I think pepe is the first meme that actually trascended memery. He's a third stage, the 48 chromosome being of fictional existance, the next dimension of our understanding. The post-meme.

It's funny if you think about it. Western culture is obsessed with doing and achieving. Always thinking about the future and neglecting the present even though the present is the only thing that we can perceive. What else is there besides the raw experience of the present? The future and the past are only concepts that help us enjoy the present but it seems we have forgotten about this fact.
I have been researching this topic lately and I found this lecture from Alan Watts. He can communicate the idea of why we love the concept of Gondola better than I ever could.
