuff he did that was actually shitty like prioritizing being mad about his project over his own brother getting kicked out of the house, etc.

If they really wanted to do a proper parallel between Stan & Ford and Dipper & Mabel and show how the latter are avoiding their mistakes, they would've had Mabel come clean about the rift and explain herself to Dipper, and then have Dipper give his speech about how he'll always try to support her.

But that would mean admitting that Mabel and Stan did something wrong.
>>
>>89632821
>I suppose there aren't really any significant adult female characters, so this is kind of a given.

Hell there aren't any. There's some stuff with Darlene and Stan or Ford and that woman Carla something? And the mutiple eyed monster woman from Journal 3 with Ford. And they're all minor characters.

At least dick genies usually give you a deliberate misinterpretation of your wish they don't just tell you to screw off.

Hell if Gideon hadn't betrayed him Bill probably would have told him to screw off eventually too and kept Mabel for himself.
>>
>>89608740
>>89633165
>>89633280

That still raises the question as to why he even has to bother with the "deal" thing to begin with to get into people's heads. If he is lying and doesn't need to fulfill his end of the bargain, than why can't he just forgo the whole process and take over any body he needs?

And if it was a lie, why would he even bother fulfilling his end of the bargain for Gideon not once, but twice?

Both were reasonably written in their roles, but by the end of their respective shows, both characters had taken drastic turns in personalities that drew a lot of hate from fans.

The real answer is shitty writing.

One time Alex said that Bill "owed Dipper a favor" still because of the deal and I thought it would come up as a trick in the finale to beat Bill, nope never comes up.

Giffanyfags made aprox. 1 thread per day complaining that their waifu was dead so Alex caved and rezzed her.

5 bucks says that's the reason for the "Bill's not really dead either guys" backwards messages too.

If people bitched about the mayor enough he would be magically resurrected too.

I know she didn't have any role in the actual town, but I wish they had brought her back for Weirdmageddon.

At the very least, a final peek-in on her after the climax would have been a nice reminder that weird stuff isn't limited to only Gravity Falls.

What I don't get is if the apprenticeship was supposed to be a bad thing, why did they put it in such a good light?

>"This is what I was talking about. How many other twelve year olds are capable of doing what you've just done?"

Maybe I'm seeing more importance in that moment than it was meant to have. After Dipper's past admission that it hurts when Mabel and Stan make fun of him, it was endearing to see Ford do the opposite and build up his confidence.
>>

?
>>
>>89634435
Robbie's CD and song for Wendy, and the mystery of whether or not it actually had hypnotic properties.
>>
>>89634188
I think some of that stems from how little on-screen development was given to Ford and that they maybe over simplified the issue.

Between the journal, the few bits we see of them in the show, and things Alex has said about him, it seems like the idea was that Ford's philosophy was that in order to be "great" you have to basically cut all ties with your loved ones because they'll inevitably hold you back, but the way they presented this was conflating physical distances as being the same as emotional distance and never followed through except for a single comment Dipper makes about how being Ford's apprentice would mean being stuck in a basement for the rest of his life (which doesn't make a whole lot of sense since everything we were shown indicates the majority of Ford's studies is outdoors)

tl;dr It was supposed to be a "Thing looks like a great idea on the surface but has unseen cons" sort of deal, but with how rushed the finale was they didn't bother with the second half.
>>
>>89634469
OK
>>
>>89634435
I also didn't understand why they never had Mabel hypnotizing Dipper to think and act like her.
>>
>>89634482
I didn't get that basement comment either.

Everything from Ford's flashback from A Tale of Two Stans to the "where are they now" reel during the finale shows that Ford's spends little time in a laboratory and more time out adventuring.

I guess they just really wanted to get the show over with.

I get some stuff needed to be answered, but Robbie's cd? Come on guys. I just realized, since she never learned her lesson or apologized or felt guilty for causing the apocalypse, she might very well end up causing another one.
>>
>>89656763
That wasn't naive at all. Imagine if Mr. and Mrs. Pines received a letter from some prestigious academy in the UK offering Dipper an education abroad with a full scholarship. Same situation.

I doubt Ford would have outright told Dipper's parents that he was a paranormalist. He would have fallen back on his other five PhDs and made up a cover story.

And it's not like Dipper would disappear off the face of the Earth for them. He'd be living with his true Grunkle Stanford (as far as his parents know) and only a phone call/webcam call/visit away.
>>
>>89657266
Also, given that they're parents sent the twins to live with a relative they barely know for three months and never once called, wrote, or visited that time, and that they're only mentioned offhandedly once or twice by Dipper and Mabel, they don't exactly seem overprotective.

Naivete isn't inherently destructive, and it's that same naivete that fueled his search for the supernatural. So he didn't factor his parents' permission into his idea. It was still mostly just an idea that he was behind.

Mabel's the one whose selfishness caused the apocalypse. Even the show admits that Dipper sacrifices every time for Mabel and she never does the same, and the ending treats that as though it's the natural order. Fuck what Dipper might want to do, Mabel's sad because of it.
