I like what it was trying to do, it just did it badly. A lot of 00s shows were trying to ride the anime train, but they simply didn't have a ticket. They weren't delivering any of what we liked about anime, like good art, high production values, and violent and sexual content.

I want to fuck them all day and night.

It was actually really successful and pulled in high ratings. Someone in another thread pointed out that CN and bands with shows always always end with CN becoming incredibly petty and cancelling the show.
