Translating Tristepin is like translating the name Tristan, why did they think this was a good idea? When I first watched it I went out of my way to edit the fansub subtitle files to change Grovy back to PinPin, it's unwatchable when the names spoken dont match the text.

Weird how these threads started about Wakfu and now they've switched to Dofus.

With the Ivory and Ebony Dofus under his guardianship I imagine Louis is fine having Joris be his Guardian. He is no doubt becoming more and more accepting of the idea of having a guardian. Especially after Julith tore him open.

Am i the only one who thinks wakfu is wasting its potential in terms of worldbuilding? There are more than twelve races, each one with its specific set of powers, gods and kingdoms, and yet we barely see any of it. It's kinda dissapointing.

Well the dofus animation material was really different form the wakfu animation material. They still have to tell a decent narrative, they can't be all Silmarillion and only focus on world building and lore because no one would buy it. If Ankama continues to live I imagine they will gradually show more and more of the world in their animation. People like Wakfu so they have to milk the characters as long as possible. I hope Season 3 is as far as they go with the current cast and we get a new cast after that.

How are the OVAs? I saw two seasons, read some comics and played that shitty MMORPG, anything else I should check out?

It goes like this: long ago under the name Eurofag (EF for short on the torrents) I translated the first handful of Wakfu episodes for /co/'s enjoyment, starting with episode 6, Vampiro as it was released. For the anecdote, as you may or not know, the initial episode release order was something like early web versions of 3, 5, then 6, 4, then the TV airing started with 1, 2, then new versions of 3, 4 same as web and linearly onwards.

Anyway, despite having seen early trailers for it at local cons, /co/ was the place that really made me discover Wakfu and when ep 6 came out, it seemed fair that I should give back and help /co/ enjoy it by subbing it. I went with the idea of localizing as many of the names as I could, and used Ankama's then-existing Wakfu blurb page as a basis. Said page localized Tristepin de Percedal as Sadlygrove of Percidal. Nothing indicated his nickname, and since Pinpin would not make any sense based on his english name, Grovy was born. It sounded groovy, hohoho. I regret nothing.

I have no idea why they changed which name was first later but whatever, they must've thought it sounded better or maybe that emphasizing the part of his name that was mostly invariant with translation it'd make toy branding easier.

I went on to translate eps 4,1,2,3 (in that order) then dropped the ball at episode 5 because I could not find that the puddlies were named puddlies in english, and probably also because it was the least enjoyable episode so far, and all in all I was becoming too busy with real life (I went on contributing by drawing some porn, teehee)

Anyway, the result is there is effectively at least three naming schemes as far as /co/'s concerned, the original french, the early /co/ english fansub version (I have actually no idea how far Grovy was kept into the fansubs), and the official english version.

Speaking of the manga, I tried reading tome 4 but for some reason the pages were horribly out of order. I did convert the .cbz to PFD because that's how all the other tomes I got were. Seeing as how the pages aren't all numbered its kinda hard to read it without risking spoilers.

Considering the world is set in a fantasy world they'll believe anything they are told. There isn't any sort of follow through by the public/citizens of Bonta to verify that Bakara graduated based on merit. Or that anyone has for that matter.

Given time she would either catch up and become a sufficient Huppermage or would have blundered and proven to many what a failure she is.

She can't even fly and every Huppermage we see can fly. She only flies in the movie when she takes the Ivory Dofus. Which shows that you don't need to be a guardian to use a Dofus, but you can certainly abuse the power obtained from the Dofus.

So far so good, and it's not like the script is set in stone. Mig already said he's had to change his plans for the last parts of Ogrest manga because of what's coming with the Brotherhood of the Forgotten in season 3. With how long the Wakfu manga is taking, one would think they have time to do similar edits if necessary (plus Tot actually works on that scenario so he already knew what was coming, logically).
