The funny part is that JJ actually intended to have the practical BB-8 puppet in as much of the movie as he could but kept running into situations where the puppet couldn't do what the script called for, hence needed a rig to make him go faster or just making him fully CGI in a lot of scenes.

I remember when people thought she'd died then. She definitely breaks quite a few rules of the Star Wars universe, though I'm not complaining because it's magick bitches and she doesn't have to explain shit.

She can go incorporeal, apparently teleport, summon item, form blazing sword (and it can match a lightsaber). Looks like her only problem is she was burning through her magick which is why she got stuck as an incorporeal wraith. Seems like she was lying to Mace (no surprise) about why she wanted the Living Force. She didn't want to make herself like them, it was because her battery was dry and without the other sisters she couldn't draw any power from Dathomir. As least that's how I understood it. She seemed to be getting worse, too, so by Son of Dathomir she was just an apparition and possessed Dooku to feed on his energy and recharge.

Presumably Talzin wanted the energy from the Dagoyan Masters to recharge and when that was denied her she resorted to possessing Dooku and feeding from his energy. She was really pressed for time in Son of Dathomir and didn't suck Dooku dry (is phrasing still a thing?) and wasn't able to rest before Sidious arrived. So she probably wasn't at full strength, plus Dooku joined Sidious for that fight. End result is she (appears) to have finally died for good.

I'm curious, though, if she'd managed to consume the Dagoyan Masters energy and this was as prelude to her battle with Sidious, maybe she might have triumphed. Maybe. It's possible that Mace and Jar Jar won but fucked over the galaxy - again.

I don't know if that's even true since I don't know if I'm interpreting events correctly, and even if I am there's still a huge number of variables. Talzin winning would I imagine be better for the galaxy. She would have her vengeance but she doesn't have an army and her sisterhood is smashed. Sidious' plans would crumble and she's not in a position to conquer squat. Mostly I just like the idea that Jar Jar broke the orb and fucked over the galaxy ultimately leading to Order 66, all those dead Jedi, and the rise of the Empire.

I never really followed the EU Mandos so I can't help much on that front. I mostly know the anecdotal crap, what I've read in the wook, etc. It's kind of fun in Battlefront 2 taking out Kamino with him as he leads the assault on their attempt to make a new clone army to combat the Empire. Of course in new canon (which was still part of the old since it was pre-purge) the Kaminoans wouldn't really give two shits. It's just a job to them. The betrayal, if they ever figured it out, wouldn't bother them. Even then the Empire would probably still wipe them out just to tie up loose ends. They took out anyone capable of building droid armies, I can't imagine they'd like anyone capable of making clone armies either.

I would certainly recommend Tarkin, Dark Disciple less so. Read Catalyst as well if you haven't already.

DD is worth it if your a TCW fan. Some people didn't like what it did with Assaj or Voss, but I didn't mind. It's not a great book by any means, but it's decent, and it gives closure to some parts of the TCW era.

Tarkin is good, though a bit technical at times. I think he did a better job on Catalyst.

Dark Disciple I'd say is worth reading if you know you're meant to take it as the Jedi's futile attempt at doing what the Sith have been so long doing to them with more or less everyone involved getting completely blown out for it in the end. The love story may get in the way of that description as it gets needlessly gratuitous and repetetive. Also, if only to provide a counterargument to the inevitable "TRUST ME" posters, everything Quinlan does from the second act onward is the result of his acting on feelings and emotions he, like many Jedi, would never have really come to understand - especially given the actions within are fueled by Dark Side corruption.

Give it a shot. A lot of shit happens, a lot of it you might say unforgivable on a couple characters' accounts, but there is reason for it beyond people's spouting autism or retardation.

In the original cut, he stomps past his people and snarls "Bring my shuttle." That's it.

In the altered version (inb4 some faggot says 'canon version' go fuck yourself kid), he spews out "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival."

The entire line steps all over the tension of the scene and the music and renders it almost laughably mediocre, when before it was almost palpable that he was only just holding his rage at Skywalker's denying him in check. Not to mention the sound mixing for it was off, so even with JEJ speaking the line, it sounded fake as fuck in the altered version.

Basically, of all the "additional" shit Lucas inserted into the films, that one by far is, to me, the most grievous affront, because it categorically does not nor cannot improve upon the scene.

Honestly his delivery in the Special Edition registers more as angry to me than the original did. The off mixing actually helped because it made Vader sound so sick of everything while he still trying to maintain his cool.
