I remember it being OK but not as much fun as the ongoing where he just made it openly a fourth wall breaking comedy.

The fourth wall breaking may have been too cutesy but at the time it was new and cool to see a superhero character make fun of the conventions of superhero comics.

Honestly, one of my favorite runs. It never set the world on fire, but it was a comfy read and made the character a standard by which she is compared to today.

It was a lot of fun. In a modern "le quirky comickz" Marvel catering to tumblr-addicted teenage girls, it's not as revolutionary of a read, but it holds up well and is a charming Byrne romp. Solid 8.5/10

He has a huge body of work and it has some real stinkers and bland books. Uncanny X-Men, She-Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Superman are all great, but then you have hot garbage like Blood of the Demon a comic that is literally " Everybody got this character wrong and now I have to fix it"

I love her expressions here. Byrne did some fun things with She-Hulk. I know people like the OP are not impressed by the 4th wall breaking stuff because Deadpool's 4th wall stuff is a more relevant run to millennials, but I still like Byrne's Shulkie.

Expressions of characters is a major weakness among current comic artists. I see all these comic artists that millenials prefer for their digital techniques, but try and find some millenial digital artists that can do a variety of expressions like this page, it is not a lot.

I remember when this issue came out. Fan service is best when it is done in a fun way, like Byrne did with Shulkie.

There is no way Marvel would ever put something like this out today. That is sad.

Byrne owes me a sketch, and I tested the waters to see if he'd go for a nude, and he said he's all about a full frontal Shulkie, so that should be interesting when it finally happens!
