Star probably doesn't have a birth certificate or ID or any sort of official documentation beside her own word, and Mewni doesn't exactly seem to be important on Earth. She probably wouldn't be taken away by the government or anything for her magic because that and dimension-traveling seems known about to some extent, but she could end up in deep shit if she broke a serious law or went somewhere besides Echo Creek without her scissors or something.

Also I feel like being princess of Mewni doesn't mean too much outside of the royal wand being handed down there. The whole episode premise seems strange. Usually it's the person WITHOUT a significant other who becomes the third wheel. Either Jackie becomes jealous of Star and Marco's close bond with each other and Star is trying to make her feel better, or Star becomes even more jealous of the time Marco is spending with Jackie and is trying to go back to what they had before he started dating Jackie. But then why invite Jackie if neither Jackie nor Marco care? If the second case is what's going on, Star would probably want alone time with Marco.
