I've said it before and I'll say it again: Bluth made an excellent movie but a terrible adaptation. There's plenty of room to make another NIMH movie if you actually follow the book.

It being animation/live-action doesn't necessarily bother me as long as the humans aren't the focal point. The scientists running the experiments, or the farmer's family. I don't anticipate them striking up conversations with the mice, but if they do, then you can just shit all over the movie.

I wonder if I will even watch it. I don't mind adaptations being different, but on the other hand to me the 1982 version is perfect.

Which is probably not what this movie is going to do, because it's the animated version that's more popular. Like how everybody that makes a Wizard of Oz movie says they're adapting the book, but then use as much stuff as possible from the MGM movie that doesn't match the book.

If my memory serves me correctly, it deals in much greater detail Mrs. Frisby's husband. There are passages that describe their escape in great detail and make it abundantly clear just how much the rats owed Jonathan for their rescue. He was a great character in the book but he was barely mentioned in the movie.
