Oh man this was a great, everything i originally loved about. Adventure, lore, the feels, Finn being cucked by lesbians. Yep, this was a perfect mini. An so far i am...not hating season 8
>>
>>89482349
Why can't AT just be mini series seasons from now on?

I found it boring, uninspired and overall just dull.
The same story could have been told in 2 episodes.

Will we ever see Susan and her new gf again?
What state will Ooo be in when Finn and Jake return home?
Is Fern a threat?
Will more humans come to Ooo?

So does the Guardian protect only the main island or all four? I can't tell if the Seekers/Hiders dynamic extended to all four of those or just the mainframed one.
Did they just decide to abandon the old one when the virus spread and resettle all the population to island #4 while leaving island #2 to the VR crowd that'd be too weak to move safely? Why did no one care about the humans on island #1 being all killed by monsters and crazy weather? Were those all hiders?

>>89483138
If Adventure Time was even remotely as popular here as it used to be, you'd have thousands of macros and webms from the "buff BMO as a mod" part and generally the VR part

Yes, it will be a shitty subplot like ice kings girlfriend
The exact same its like you never watched the show
Fern will accidentally out of the plot when he sacrifices himself killing something
No, if they do it will be a one time cameo
>>
I find it odd that no one's talking about how Minerva is just a palette swapped Bubblegum and how that implies Finn's attraction to PB is just an Oedipal complex stemming from his subconscious memories of Minerva from infancy.
>>
>>89483464
I find it odd that Susan had an entire town full of mutated humans with her and also had mutations herself and now there is no explanation for either thing
>>
>>89483458
Well, you're cynical.
>>
>>89483464

Daily reminder that shows don't accidentally crap out classic episodes after they've lost their spark, Adventure Time has always been great, and /co/ has no taste.
>>
I feel kinda bad that raggedy princess rarely ever has anyone to talk to.
>>
>>89483533
I have always liked the show, but the fact is that its episodic nature doesnt get me very excited for new episodes unless they look like they are going to be continuity heavy. The mini-series are pretty good for that.

The only stuff I really don't like are the implications caused by past episode, like Martin looks even worse now abandoning his family cause of past crimes coming back to bite him

Apart from that it was pretty solid. Good mix of fun adventure and interesting concepts, but unlike usual it actually followed through on ideas.

The show is set up so that any given episode can focus on hundreds of different characters and corners of Ooo. Even if you limit the focus to the main characters the amount of variety in what type of story you're going to get is nearly boundless. I like the extensive lore and high stakes stuff but am just as if not more happy to see a horse running around on a beach ball go through an existential crisis.

I'm not really an avid watcher of AT at all. I've seen some of the later stuff and a few early episodes, but I usually only drop in here to see if new episodes are worth it.

Grain of salt and all. I liked Islands. I thought Finn acted like a consistent, grown-up hero guy. Seemed like a legit bro. But I keep hearing he's shit on in the regular show most of the time. What's going on? Anyone wanna fill me in?
>>
>>89483138

>>
>>89483533
WRONG.

Even this season has not gone without it's bad episodes. High Strangeness (?) and that new James Baxter episode were meh at best.
>>
>>89482349
Same famalama. Really enjoyed it. More than Stakes.

Maybe I'm just a lorefag but I really liked the whole backstory of the humans. How their society worked, how Susan, Martin, Finn all fit together in the story and the confrontation between Finn and his Mom about leaving the island.

>>
>>89483464
I like how much you can see of young Martin in Fin. He's still not a good person, but you can understand Martin more seeing the environment he came from.
>>
>>89484656
Tree trunks has 2 husbands and she made them touch hands.

On top of that the episode pushes muh political agenda, it was bad. Shut the fuck up.
>>
>>89484645

>>
>>89484690
If you don't love the idea of a tiny green elephant voiced by an ancient southern belle getting abducted by aliens enough times throughout her life to have sired children with them that she loves enough to tirelessly fight against a corrupt fascist government by herself then you are simply depriving yourself. And you don't understand Adventure Time.
>>
>>89484775
Stop pretending, now that we all liked Islands you don't have to pretend that all the episodes the AT team shit out are good.
>>
>>89483138
>Oh wow, this place is objectively interesting.
>>
>>89483364
Good thing we know your opinion about it now. We were all waiting to hear what you thought about it.
>>
>>89484695
Yeah as opposed to your amazing argument ''they were fantastic''. How could I ever refute that?
The ''artsy'' episodes of AT are boring, badly paced and reviewed negatively by the majority. If we had 20 episodes of Baxter a season no one would watch the show anymore.
>>
>>89484818
So they shit out eight great episodes in a row randomly then? Please just stop.
>>
>>89484242

Are you retarded? Susan was one of the 2 only female human characters. It isn't that big of a stretch to connect the dots from there, plus all the token dyke shit is annoying. Sounds to me like you just don't want anyone to complain about it at all.
>>
>>89484867
I never said that the team is bad, once they commit to a story and try to actually write something good together they can make magic happen. But if they don't try you get shit episodes.
>>
>>89483172
is the ban a prema or only temporary because it seems like a disturbing prospect to be kicked out of your life
>>
>>89484857
You're right, a talking horse who rides around on his beach ball becoming sad after it pops is simply too artsy for the masses. I'm surprised there weren't riots in the streets after they went back to that well twice.
>>
>>89484909
>Are you retarded? Susan was one of the 2 only female human characters. It isn't that big of a stretch to connect the dots from there

Do you not see your blatant hypocrisy? You are drawing on literally nothing to support a romance between Finn and Susan, but complain that a PB/Marceline romance makes no sense.
>>
>>89484893
>complains about people complaining about other people's opinions
>states his opinion as if it's fact
Nigger what?
>>
>>89483533
No, seasons 4-6 were shit and I don't want to watch season 7, I already gave it too many chances.
>>
>>89484977
Are you even literate? I just stated what I was basing the prospect of a finn/susan romance on. I am not joking, can you legitimately read?
>>
>>89483533

>>
>>89484982
He claimed that people who liked certain episodes were just pretending retard.

Also, I shouldn't have to preface every opinion with an 'I think' or an 'IMO.' That much should be implied.
>>
>>89484916
Oh ok so they're only "trying" if a place that is the ultimate arbiter of taste like /co/ universally likes it. And they stop "trying" immediately after a string of eight great episodes in a row because fuck it who cares. Got it.
>>
>>89485053
>He claimed that people who liked certain episodes were just pretending retard.

A piece of fire that he couldn't touch. He needs to make babies some day or another.
>>
>>89485062
Stop sucking islands dick. It was far from perfect and some episodes certainly suffered from modern AT complex. It was just better than what we've seen in the past couple of seasons. Making some good episodes won't magically erase all the shit we've suffered.
>>
>>89485103
Jesus Christ.
They made a statement as if it weren't possible for people to have different opinions, hence saying they must be pretending. Obviously they were joking, but my reply was in response to that.
>>
>>89485286
Do you need help carrying those goalposts? Or is Islands objectively bad now? I'm just trying to ease the suffering.
>>
>>89485296
>Obviously they were joking
Wow, you just made yourself look like an idiot in 3 words.
>>
>>89485254
Never stated that the episodes are too artsy for the masses. Maybe you need a 3rd time reading it but I guess It won't help , retard.
>>
>>89485350
You claimed how something is received by the majority as if that somehow is directly correlated to the content of a work of art. According to you being "artsy" is bad because it's poorly received by the masses. And then you proceeded to cite an episode where the eponymous James Baxter gets sad after he pops his beach ball on a dying mole creature as an example of being too artsy. So I made fun of you.
>>
>>89485334
Not even the same poster, but your argument is stupid. Making eight great episodes(which weren't even that great relax) doesn't mean they couldn't make bad episodes in the past. Yeah and if Xylophone shits out a good episode it's random luck by now, the numbers don't lie.

(not that anon,) I definitely think something can have a simple plot while still being artsy, but I do agree with you, Horse and Ball wasn't artsy... I felt the backstory wasn't very interesting, but otherwise it reminded me of s4 Adventure Time.
>>
>>89485487
Television shows don't just miraculously have good episodes after they have supposedly gone to shit, which is what everyone immediately starts yelling about any time this show is brought up.
>>
>>89485489
Go watch the episode "Elemental."

Possibly "Evergreen" as well, since you would be able to figure out the answer to your second question if you had already seen it.
>>
>>89485442
>According to you being "artsy" is bad because it's poorly received by the masses.
No you just pulled this out of your ass cause you're a dense prick who can't read. Being artsy is not bad, it's just the AT episodes which try to be artsy that are bad. If you can't distinguish which ''meta''episodes I'm referring to , it's not my fault. It's you being a dense prick again.
>>
Requesting Finn wearing these briefs.
>>
>>89485558
lol wut so television shows can't have dips in quality? Who fucking says that?
>>
>>89485630

>>
>>89485603

>>
>>89485675

>>
>>89485704

>>
>>89485639
Name one television show that completely lost their mojo only to reclaim it again. It doesn't happen.
>>
>>89485675
I think it's supposed to be a defecation reference.
>>
I think AT has always been good, but there was definitely a dip in consistency in season 6. While there were still the highs of earlier seasons (Is That You, YFYF, Jake the brick, Everything's Jake, Walnuts and Rain etc etc), we got some shit like Chips ad Ice Cream and Sad Face.

I didn't actually mind Breezy
>>
>>89485729
Remember Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind? Good Simspons eps are scattered between shit and mediocrity in the later seasons.

We just don't know if Adventure time's got its groove back anyway... We still haven't seen the rest of s8, let alone any of season 9. And apart from the islands and the opening pair, the episode quality has been about the same as that of season 6 or 7, fluctuating between a 4 and 7 out of 10. If I feel in the mood enough to rewatch wheels, I'll also be in exactly the same kind of mood to rewatch be sweet, nemesis or jake the brick or something. I'm still not sure how I feel about adventure time RN, I don't hate it, I even love a ton of the new eps, it's just there's a massive toneshift especially since s6.

>tfw watched half of s8 already, forever until new eps
It was underwhelming. I can't believe Minerva never even asked Finn about Martin. What a waste of time.
>>
>>89485908
So you're gonna bring up The Simpsons as a show that reclaimed it's mojo after it was lost. Really. Keep rating episodes out of ten friendo.
>>
>>89485860
The only actual bad thing in Breezy was LSP, Finn's behaviour in the episode was understandable from his standpoint, I liked the "lost in the darkness" song and how it did a good job to reflect what he was feeling
>>
>>89485934
Why would she asked about the dude who presumably kidnapped her son
Martin could have easily gone back to those islands, but he didn't
He also didn't tell Finn anything about his mom so why would you care?
>>
>there are hundreds of humans left in the AT world
>Finn's entire past has been revealed
Anyone else feels like this ruins the AT universe? It removes so much of the romance, that magic that made the world seem vast mysterious and interesting.
>>
>>89485973
No, I gave it as an example of shows which produce a couple good episodes between mediocrity or crap, just like adventure time (more on the mediocrity side for AT). What exactly was the quality difference between Wheels and Ocarina or Susan's flash back episode and Dark Purple?
>>
>>89485995
Presumably being the key word here. Any normal person would want to know the truth.
>>
>>89486010
it still feels like it has stuff to be explored, but yeah it takes the mystery about Finn away

Since the show is walking towards the end now, it's understandable

Will do.
>>
>>89485675
It means he's really good at taking a shit.

>>89485729
Why do I have to deal in such absolutes? I never said AT is completely irredeemable you're just pushing that silly idea for no apparent reason. Plenty of shows dip in quality and AT certainly had a big dip in the last couple of seasons.
>>
>>89485985
I agree. It's one of the best episodes that season.
>>
>>89486173
Well, Jelly Beans Have Power and Islands have some heavy Evangelion shit on them -including fucking Ramiel
>>
>>89485995
Martin is a badly written character and not telling Finn anything about his past was part of that. Thank god Minerva wasn't so unreasonably whacky. Anyway she is standing right there as the seekers are handcuffing the angry mob, she probably knows he didn't kidnap her son.
>>
>>89486325
I didn't catch any Eva references in Islands...
>>
>>89486010
To some extent I agree but I think I'm sort of a finicky asshole who always prefers something to remain mysterious rather than getting resolved. It's usually cooler that way to me.

However that doesn't mean writers should just never fucking disclose stuff, that would probably be way more frustrating. So I'm cool with it.
>>
>>89484942
I imagine that it's temporary just so I can go on believing that BMO hasn't committed wanton murder.
>>
>>89486372
>>89485995
I maintain that Martin suffered some memory loss as a result of the explosion and getting knocked into the ocean, which is why his recollection in The Visitor was so hazy on details.
>>
>>89485227
So CN is just gonna let this thing stay up forever huh

I'd be surprised if Islands got any views when it airs on TV, there's so many ways for people to watch it early
>>
>>89486428
That would make it more funny though.
I love the idea of those whiny homos getting banned cause BMO's a true og who stands up for his bros then they basically rot in their pod with nothing else to do for the rest of their life.

For all we know the new season is going to have 40+ episodes like 6 and 7. Not to mention Islands airs and concludes in early Feb, new episodes shouldn't be that far away. Remember, they've been making episodes all this time during the hiatus.
>>
>>89486533
I feel like it's way different. If you wanna watch Islands as it airs you gotta settle with two episodes a day as opposed to finding one of the many sources online and satisfying yourself all at once. Pretty different from just a regular 11 minute episode leaking.

They did the same thing for Stakes didn't they? But I feel like there sure as hell weren't full versions of Stakes available on Youtube for like a week.
>>
>>89484242
I do feel that Finn loses fights a lot more than is appropriate for his character but that's about it.
And this problem is likely just cause the writers wanna be lazy and don't feel like creating conflicts that Finn has to deal with in the way he logically should.
>>
>>89486463
Hopefully because some of his actions were bizarre, specially when you take into account that he loved Finn and Minerva and he told him that he would ''come back''. He seemed really eager to leave every time he met Finn.

Also how the hell did a small time crook end up in a cosmic prison? Huge leap skill wise.

Episode 1, the ship arrives to retrieve Susan. They travel and the story of Finn's dad and mom is told.
Episode 2, they arrive at the island with the clone robots and everything progresses the same way.

Everything else was pointless fluff. Susan's old friend was pointless. VR humans and BMO was pointless. Weather island was pointless.
It was a whole lot of unfunny nothing.

I guess you COULD have a third episode to narrate the relationship between Finn's parents. But it added absolutely nothing. He was a conman asshole, she fell in love with him for no reason.

Rephrase it however you want. The narrative around here is that Adventure Time was once great and now it isn't, which is not the case. It has maintained a consistent level of quality throughout. Shows don't go through big dips in quality and come out the other side. It didn't happen with The Simpsons, and it doesn't happen anywhere else.

Absolutely no way this would've been worked.

It's not just rephrasing, it makes a huge difference. And shows can go through big dips of quality it has happened numerous of times. In most cases the show never reaches its peak again and AT certainly hasn't managed to reach its early season status, so the argument remains.

I felt like Finn's crisis was just pretty dumb. Finn went through some tough stuff in season 6 but it was never to the extent that he seemed to want to give up on life or something, so the conversation with the comet was pointless. Finn didn't have to reaffirm his desire to see life through because he never let it fade, he just got a little sad and tired at points.

Comet was mostly eh and could have been done in a more interesting way.

I just found the entire thing boring. It was oddly lacking in background music, which made it all seem even more drab.
I was expecting fun adventures, not redudant visits of already explored ideas just to delay the actual objective of the miniseries.

>>89486953
The show has always had a stellar quality, and it's a shame that so many viewers felt unsatisfied. Better writers than I have explained the difference between the appeal of instant gratification episodes, and episodes that leave you thinking.

The virtual reality episode in particular resolves its conflict in such a way that the average viewer may not give it a second thought once the credits roll, or worse, think the episode pointless afterward.

The fortunate viewers take the concept of the episode and puzzle it over. Perhaps they consider the allure of a better reality, total freedom and unlimited resources, and want to try it themselves. Perhaps they see the shriveled, weak bodies of the inhabitants and are disillusioned with virtual trickery, that being a part of digital reality, immune from struggle, makes one less human.
>>
>>89487390
That's your opinion, give facts
>>
>>89487331
We're talking about dips in quality. You literally asked for a show with a big dip in quality which didn't reach its former peak and you got one. Now you're moving the goalposts and saying that it's just a ''shell'' of its former self. That's just a better way of saying the same thing. Fuck off for the last time. AT had a big dip in quality in the later seasons and that's why it lost so many fans/viewers even threads on /co/. . I believe this. Martin couldn't even get his name right the first time they met.

IMO Martin somewhat improved his memory as a father every time he interacted with Finn. Sure, he was an asshole at the citadel. However, I think he genuinely wanted to spend time with Finn at the end of "The Visitor". There was no incentive for him to lie about waiting for Finn and travel to space together with him (also he did tell the truth on how to stop the comet ship from exploding). He also saved Finn from dying in space in "The Comet". Again, no incentive for him to do so.

It could be just my crazy thoughts but maybe if they interacted more, maybe we would have seen the comeback of the Martin we saw in Islands.

So all the stuff with the humans shown in the miniseries was happening less than 20 years ago.

But what about everything before that? Were these islands existing ever since the start of the war? The video Gross showed seemed to imply that but I'm not sure. I certainly think that some places like the whole VR world sure as hell couldn't have lasted that long though.

I guess the comic that released before has more info on this but I haven't read it yet.

Adventure Time lost a lot of steam because it stopped being a weekly show. I remember at least 3 seasons were aired week after week, with maybe a short month break in between once a year.
Also because Steven Universe happened and that show was everything people wanted AT to be, instead of just being AT.
Childish surrealism is AT's motif.

Pretty much. I remember when the first seasons were weekly, aired on Monday 7c and with regular two or three month hiatus. Crew departures were determinant to the decrease in regularity within seasons.

>>89489230
Finn even specifically mentions that he doesn't want to leave right away, immediately before they cut to him boarding the boat. In retrospect it's total nonsense. There should have been like a little montage or something in there at the very least
>>
>>89489230
They were already about 30 seconds out ot range. AT normally has 11 minutes with 10 seconds including the opening so thats about 10 minutes with 50 seconds of episode. This one had 11 minutes and 5 seconds and some animation was actually larger on the final cut that in the animatics. I definitely think this was an error, because it looks rushed up. In case you want to watch the animatics by yourself https://mega.nz/#F!oxJEjaIZ!AbEPhqKDX_L3NlEFnml7EA
>>
>>89489164
>>89489230
Yeah, I really would've preferred Finn staying 3 months, or at least some decent time. Minerva's line "You can't teach a fish to dance overnight" as Finn was about to board the ship gave the impression that Finn was leaving the next morning after the Light Cloud incident, which really didn't give them enough time together. Maybe the writers were having trouble jiving Finn spending enough time with his mom and the other humans not being ready to leave.
>>
>>89489449
I could see that being a problem, but they could at least do something more reasonable like have Finn stay there for at least a week or something.

Since that animatic didn't make it into the episode there's really no way to be sure how much time Finn canonly stayed there.

I consider animatics as the final deal since those are the ones that they shipped to Korea. Corrections are rare on that instance, and mostly made with a director's note or with a conference call. Since Minerva's surname was corrected on Helpers, i think it was a one mans deal that led to that error.

Blah blah typical "I haven't watched since ___" post

Last episode I watched was "Breezy" two years ago

Is it worth watching again? This human stuff seems interesting
>>
>>89493976
Getting a biased response but I's say so. Though there have been like, fuuuuuck, 80 or 90 episodes that have aired since then, so good chunk behind, unless you beeline the plot relevant episodes.
>>
>>89493976
Just do it so you can be said that you caught up again.
>>
>>89494010
I'm a completionist, I only started watching about a year and a half before that episode aired and I finally lost interest but in that time I watched every episode in quick succession.

How are the non plot relevant episodes? The Adventure Time I loved before it went downhill around when I stopped watching had great filler.

>>89494038
Good point, I'm the type of person that not having something finished will nag at.
>>
>>89494230
Filler one's are still pretty good, do get a few clunkers but I would say they're the exception and not the rule. Gonna be honest, not near classic AT's quality but still fun and interesting enough. And classic AT was so good that it's a tough bar to reach.

If you wanna catch up for when Islands airs then you should get to it, starts Monday.
>>
>>89494230
I think everything-wise, s6 and s7 have been the weakest, and s8's are still a (good) bit less than s5, but overall, the non-plot episodes are about the same as season 5's, if you sat through Bad Timing, I think you can bear Waterpark Prank.

Thanks for being honest with me and not giving a fanboy shill answer of "real fans will watch anything once it has the title".

It's a pity that from what you've said they likely won't reach the apex of the show that was back before the sixth season but I hope it will at least get back up there.

I'd definitely be disappointed if Pendleton Ward didn't have an ending planned since it's been going on for so many years and I hope he does. Too many shows have a bad ending or no ending at all because the network didn't order another season and the writers were either unprepared or expected it to be renewed.

Does anyone know if that's the case, that he has an ending planned? I can't find anything online, everything that comes up is in relation to the announcements that it will end after the ninth season.

Also thanks for taking the time to answer me anons, I appreciate it.

Excluding Stakes, what was so great about s7?
>>
>>89494699
No problem bb, talking in depth about AT's quality is always weirdly fascinating to me.

I don't think there's been any news about the ending of the show itself, though I'm pretty sure the staff has already written it and are now voicing/animating it. There was talk like two years ago of a movie that Pen is very involved with but we haven't heard much more about that so I have the feeling it's not gonna see the light of day. Besides that we don't know about the ending.

I certainly hope the show gets a good ending, despite all the wacky shit it's done over the years it deserves it. Not to spoil anything but I thought the Islands miniseries had a pretty good ending that could have been applied to the show at large had it not been continuing.
>>
>>89494873

>>
>>89494873
your opinions seem to be the opposite of most /co/ AT fans

but I thought season 7 was pretty good, they focused more on just using the characters for light hearted stories that could still get serious but weren't nearly as obnoxious as the worst of season 8's existential deep shit could be. lots of episodes I liked in season 7.
>>
>>89494941
opps, meant to say season 6's existential deep shit
>>
>>89494941
I liked season 7, but I think it's one of the weakest seasons, every seems to talk about getting back to it's roots, but does it? It has the same "deep shit", even in its best eps, watch Hall of Egress again, "egress"? Tons of the episodes suck like summer showers and crystal dimension... And the "adventure episodes" haven't really got much in common with season 1 or 2's... Football was probably the episode most like an earlier season DESU at least more so than something like mama said which everyone cited as proof season 7 was gonna be the thing.
>>
>>89494874
I certainly hope you're right on them being two steps ahead of what they're putting out but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since they've been at this for years and while they may not have been able to capture the same special quality there once it's still AT.

Pen ending the series with a film would be interesting in my opinion. It would give him a lot of time to work with that he doesn't have in a quarter of an hour timeslot but on the flipside it opens up a whole other can of worms.

For starters it'd be more likely than not to suffer from the syndrome that most established franchises that release films suffer from in that it tries to appeal to both fans and people who have no idea what they just walked in to see, usually meaning it appeals to neither.

The only remedy I could see to this would be that they have it go straight to DVD or television but then it could still suffer from the same problems that films in these situations suffer from, they try to make it a self contained arc rather than an ending to the rest of the series.

I may be wrong here because AT is different in that a film would likely be at least 6 episodes long in time but my gut tells me otherwise.

In regards to the last season I hope they either get in all the good ideas they've had for years but never acted on or save them for a future AT related show down the line that they know for a fact that they'll be able to do. It would be a shame to read in a few years about all the good ideas they had that never made it to the screen.
>>
>>89495096
people probably do inflate its greatness a little bit just because they were damn relieved to be out of season 6, but I do think it's still pretty good. Hall of Egress was pretty artsy fartsy but I thought it was more on the cool side than Jesse's shit.
were some weak ones (I thought episodes like Blank Eyed Girl, Broke His Crown, Thin Yellow Line, Reboot) but I felt that there were more than enough greats to make up for it. Flute Spell, Elemental, Don't Look, Crossover, Normal Man, lots of stuff I did quite like.
I'd probably put it somewhere near season 4's quality, which I'm very satisfied with.

and the fact that you liked Football and thought Mama Said was a piece of shit shows that you got good taste and are my African comrade, so good on you there.
>>
>>89495096
I loved season 7 because it was a blend of everything that makes AT great. I would describe season 7 as a 'fixed' season 6, keeping some of the more serious philosophical tone, but also balancing it nicely with the more light-hearted adventures that the early seasons did so well.

Hall of Egress was amazing, not sure what you're talking about here.
>>
>>89495275
Football does not get nearly enough love. What a gem of an episode.
>>
>>89495349
fucking right? best BMO episode in ages, it had surprisingly good tension and atmosphere for what was going on, good and thriller-like.

>>
Unrelated, but how have the comics and graphic novels been lately? I heard a few people mention they were better than the show awhile back, I haven't read up to date but last I checked they were pretty interesting.

Islands was pretty interesting and had some cool ideas, nice to see how they connected a few of their plot points.
Would still like to see Finn return to being a bad ass in combat though, he really looks out of his depth as of late.
>>
>>89495426
I've been so out of touch with the comics, especially the main series which I haven't read in like 2 years. I'm not sure if they're still good since they changed both writers and artists (I think? I know Ryan North is gone for sure) so they may be crap now, seen some people complaining about them.
They've made a lot more graphic novels recently, the last one I read was Graybles Schmaybles or whatever where Finn and Jake take care of some cube thing, I think there's 2 or 3 more that have come out past that.

With the sponoffs I just read Banana Guard Academy finally which was pretty fun, and am gonna start Marceline Adrift which seems real interesting and well drawn.

Playing with Fire is the only novel I've read, thought it was a really awesome story. Its a shame though the tv show hasn't really done anything with FPs character.

Susan's "mutations" were augmentations from Dr. Gross. She was a real human among the Hyoomans but because of her hat and losing her memory, she probably thought she was from their tribe instead of remembering her objective.

why were they going to a funeral?
>>
>>89497610
> why were they going to a funeral?
Rattleballs? Finn has his rapier in the miniseries. We were shown that he's reassembled, but he wasn't moving in that scene, so maybe he's a vegetable now. Or maybe he just gave up on being a swordsman after that defeat and the funeral is someone's else.
>>
>>89497541
Her body died. She uploaded her mind.
>>
>>89497659
Pretty sure the sword Finn has wasn't actually Rattleballs, some anon in another thread was saying the colouring is different.
>>
>>89483390
The first island was probably fucked up by some malfunctioning weather control technology early in its colonisation, while the second island was probably abandoned to quarantine the VR tech. I find it interesting that in all three of the abandoned islands it was a new technology run amok that caused the problem (weather tech on island one, VR tech on island two, Dr. Gross' virus on island three).
>>
>>89497541

I wish Finn stayed with the humans for a while...

I was one of the anons discussing the sword in that thread. The rapier Finn wields in Islands has a golden guard. The rapier Rattleballs wields has a silver guard in his introductory episode BUT it has a golden guard in the newer episodes like Reboot.

You can't just say "shows" in plural and only come with one example. Most of seasons 2 and 3 of Lost were shit, but 4 and 5 were the best seasons of the show. Twin Peaks had the biggest dip in quality in any show ever after the big reveal one third in on the second season, but near the end it really picked up speed and had a crazy good finale.

So you're saying that some viewers see the episode for what it showed and others autistically try to squeeze every single bit of potential the concept has but the episode failed to deliever?

Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode, but I think you're seeing things that aren't really there. The writers put those things up as a neat background thing for a reason, that is because it isn't the focus of the story and it doesn't have to be. That and because VR machines with weakened humans are really basic stuff in science fiction, I assume.

Even Fallout 3 had those damn things. AT having them isn't that new or interesting.
>>

Swedish according to someone on tumblr

4:08 - Stop! Nej nej nej! = Stop! No no no!

4:13 - Ledsen Albert, det där är inte mat. = Sorry Albert, that’s not food.

4:19 - Huh, det var mig en märklig en. = Huh, that sure is a strange one.

4:23 - Har inte träffat någon som honom på länge, det är nog bäst att vi tar reda på vad han gör här. Kom Albert! = I haven’t met someone like him in a long time, it’s probably best if we find out what he’s doing here. Come Albert!

6:25 - En hund! = A dog!

6:59 - Ahh, jag trodde det skulle se bättre ut. = Ahh, I thought it would look better.

8:42 - (the text on the movie screen) Skaderapport: Film Nummer Ett 3/1 = Damage report: Film Number One 3/1

9:19 - Hunden! = The dog!

10:20 - Nej nej, inte den! Vi är här, mitt land, andra länder. = No no, not that one! We are here, my land, other countries.

So, which real life countries would be Ooo and Founders Island respectively? Considering that the sea levels got raised a lot due to one fourth of the planet being nuked to destruction. I'm thinking that the Islands are part of the UK, Founders Island would be Ireland.
>>
>>89515841
Nah, if that was an upside down post catastrophe Europe then the island would be on the other side were it Ireland.

Spain is basically directly below Ireland and everything to the left of that is either Portugal or Sea, completely uninhabitable.
>>
>>89515841
so the islands were supposed to be a phoenix right? a hamhanded visual to represent the return of humanity after the disaster?
>>
>>89516732
The phoenix part is ooo. It could still be a message about surviving after the war.
>>

For the many mistakes and huge fuckups Adventure Time has had, Islands has not been one of them. It left me feeling this immense, strange sense of emptiness, like I need time to really process all this shit that went down. I enjoyed all of it, especially the simulation and Dad episode. This show's come a long, bumpy, shifty way.
>>
>>89517027
A) No they don't, not over such a short time period, and not that much no matter what the cataclysm.
B) That's not the point. Those don't even look like continents. They look like swirls on the surface of a latte.

It does seem pretty unlikely that Sweden would survive, what with the low landscapes.

Maybe the islands are just the mountain peaks of Norway sticking out of the sea, and everyone in Scandinavia adopted Swedish culture and language prior? Would explain the shitty weather on the 1st island.

You're just about to hit a pretty good run of episodes IMO. I would only skip Chips and Ice cream and Water Park Prank because a) they're pretty shit and b) they have no bearing on the plot. Everything else at least fits one of these categories.
>>
>>89521510
As in they're either good, or are plot-relevant. Sorry should've explained that better
>>
>>89482479
They first met. "Susan Strong, you make my heart Strong" n' shit. There were heavy vibes boyo.

But yeah, I'm getting tired of the cucking and dyking. I was finally getting used to Finns original love interests lezzing out over eachother and they go "WELL BETTER ADD MORE LESBIANS. MAKE IT GAYER"
>>
>>89521542
Finn needs a better endgame first. Someone who knows what it's like to be cucked to death.
>>
>>89519922
So Minervabots turned off their bones?
>>
>>89521865
Technically, HW got cucked so hard she got spiritually banished. And she currently spies on Finn.
>>
>>89521865

for real i was totally fine with pb/marce when flame princess was introduced. honestly felt more real and i thought a good step away from the traditional love interest that the hero can never get but keeps trying for.

whoever decided to end finn and flame princess and add cinnamonbun was idiotic, constant tension from her being "evil" from her lineage and her literally being made of fire, there was enough there to write stories and have tension but wtf its like they actually want finn to be a cuck and it actually hurts his spunky upbeat personality, hes become depressing.
>>
>>89521865

Do you guys think Finn still has a chance with Flame Princess?

I mean, they're on good terms and she and CB are really just friends
>>
>>89520144
They certainly did in the UK.
>>
>>89521977
I must've missed her episode, what's she like?
>>
>>89522040
I think it's a 40/60 but Finn might be no longer interested and mostly focused on being in good terms with her.
>>
>>89522040
Who knows. Jeremy Shada might know something, since he wants Finn to end up with a princess at the finale.

>>
>>89522006
I disliked Frost and Fire most for, not what it did to Finn, but what it did to Flame Princess. So much potential for storytelling as she tried to distance herself from her evil nature, that was somewhat explored in Vault of Bones, but never really went anywhere after that. I didn't care about them staying together either, but there's no excuse for dropping the ball with FP.

>>
>>89522070

since she was a background character fr many seasons itll just feels odd to have finn end up with her.

now im actually expecting fern i didnt even think of it wtf thats going to be terrible.

finn better end up with FP or Canyon i honestly cant see anything else being a satisfying conclusion.

unless of course we get badass adventurer finn and he has a lesbian harem with all the girls, that would work.
>>
>>89522071
Maybe I'm alone in this but FP seemed like a mistake from the moment she was introduced. She's not that compelling, Marceline already had that struggle vs evil arc and she's not that compelling either. Aside from that her personality is selfish, rash and generally unpleasant.

People hate that ep you mentioned but I get the feeling they were just trying to correct their mistake they made as fast as possible, so I'm OK with it.
>>
>>89521865

Finn has only 4 possible endgames at this point

>Flame Princess
>Huntress Wizard
>Canyon
>Single
>>
>>89522155
>Canyon

>>
>>89522146
I don't actually hate the episode itself, and I'm probably one of the only people who didn't mind Finn's depression arc, but I thought FP had potential as more of a solo character. Tying down Finn to her so soon was definitely a mistake.

>>
>>89522255
If I could, I would gladly bet $100 on Fern NOT getting with Huntress Wizard. That's how confident I am.
>>
>>89522274

Even without Fern, I still think Finn is likelier to end up single tbqh
>>
>>89522255
I doubt that will happen. Fern is not Finn, it's just a Cthulhu who put the Finn Sword Finn in a grass cocoon and assumed his appearance. Aside from some memory lapses, he's not Finn. He's just a different entity.

And the Finn Sword Finn is the same Finn from S6 who didn't do jack shit when he became a sword while the Finn we know experienced a lot of stuff.
>>
>>89522315
That's a possibility too. For me the only options are Finn and Huntress Wizard get together, or they both end up with no one.
>>
>>89522342
For me, I like to see something like this: The last scene of the finale showing Finn playing the flute while HW joins him. And then the scene cuts to black, leaving everything to the viewer's imagination, whether they be together or not.
