hussie mistake was to take on two projects at the same time.

Had he put the money on some bank account with safe and low interest rate to rest while he fully dedicated himself to the end of the comic, I think we would have got a much better ending.

Because he is an amazing straight man. With the exception of the "toxic masculinity" rant, it's very hard to find a log with John that isn't enjoyable, because the other characters can play off of him so well, and it's easy to always have an amusing remark for him to cut in with if there's too much exposition or melodrama going on.

you're reading the chart wrong dummy

Acts 1-4 define Homestuck and represent its best, albeit with a slow start you come to appreciate more on re-reads.

Act 5.1 is more enjoyable the first time you read through it, in contrast. Seeing how little of it ended up mattering in the long run renders so much of it extraneous, and it was always a detour that overstayed its welcome. Not much fun to slog through again at all.

5.2 is on par with 1-4, immensely satisfying to read.

6 is a different beast, a rocky roller coaster of highs and lows, with the lows steadily outnumbering the highs as you pass the midpoint of the act, and finally giving way to a point of no return that results in a bottomless vertical drop. The last 20% of the comic is some of the most poorly executed, thoughtlessly implemented horseshit out there. It has no heart, no sincerity, no reason, no respect to it. The act's only strong positive is introducing the best character Hussie created, and featuring him consistently throughout its otherwise decline.
