I haven't watched it (I had actually never even heard about the show before this news) but apparently he played a very good villain in The Get Down.

He's also apparently 6'3 and in a good shape so he can look intimidating.

I can see why especially since they're movies have been duds so far and Wonder Woman doesn't look like it will be better and with Affleck dropping out of directing Batman, and Flash changing directors and getting a re-write doesn't inspire much confidence.

But Aquaman IMO so far has been the one movie that has been having progress and James Wan has stuck from the beginning and has shown that he has a clear idea of what he's doing.

Only the idiot WB execs can ruin it and until then I'll be happy.

The only time I've ever liked Orm, and it's a really good subversion of the step/evil half brother trope especially since Orm actually likes his brother and his antagonism only comes as duty to his own Kingdom and it's not about hate or selfishness.

Heck when he saw Arthur come back from the Trench after he sent him there he told him "I'm so glad you didn't die" so I don't know why the Throne of Atlantis animated movie fucked him up so much (I honestly almost flipped the table when they had Orm kill his own mother).

Also Wilson being hyped for his role makes me a little hyped.
