I recently discovered this cartoon myself. Made the thread on /co/ a month or so ago which seemd to re-spark interest in it. The show actually premiered back in 2013, but the English dub is currently lost to us. As I've said, the only place the episodes exist are on voot, which is a Verizon website in India. It's apparently possible to download things from voot, but it requires one of those weird programs where you practically have to type in code to get them to download off of the servers. Things like RTMP Dump have always been too confusing for me to figure out.

I will add that I know the show doesn't look that good. Its visual style isn't going to win any awards. But I like to watch foreign cartoons with the understanding that these countries are often years behind in the technology race, and their budgets will never be able to compete.

Everything that I've seen of Rimba Racer seems neat. I like how genuine their enthusiasm is for their show, and despite the years between seasons, they never gave up and actively post new stuff on their facebook and twitter even though hardly any fans actually follow or like them.

The show goes out of its way to make you think Tamira is a triple agent who is working for the ultimate big bads. But it turns out that Meika was the one working for them. She was spying on King all along, and when Tag and his friends got the contents of her computer, she wiped any evidence that would have revealed the people she worked for.

They tell King that he can stay on as the public face of the organization, but from now on, Meika is actually going to be in charge of the Grand Prix.

I'm not sure if there was anything in the episodes I skipped that foreshadowed this, but there wasn't anything in the episodes that I did watch. It's something else. Some could argue that it's an ass-pull, but I think it worked very well.

It's a much better show than I anticipated. At least the second half of the season. I haven't watched the first half but I'm damn well going to.

Half of the episode usually takes place off of the track and deals with the main thrust of the story. Corruption in the organization and what-have-you. The second half of the episode has a race in it. That seems to be the format for most of the episodes I watched.

Story is good. I quite liked it.

I'm going to get some sleep. I have no idea when season two will premiere, but I really want to see what they do next. I can't help but feel bad for the people who watched the show when it premiered several years ago. The huge gap between seasons must have been brutal for anybody who wanted to see where that plot twist leads.

With anthropomorphism, there doesn't need to be a reason. You could find an infinite number of cartoons featuring animal characters that would work exactly the same if they were humans. Hell, Rimba Racer is one of them. None of the characters do anything exclusive to the animals that they're based on. They could all be humans and both the story and the races would play out exactly the same.

Not having a reason doesn't mean it can't be done. It's simply an aesthetic choice.

In regards to the final episode...

If Meika was working for the big bads all along, how much of her personality was real? Does she really care about Sonny? Is she really friends with Tag and all of the rest? Or was it just an act? If I had to make a prediction, I would be inclined to believe that she'll try to stay loyal to her bosses before ultimately turning against them and siding with her friends. But it would be kind of interesting if she genuinely was a villain and stayed a villain. Perhaps King could be the one to be redeemed.

Copy the file url from this thread

Open vlc

Click the "Media" tab

Select "Open Network Stream"

Paste url, then at bottom action menu, choose "Stream"

Source window will open. Click "Next"

Destination Setup window will open. Click "add"

On next window, click "browse" to choose output folder

After navigating to desired location, name file and click save. (Do not add a file extension to the filename, vlc will handle that on it's own. Just give the file a name.)

That window will disappear. Now next to "filename", you will see the destination drive, destination folder name, followed by your name for the episode with the extension ".ps". This is normal. Now click "next"

Transcoding options window will appear. Click the green check mark to disable "Activate Transcoding.".

You can choose your mp4 encoding profile, if you like, in the drop-down tab to the right. I prefer to leave that alone.

Click "next" once done.

You're done, click "stream" on the next window, and do NOTHING. Just wait for the blue progress bar under the video window to scroll all the way to the right, then disappear. Your video is now downloaded and encoded. Takes less than 2 minutes on average per episode download.

Repeat for every episode.

Axle's trivia. Nothing good here. I never really liked him much. I know he's the rival and that he's supposed to be the opposite of Tag, but if the guy loves racing so much and believes he is the best, it makes little sense that he accepted King's offer and is given wins without earning them. There's some dialogue in the show that implies Axle originally turned down King's offer, but he ultimately relented and joined in on the race fixing.
