Though perhaps not as well-known as Gwen Stacy, Mar-Vel's death is at least as iconic and far more important to the Marvel universe as a whole, so bringing him back would be an awful move. Of course, Marvel isn't a stranger to making some very questionable decisions, but with the way they keep pushing Carol and Kamala in the Marvel role and with Mar-Vel being a white male, there's no need to be concerned with them making that mistake any time soon.

Pretty sure that if the movie uses him he'll either be an Abin Sur/Obi-Wan type of mentor or Carol's supporting character/love interest who ends up dying close towards the end.

Or if they get a relatively popular actor and the director and writers see that he has chemistry with Brie he probably survives her movie and just goes back to Hala in the end (he survives in EMH so I can see them not choosing to kill him).

Also seeing what little they have shown of the Kree in the movies I can see them going with the Geheneris Hala'son Mahr-Vehl look (minus the fish thing).

Going by a "leak" supposedly the writerd were considering Mar-Vell and wondering what they would do with him or if they should just have his human alter ego be there instead without making him Kree.

No mention of him doesn't mean he's not part of her origin, anon. The psyche-magnetron spliced her DNA with Mar-Vells which is how she got her powers. Later in that very issue, she references the fact that she's part Kree and the kree part of her is because of Mar. The previous volume's whole first arc was about Mar-Vell. KSD's run had Carol traveling back in time to the point where she got her powers and it explicitly shows Mar-Vell.
