I don't think it was nearly as good as ATLA, but if you want to watch it, just watch it. Try a few episodes and decide for yourself. I know some people enjoyed it at least.

The show is decent though, if you realise she's supposed to be the shittiest Avatar ever and makes strives to keep that going right til the end

It's pretty far from ATLA's level but it's still a good show.
Try to not drop it on boring Book 2, it gets much better after it.

It's not even close to Atla though, and outside of bending might aswell be a different setting.

Yes, watch it; it has fantastic action choreography, art design, and animation. Book 3 is legitimately on par with ATLA. Books 1 and 4 are a mess. Book 2 is garbage.

Not him but I was such a massive fan of the original that I felt obligated to see it through. It's funny now how Book 2's finale is one of my most vivid memories of watching either show just because of the immense disappointment I felt.
