How would you reboot Captain Planet?

Change Ma-Ti's power name to SPIRIT.
Captain Planet character redesign should stay clean crystal.

Make him not laughably weak to pollution.

Make pollution ACTUAL pollution and not just nondescript sludge. Plastics, nurdles, light pollution, noise pollution, greenhouse gases, eutrophication, etc.

And even throw in natural pollution. Shit happens in nature.

Captain Planet is like a 5 person Firestorm Fusion

Every member can power up together and give up their forms to create a Captain Planet that has all of their strengths at once. But the catch is, the more they divide their powers the less strong each piece is.

So you've got Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, and Love. Love is rewritten to be Nature or Spirit or literally anything that isn't Love. Point is, pretty much all the powers of Animal Man and Swamp Thing combined. Also that would he would act as the Sixth Ranger of the team, brought in for the second half of the season with some pretty kick-ass powers that get only cooler with fusions. Rock plus Fire equals Volcano Captain Planet, but toss nature into the mix and you get a giant firebreathing turtle monster with plated rock armor for skin

As for Captain Planet himself, he exists as a psychic link among all of the team members. Kinda like Infinity Man and the Forever People.

Was just about to say this. Instead of Infinity Man though I'd have him be more like OMAC. Make him a Hulk who can draw on and attack with literal forces of natures. I'd also give Gaia a bit of an edge. Have her resentful over humanity's contributions and apathy over the current environmental situation. If it was done well, people would start afraid of Cap, and by the end, cheer for him as he stops his rogues gallery and others like them. This isn't Superman, so people being afraid of him isn't bad, especially if, again, they do it right, people are angry over what hey see people doing to the world, and are cheering at the things they were afraid of earlier.
