It has tons of "filler". Specially first season.

But it all builds to stuff (it is the beginnings of the Rebellion, like some years before Rogue One) and season beginnings and endings are excellent.

First season is mainly the Ghost's crew stirring stuff in the occupied home world of their most recent and youngest teammate.

Second season is they acquiring more ships, people and stuff.

Third season second half looks specially interesting.

It's not as good as TCW in fact it's shit compared to it

If you like the idea of a consistent cast of characters forming a family and having fun adventures then it's good. If you want each of those adventures to dramatically advance the plot, then you'll see a lot of the show as filler.

The writing improves as the series goes, so it starts out quite corny and cheesy but steadily gets more interesting and complex.

Just try it, I guess. but be aware the first few eps won't be the best the show can manage.

Not really. The first season wasn't too exciting, but every episode in it had something that payed off later on. Even the episode where Ezra and Zeb steal a Tie has pay-off. Second season is filler-central.

Third is still fairly fillery, but not as much as the second.

Personally I hated Clone wars, couldn't get past the second season, but recently I started watching reruns of Rebels on Disney XD and I was hooked.

Love the entire crew and only problems I have are the reused characters and planets, I realize the creators have a budget to work with but constantly recycling the same bad guys and same planet makes the "galaxy" seem more like a small solar system where the empire only has a handful of employees and they constantly run into the same 5 managers.

It's okay, none of the characters are very interesting. Ezra is space aladdin, Kanan is just less angry, less powerful Anakin from TCW, Sabine is a special snowflake, the droid is a shit, and the other two are just kinda there. At least Hera is a hot Twilek.

Also, why do they keep that fucking droid around, it's tried to murder one or more of the crew on at least a dozen separate occasions
