Well, if i can, i'll repost what i posted on previous thread

"I just stopped a hiatus on mine: month and half without updates.

At least i came back with two pages and with the determination and practice to start doing this weekly.

http://quinmael.tumblr.com/post/156678830344/come-here-to-read-the-new-pages-come-here-to

That link leads you to a post that give you the first page or the last update.

I hope one day it gets enough attention to earn at least enough to pay my colorist.

Also, if you could, give me some critic and vote on what will happen on the next pages, please."

i just told you how to spell epilogue last thread. you spelled embarrassing properly, though. that's a lot harder.
those are some kooky cameos, but who's the bigheaded guy in the wheelchair?
I'm still happy you got a readable font, but what are you using now to make the word balloons? it has weird ragged edges
>>
>>89586848
You really aren't in the place to be calling those other artists shit eaters considering your own artistic track record, y'know.

2/2

this could of been a great animated cartoon or webcomic but i have to many other projects to work on to give this project any attention right now, what can you do?
>>
>>89586967
I'm just using the same tool I use for my lines to make the word balloons
Also yeah, I'll remember spelling epilogue right, I'm pretty bad with that.

Ohh I didn't notice your other lines have a ragged edge too. I guess it's supposed to look like crayon or some kind of airbrush. It works for the lines I guess, but it really doesn't for the word balloons. Maybe if you gave them outlines (Even light gray outlines would help) or if you can switch brushes on the fly
>>
>>89587172
I'm always so happy when a comic that went on hiatus comes back
and like I said on your site, it looks like your art improved a tad too. Something about the anatomy seems nicer.

Eh, I tried once before with black lines but it was even messier and the little bit of scratchiness to the word bubbles is so minor that I don't see it as a real problem.

I hope I don't come across for posting this twice, but how are these colors? I can tell theres something wrong but I can't put my finger on it
>>
>>89587422
Unfortunately the pixels are not mine. This is a rough sketch i drew in like 10 minutes with a mouse on paint. so the art will get better if i decide to make this a thing
>>
>>89587595
I think the odd thing about your colors is how some panels are very saturated while others are very dull and washed out. Individually all of these panels are pretty solid, but the stark color differences between them makes them look strange when right next to each other.
>>
>>89587595
You didn't ask, last time, you just said you were trying to get 'em right.
I think there are some subtly 'off' choices here. Bowie's pink skin, brown girl's skin saturation, whoever decided it was a good idea to splatter that poor toad in tomato juice....

Maybe some day.

At least you get to see the bottom half.
>>
>>89587263
yeah I've been practicing anatomy while I've been gone, still got a long way but its nice to hear its getting somewhere

>>89587407
Oh its just I really like the aliased line appearance I'm fond of pixel art and all that jazz so it reminds me of that, just mainly a personal preference .

>>89587503
thanks! I'm wanting to integrate some animation into the actual story at some point possibly for a certain training montage scene I had in mind, but I don't know if animated scenes ever go over well in webcomics.

>>
>>89588464
i like aliased art too. Though it doesn't come off much like pixel-art (not at this size), more like prequel, homestuck, etc. there's a simple elegance to that look.
Speaking of those,
>I don't know if animated scenes ever go over well in webcomics.
They do! You just want to make sure they actually add something that adding another panel or two wouldn't (for example, it's annoying sitting and waiting for animation to finish up while you read multiple text balloons)
>>
>>89588751
>having your spelling burned by dewd
shit that's a punch in the balls.
>>
>>89589104
yeah i mean i can't personally draw pixel art well but yeah prequels kind of art style is more similar to what I try and do.

Oh I meant more like a short animation rather than a page for one update or something like that, just depends on whether I can physically do it. But animated panels could be good to use some point too.
>>
>>89589516
animations-instead-of-pages run a risk of not going over well, yeah. I think your trepidations are valid there. But give it a shot anyway. I can tell you right now if I felt any confidence about making them, I would have made a dozen animations just for fun and shitgiggles.

So there was a little discussion last thread, I just wanted to ask, those of you who have actually kept up on Kiwi Day N, is the current 'let's split up, gang' thing really hurting pacing badly and/or making it hard to follow the three storylines?
I know it definitely would for anyone trying to jump on at this point (not a good idea in general), but I wanted to know how more longterm readers are handling it.
in b4 aren't any hahaha i know
and if it is a problem, is it more the juggling or is it the stupidly long time in between updates lately?
There's nowt I can do about it at this point and it's almost over, but this would be the time to get feedback on the experiment. I've never had them split up quite this long before, not since they went inside that book.

I posted the test cover page a week or two ago for my comic's first actual chapter, and you guys mentioned that it was just a bunch of people standing around doing nothing

Now that I'm ready to upload the first update, I wanted to finally finalize this cover page. Are there any other noticeable problems with this cover?
>>
>>89592129
I don't really follow your comic, not really interested in reading the 900+ pages, but I have to ask, does it have a plot? Is it going anywhere?

If you have a story in mind you want to tell, then you know what characters to follow and what characters to forget. If you are just making this shit for fun, just playing with different characters in different scenarios for your pleasure, just keep doing what you want to do.
>>
>>89592129
Your comic is hard to get into, I actually tried once. From what I can tell from that experience and the pages you post here, there's no real plot, just random stuff happening randomly - whatever you feel like drawing at the time.

How about starting something new, this time with a clear plan for the beginning and the end of the story at the very least? I honestly don't think Kiwi Day N is salvageable at this point if you care about having any readers.
>>
>>89587688
Yes, that makes sense, these are panels that have nothing to do with each other and exist just so I can try out different things

>>89587802

>>
>>89592129
I don't read your comic but I have respect for you for trying hard. You keep going despite everyone shitting on your face. You allow yourself to make mistakes, unlike most people.

I'll be honest: I have zero interest in reading your comic, but I like to see your posts. I even check some pages when you post them, even though the genre isn't my thing and the writing is all over the place. Sorry. That's how I see it. I don't see a central plot or hook that I should care about.

A lot of people have told you to work on your art. I agree, but on the other hand I feel like you could be an ok webcomic artist even with your current level of illustration skills.
You should study storytelling a little more, polish the basics, and most of all: focus. Simplistic art can work too if you don't try too hard.
I think you could benefit from studying Pendelton Ward's way of combining his artstyle with his unique writing voice. They are both simple yet effective. And no, I don't mean imitating him, just used him as an example of focusing the tone, technique and the thematic goals of the story into one cohesive package.
If you want to make a fun, silly story for an example, make your artstyle fun and silly as well. I mean something along those lines, if you get my point. You already have some grasp of that but right now I can't tell what kind of story I'm looking at. Is it supposed to be funny, silly, chidlike, serious, sexy, escapist fantasy, sad, dramatic, happy -- what? It doesn't help that many of the character designs remind me of known characters from other comics, such as dragon ball and adventure time. It is a turnoff to see stealing made obvious, always. Hide your influences, but by all means have them.

Sorry for shitting on your face as well.
I'm glad you just keep going.

I believe you can improve, because you work hard, and that's what matters.

Personal opinion, but a closed-mouth grimace conveys the emotion you're going for better than a neutral open-mouth in the last panel.

When you're going for visual comedy (which is part of pretty much any joke in comics, even if it's conveyed through dialogue), the key elements to focus on are tone, [inter]action, contrast and preciseness of detail. They don't all have to be used at once, but they're all great fundamentals to keep in mind.

I'd focus on Precision and Contrast in your case, since you're only working with two panels. Think harder about what you're trying to accomplish in each panel and how to enhance the absurdity in a natural way. Consider your composition and level of focus and how that affects what you draw and why. Should a group shot introducing characters be just as zoomed up as a shot of a character thinking about something by themselves? Should both panels be viewed from the same angle? What helps sell your idea, instead of just reaching adequacy?
>>
>>89597804
I understand that he hasn't improved enough in ovet 10 years. But you don't. It's you who is stopping him from improving. What he needs is support and advice just like the rest of us. Learn to give constructive criticism instead of bullying people into giving up if they fail to impress you with their free comic.
>>
>>89599060
Not that anon, but he's demonstrated before that he's perfectly capable of drawing better than he does for his comic but chooses to not do so because A) it would involve effort and B) it would be an acknowledgement that his former work was garbage.

He can draw fully realized, non-chibi figures. He can totally fucking do it. And when given positive reinforcement by several posters and urged to either adopt that style or at least apply SOME of the benefits of what he clearly knows how to do to his existing art, he just rambled about how he wants to look like a sprite comic and refused to actually apply himself.

Constructive Criticism does NOTHING for him because he refuses to actually acknowledge it. He was given constructive coloring advice just last thread and twisted it to mean something completely different and then told the anon that he "already knew" those things they didn't even advise him on. There is no right way to help this guy, because he doesn't actually desire improvement.
>>

Facing a bit of a dilemma.

I have all these ideas for stories, but almost none of them are exclusive to each other in terms of genre. So I keep flip-flopping on whether all these stories should take place on one single world, or if I should make up multiple settings.

If you'll indulge a bit of background, I have always despised the idea of the "planet of hats", as it's pretty fucking lazy to act as if planets were just towns for the protagonists to visit. Planets are big and have a lot of shit on them(just look at our own in real life for proof). So I keep thinking, why not have all my stories take place on the same planet? But then I think some of it might seem out of place with other things. Again, the issue is more aesthetic than genre, and I just can't make up my damn mind here.

Anyone else have this kind of problem?
>>
>>89600280
How far apart Genre wise are the stories?
Same goes for tech levels.

Things don't have to go planet hopping unless you want them to.

Pretty much every setting in fiction is based on Earth, and anything too far out can be explained via magic/science/conspiracy.

It's all on the lower end of sci-fi. Like Stargate tech levels, mode or less, with most of the common devices being gritty and functional, with the crazy shit limited to ancient mysterious artifacts and such.

>>89600352
Well, I did want to try multiple species, but I guess they could just be on the same planet together. Makes the mechs a bit difficult since they have to be able to accompany different creatures, but I could probably figure something out.
>>
>>89593753
>>89593884
Hmm, this is some good insight. I didn't realize people really cared about overarching stories rather than just a series of arcs (just to clarify, this post was asking about the latest arc, coming after the Hell arc), but I have noticed people lately making a lot of threads like "what is the beginning-to-end plot of Adventure Time?" so that is an expectation even in random goofy fantasy, I guess. when AT came out, my immediate thought was that this was a lot like my shit, just hanging around, doing whatever, waiting for important stories to happen or old characters to reappear, with no plan.
>>89597307
So.. interesting that you bring AT up specifically, maybe I SHOULD study what Pen's doing right that I haven't figured out yet.
>I can't tell what kind of story I'm looking at
Pretty much everything you said except serious, sad, and dramatic.
The idea IS for it to remind you of dragon ball, earthbound, etc, so you get the feel of a long, drawn-out adventure with lots of humor but also sexy times (like Toriyama or shit like Doraemon used to do before being neutered) and occasional mindfucks (but not nearly as deep as Itoi, I can't pull that off yet). The characters started out as really obvious and acknowledged ripoffs back in '02, with shit like Fighter/DBZ guy, Ness guy, Link guy, etc, but at this point they shouldn't give you that impression much anymore. Can I ask which current ones are doing that? Vague descriptions are fine.
also you're not shitting on me at all, this is really useful feedback. I'm often embarrassed to call direct attention to myself, but this time it really worked out. Thanks!
>>
>>89599146
Oh sorry if you misunderstood, what I meant was that SINCE I made that comic, I learned some useful things in these threads about that, and was already trying to utilize that in pages I've made since. Not that I already knew it when I made that one, obviously.
Like it was a page from 3 months ago, and I'd gotten that tip already a few weeks ago.
>>
>>89600280
I can tell you what has worked well in the past: a series of stories that it turns out take place in the same setting
What doesn't work as well is one comic that skips around to a bunch of unrelated stories that just happen to share a setting. Y'dig? It's easier for people to digest a story from beginning to end, then read the next one and go "oh another in this same setting, cool." Asimov did stuff like that.
>>
>>89599146
also I am very slowly, gradually de-chibifying I'm noticing. Early on I just said 'fuckit, proportions don't have to be consistent as long as they're consistent within a panel, they can just change to whatever looks good and funny at a time', but it's way more locked-down now, more consistent, and over time yeah they're becoming more heads-tall, with more detail and less simplification. but I value consistency in a long-term project like this, so I would never just up and change it and suddenly look like every other poorly-drawn weeb comic. the simplified designs make it faster and let me practice a lot more new poses without becoming overwhelmed. I'm really enjoying the construction process lately, for the first time in my life it's not an annoyance but actually fun for constructing new poses out of spheres and tubes.
>>
>>89601440
I must admit that thought did cross my mind at times. Some of the big names have been highly successful by just sticking to a single setting for most if not all their careers. Asimov, Tolkein, Rowling, Pratchett... But then I immediately feel guilty for such an arrogant thought, like I'm anywhere near the same league.

Wouldn't it be even more arrogant to say "I'm going to succeed doing something DIFFERENT from what all those successful guys did"? Only we call that kind of arrogance 'ambition'
>>
>>89601667
Point taken. But then again, I keep having trouble trying to come up with other settings anyway. They always end up being kinda gimmicky and boring, when they'd work a lot better as a country to give the world I have more variety.

So maybe it's more like some people only have one good setting in them to begin with.
>>
>>89601814
And of course nothing is stopping you from doing a "Sandland" later if you're sick of your "place dragon ball and dr. slump take place in"
>>
>>89601828
True, plus my fake planet is fairly broad, and I have no plans to do any straight fantasy stories, so again, genre isn't an issue.

Sorry if this question seems dumb as fuck, but when people say you just need to pick up the pencil and start, what do they mean start on? I get a blank page and I'm just lost on where to begin again. >>89602502
I don't think that advice is meant to be taken 100% literally. You know what I did? I sat and brainstormed some fun characters. Then from there I imagined what kind of things they would get up to, how it would go, how they would interact, and it all blossomed from there.
what's your comic gonna be about? How much do you have so far?
>>
You're all never gonna make it. Just give up now.
>>
>>89602583
I've got a bunch of different ones, from different periods in my life. I usually stop at settings, rules, and character ideas but can't think of much in the ways of plots. I'd be a shitty writer since I'm pretty sure I'd just infodump and place "lore" everywhere instead of making something happen at that moment.

It's all still in my head and I still tweak them around, but it seems like some time right after high school, I just stopped drawing and I'm not exactly sure why. It's been about 3 years since I've drawn consistently. I just do it from time to time while trying to apply what I'm studying, but give up in frustration.

this will be interesting, it seems like valentine's day traditions vary a lot by era and location. In my day it was extremely egalitarian, everyone got a card from everyone else, exactly the right number (maybe one-fifth) of the class included candy, and cards were storebought, the idea being that they expressed your taste in cartoons or whatnot.
if a girl had a crush on you, she didn't wait for valentine's day

Do you consider it a major issue if a comic is moving too fast? I know some webcomics meander like motherfuckers, with several entire pages with nothing happening (like say, the Bomango reboot), which drives me insane, so I've been making it my goal to have each page (e.g. each update) have something worth reading - something that exposits on the setting, characterizes a character, or drives the plot. But how much is too much?
>>
What's the difference between an issue and a volume?

usually an issue is like a 22-ish page comic, while a volume is like a whole chapter, like 6-12 of those.

The catch is, I want to be able to display my pages side by side in a two page format. Kind of like a flipbook app or a page viewer. Is this possible with either plug in?

For example, check out Carciphona and how she has he pages displayed side by side

Yeah the webcomic I'm drawing now- the format I'm developing it under is that it read like a book, so every two pages are specifically paired and suspense reveals are on page turns.

The way you've painted this, the shadows of your figures are picking up the skylight, which is not entirely incorrect, but you've painted them to such a degree that they appear as rimlighting. Basically, it's making them look like they're running over a pool or something.

My suggestion would be to take that blue you've painted, remove it from the shadow side, put it on the light side as rim light. paint their shadows with blue, but make it subtle, barely noticeable really.

For what it's worth, I'm digging this cover, it could use more clouds that are much more dense to make it more interesting

I can't comment on Comic Easel, as I've never used it, but the main reason I use Webcomic is that it makes it easy to run several different strips or sub-sections under one site.

If you have only one story, like most webcomics, then Easel would probably be fine, but if you plan to have something like, for example, Dumm Comics, then Webcomic might be better.

(You could probably do it under Easel, too, but I don't know how or what the management would be like.)

(Also, I can't advise on the side-by-side layout thing.)

Oh man...

I've been planning mine for years now...

Though, I think I understand why. I usually plan my comic in periodical bursts, between those times I just let the ideas simmer while I do other things, like research and just normal life. Probably because I was unsatisfied with the concepts I had and my lack of experience. Once I get back to actively planning, I try to improve upon it by applying any knowledge or experience I gained by then.

I think I'm at to that point were I have a concept I am happy with and I feel confident in my knowledge to tackle the subject I want to work with. So hopefully now I can continuously work to put together some documents of my comic.

I used to just make it up on the fly, then it would just be me writing a whole chapter ahead, but now I'm outlining the whole next part of West Tree. Well, the outline at least.
>>
>>89624336
i planned out the whole plot months before I started but I update and change it when i take days off to think about it and sketch out future scenes
>>
>>89624336
I have some notepad stuff with several story categories, including
>a plot twist i'd like to have
>a reaction to an event that would be funny
>a character development as a result of an action
as well as some general descriptions of how a plot would go ("they come across a (thing), struggle with (aspect of it that relates to how they would normally do things), eventually such and such happens") that can be just a few sentences, or it can get pretty lengthy sometimes. Then I go through my files for little ideas and funny dialogues and think of ways those could fit in ("oh that's perfect for a (thing), because it would ask them (question that results in witty comeback)") and that fleshes it out. Also stuff like if I've always wanted to draw a particular weird landscape, I'll ask if that would be a good setting.. and see if I can work it into the plot (one's coming up, I'm fascinated by cenotes. you'll see how it works in)
The current plotline, I wanted to get as much in as possible before I wrap up the series, and for once, get the pacing somewhat right, so I even made a separate flowchart bulletpoint document to try to itemize all the events
But for the most part, and in the old days this is almost all I did, I just run through the event in my head and think of what they'd do and say, and they just do it.
>>
>>89626108
>I even made a separate flowchart bulletpoint document to try to itemize all the events
That seems a bit extreme.
>>
>>89626353
Normally would be, this is the first time I've needed to. I grappled really hard with the whole thing with Gyomudo, what his backstory was involving the catgirl and the Queen, how his curse was keeping him in Hell, what it had to do with the Queen's imprisonment, why he was making a sacrifice, how they would convince him it wasn't worth it, what his logic would be in resisting but then giving in, how the prison worked.. and before that, what his reputation was, what damage he was doing to the place, what Ryou has to do with it.. it all made sense the first time I thought of it (while asleep) but when I finally got to the plot it was a big giant mess and I had to untangle it like christmas lights.

>>
>>89624336
I'm never not planning a comic or three. So... "forever."

A lot of ideas are subject to change on the fly as I'm drawing them. Like if I realize something doesn't quite work or is beyond my skill level then I may have to rethink the whole thing.

Part of my problem is I get stuck in a permanent development cycle and never actually get to the art part.

>>89627555
Nice art, I want to take a moment to commend some of the better artists here.

You show great paneling and consistent construction. Proportions and perspective are excellent. The beetlejuice comic was well done, last panel had great composition.

Pipsqk is another one of the better artists here. Very diligent and eager to learn, his construction, composition, and perspective are also great. It'll be interesting to see how far he goes, he's clearly quite young still.

There's this one person who's drawing this little masked dude going through a forest, great perspective and clean style.

Carrion girls creator has an amazing painterly style that I'm afraid is pretty underrated because its not a style familiar to comic readers. The environment and details are gorgeous though.

The something reality comic, with the glasses girl with the big nose and the husky guy and their creation. Fun style that compliments the writing and really brings the characters to life, consistent art, whole thing is very clean and easy to read.

There may be one or two that I'm forgetting, I apologize this is off the top of my head. Keep it up guys, you guys make these threads actually worthwhile and not a cesspool of retard scribbles.

Yeah, unfortunately since this still is a review series and I want to update it regularly I can't really afford to spend several months on each episode doing loads of frame by frames. I feel like this route still looks good visually since I spent so much time on the resources but is far more efficient for what I'm doing. The technique was inspired by "ZTV News" which has a pretty similar technical approach and i feel like looks pretty good.

>>89630552

>tfw your mom asks you how your comic is doing and you reply with "it's getting better" when in reality your average views are declining with each update but the fact that your mother cares inspires a surge of motivation to turn things around so you ask her how she likes it so far and she tells you that she hasn't been keeping up then changes the topic right away, completely dashing the previous motivation since you realize her interest was for politeness's sake and the loneliness of being the only person who believes in your work instills a nihilism in you that dulls your enjoyment of making comics and leaves you constantly procrastinating and making excuses

i like it. I feel like the original sketch felt a bit more loose and playful, which kind of suited the IG style and played nicely off of the subversive ending. for example, while you got the nose and moustache perfect, it's hard to think of quimby as quimby without his close-set eyes and protruding forehead (indicating receding hairline). at least to me. it's what made him so distinct.

Well. All sketches lose something when you go to ink. If there's a way to avoid it I've yet to discover it.

I know what you mean about the hairline. That was more of a design oversight. Though if you look up pictures depending on the angle you can't tell.
>>
>>89642754
>All sketches lose something when you go to ink
true that. I'm convinced most of it's in our heads, and we just THINK sketches are livelier, even if sometimes it really is the case.
the important thing here is the gag is fantastic.
>>
>>89642876
It has something to do with the expressiveness of the lines. Even if you 100% copy every line (which you can't) you still lose out on things like the original texture and weight. It's slight but it's there. The best you can do is have a very expressive ink style that matches with your sketching so even if things are lost, some things are gained.

here's an updated working page. The comic is www.napapiiricomic.com ; If you've seen it before, its formatted into long tapestry-ish images that you scroll down, it was for a school project about optimizing for mobile, so you could load the page/images and not have to click next over and over again.

I like how I shade my stuff, but I do see what you are saying. I need to possibly find a nice even ground between the two, because that's what I want the style to look like.

>>89651073
I am going for a flat paper style, with Paper Mario's aesthetic being a big inspiration.
One of the problems though is that you can tell that they aren't flat from how I shaded them, so it makes it an unbalanced mix between the two shading styles.
Shading is still one of the things I need to work on, and I am slowly learning how to do it better.

If you were to shift a bird to standing upright you really wouldn't see much of those thighs at all because they'd be lost in a mess of feathers with the rump. The first leg iteration was a fine stylization.

I'll just redraw her with more human like legs. If only to simplify things, I don't really want to zootopia it and draw a world that has to accommodate every creature I decide to throw into it. And that's not including how they would have to interact with one another. She can still have trouble dancing, as that's a problem that people can face.
>>
>>89665624
fuck human legs. the cute stylized birbness is what made her cute in the first place. i hate it when cartoon birds just have human legs with bird toes jutting right out of the ankle with no foot at all.
I think you had it perfect >>89664057 here, particularly the 2nd and 3rd of the ones at the top, and the side view is perfect as long as you draw em longer (because longlegginess is what made this birb so dance-tastic)

I been wanting to show off everything that I been building up for the past 16 years. But I am too lazy to make it happen.
>>
>>89667520
Dude, you're one of the most welcome people on this thread, don't sell yourself short.

I don't see a drop in art quality, other than that short arm, but I'm not really feeling this design. The theme of the elf woman's appearance feels all over the place. She has a very clean dignified looking face and hair. I'm not sure what the jacket is supposed to resemble, it reminds me a little of Satsuki's outfit in Kill la Kill but that's probably coincidental. The shorts/belts and claw glove look very rugged, and don't mesh with the rest of the look well.

What kind of character are you trying to convey here? She's sexy and threatening, but how so? I'm just getting a ton of mixed signals, I'd like to know what your intent for the character's personality is.
>>
>>89667520
she's definitely beautiful but I think the pulled back hair goes beyond stern right into unsexy, to me. If she had something like a battle headband or rank-related diadem or something, maybe. Otherwise you might wanna give her some bangs. they can be STRONG bangs, but gotta have something
also, is she just walking around in socks? Don't get me wrong, a lot of people are going to give you shit for the cutoffs mixed with the jacket, or the multibelts, but those are great.. fuck those people. however, the socks..
I think you're just less used to more realistic style people, that's all.
>>
>>89667880
well the laziness shows through, but I'm sure you're aware of your art's shortcomings so no need to harp on it.
other than that, I like her design. That's a cool helmet and armor. What's the comic about?
>>
>>89668111
Well I'm not making a comic. But it's mostly about the Sliver Knights currently at war with the Black Knights, (people who originally killed 2 billion people to attempt to save the world from overpopulation. But in doing so, killed off earth and turn it to a radiated deadly wasteland full of mutants). The S.K use the ancient relic named the Element Stones as their source of power. But the B.K went to their planet and release a powerful dark entity set to ruling the universe. So the S.K have to deal with that first.

And I would go on to tell the whole thing. But like I said, I built this whole story for 16 years. And I viewed it in my head like it was a real animated series. So it would take a long time just to explain the whole thing from start to finish.
>>
>>89668924
>Well I'm not making a comic
Then you're in the wrong thread, m8. Sounds good though. I used to hold stories like that in my head for years, but 16 is longer than I've ever actively juggled one
>>
>>89667953
Damn the arm was short... I didnt even see it. I'm still off on anatomy!

Anyway... um she's basic the elf here is a cocky and passively aggressive woman. She's done enough heinous acts that's she globally known as a threat to all life. The clothes constantly will be changing because I plan on her not appearing every issue. But this was her initial design.

I didn't want her race to be much of an influence on what she is, it's who she is that matter, I just rolled the dice and made her elven.

Basically she is stern, she is no nonsense she kills when she wants and possesses the ability to do so.

Dont worry the belts aren't accessories. And to be honest this is a story with really abstract rules placed in for why characters can look like this so stay tuned.

>But please if this isn't enough info, I'm actively trying not to spoil alot in this story. Especially her story!
>>89668044
Hopefully once you see her in action the clothing will be the least of your worries.

Looking cute so far, I like their clothing designs, but I think the characters look a tad samey. They all have very similar faces/body types/hairstyles. Personally, I don't think similar faces/body types are as bad a problem as some people say, but your readers might confuse these characters since they all look so similar.

Secondly, these characters have pretty limited value ranges in their character designs. Since your colors are so wacky, you should use value to highlight important features/details of your character's designs. On purple dude, his (her?) skin blends in with his facial features and makes them harder to read. Try to up the contrast on your values.

>Color theory look it up
I know what color theory is, could you link me to the specific part that changes light to dark when you turn it grayscale?
>you'll be amazed what you could do with color
it kinda sounds like one of the things you can do with color is solve this apparent contrast problem with the grayscale version, by making the different parts easy to read and highlighting the details quite nicely
>>
>>89670788
interesting how in this version you can actually see subtle outlining on some of the garments, while it looks totally outlineless in color. The lack of outlines might be what gives the indication of a problem

I haven't seen much more than what Adult Swim aired, and about 6 of the movies, but you've gotta respect the way hyper kinetic cartoon movement is worked into stylish anime goodness. You can't help but draw lanky guys running after watching it.

>>

>>
>>89694383
What are you doing anyway? I'm not really one for technical skill anyway. Try experiment with colours and look up composition.... visual appeal is more important than measured out anatomy and plotting exact perspective. Also look up perspective, it's easier to learn than anatomy and you can experiment, for example by curving the horizon and crap.
>>

isn't it way worse to actually know how to draw and write, but the product of your labor still is an ignored comic on some obscure corner of the internet?

Western. I'm not so crazy as to intentionally write a comic backwards from my own culture.

>>89696734
lol. That's usually my default too. Especially if I'm a fan. The other is an audio cue from the Boondocks. The episode where Ruckus whips out those nunchucks out of nowhere. That song goes with almost anything.
>>
I'm struggling like crazy with this scene.. I'm trying to show someone having run along swinging the sword side to side, leaving a zig zagging swoosh through the air.. is there any chance someone has a video of that with someone using a glow stick or something so it traces the path through the air?

how about you pick something from real life that's fun, not terribly issuey, but also not very well-represented, and represent it. it doesn't have to be real.
what's a hobby or lifestyle you've always been fascinated with, or wondered if anyone has ever done? What's something you've maybe thought about doing, or tried to avoid doing? like.. going broke? becoming a street performer?
what about someone becoming a parent, or taking command of their life and doing something they've always wanted to do or only just realized they have nothing against but have been avoiding out of taught habit?

Try looking at news stories for inspiration, you could always come up with something out of that. Try imagining what the people featured in news stories are like, and use that as a starting point for characters. You could make a character drama set around almost anything, so play around with various real-life situation.

can you tell which? and which do you prefer?

everything gradiates so that sudden transition to green is a bit jarring.
the most saturted thing being the far off sky is not a good use and some parts could atand to go darker since its night

>>89703125
i dunno the context but that second panel might be best as as a full spread
not much differentiaton in color, not even for background vs foreground. everything kind of blurs together.

>>89703145
background kind of dissapears on the right.
not much detail where there could be. could use way better composition. color wise, again, fg vs bg problem

I just wasn't sure since it's from an anime and I'd imagine most writers would like to get their own stories drawn.
But if anyone is interested in writing a doujin for me to draw it'd be really nice.

Have some sketches as an example.
>>
>>89704276
Can the story not be little girls being tied up and punched... and getting a bikini wax...
Genuinely curious why draw this (no offense), its just not every artist just... draws this for exemplary purposes.

My comic is going good and while the audience is VERY small, people seem to enjoy it and that makes me happy (art still needs some work, slow and steady and all).
>>
>>89703890
lol, that wasn't my intention, but now that you've said it, I can't unsee it...
>>
>>89704381
I don't mind what it is about as long as it is sexy.
I just chose that as an example since it's the last LWA related thing I drew and only because I was curious about drawing BDSM.
Have another less recent and less graphic example.

Anyway, the story can be heavy on the cute side too if you are more comfortable with that.
Also the band-aids are just for posting it on a blue board.

They just look like goat furries to me. Megami Tensei did it first, though I suppose it's an unusual interpretation. Artwork looks on point, though unless it's a homoerotic comic, I don't understand why even the decrepit old goat-geezers need to have sixpacks. In fact, the fact that they do vastly increases the furry-factor.

Since we're sharing, I've been designing magical girls and mutated post-apocalyptic beasts for my own project.
