I would have had Mabel learn from her shitty behavior. Mabel season one was great. Then season 2 comes along, they set up how shitty she was being to Dipper, and it never gets addressed. Alright. Here's my idea for a quick scene that could resolve some problems the fandom has with Mabel.

It could happen during the scene in which Bill is about to kill Dipper or Mabel in front of Stan and Ford. When it's unsure who he's going to pick, Mabel nervously and reluctantly decides to sacrifice her life for Dipper's. This would partially be out of love for her brother and partially be out of guilt for having given away the rift that caused Weirdmageddon, believing it to be all her fault.

She doesn't mention why she decides to sacrifice herself, so Bill decides to force her to admit what she did to Stan, Dipper, and Ford. Mabel tearfully spills her guts about it, and Bill decides to milk this for all it's worth by forcing her to repeat it loud enough so that the entire town can hear it. He then gleefully tells her that after the barrier is broken, he'll happily tell the entire world that it's all her fault.

Bill is just about to kill her in some spectacularly gruesome way when Stan interrupts disguised as Ford, and things basically continue as normal. Later, Dipper and Mabel have a talk about why she tried to sacrifice herself, and make up, and all that stuff.

In fact, this is the main problem I have with the series. First episode showed the series was going to be about the Mistery twins solving mysteries. At the end we got the Dipper and his problems series.

Wendy was just dragging the plot for most of season one being Dipper's love interest. She appears in the title sequence and, at the end, not even one episode for her and they put her aside each time they could.

Mabel should behave more like a main character. Heck, I started to watch the series for Mabel, basicaly. I really liked that character. I still do. Then they didn't exploited her potential as they should. Also, too much episodes of her making Dipper chose between her and something that her brother wanted.

In Weirdmageddon, Mabel was again another of Dipper's problems instead of a main team member as it should be. One of the two main members, more precisely.

Oh, maybe this is random but add there Pacifica's redemption just to put her aside too. What is with female characters in that series now that I see...?

I think being not as into solving mysteries as Dipper is was a needed dynamic to mirror Stan and Ford. I mean you need to have some cause for a potential rift between the twins, otherwise there'd be no tension when Ford offered the apprenticeship (why would Ford only extend it to Dipper if both twins were active truth seekers? Why would Dipper join Ford if he already had someone who indulged his mystery itch?)

I think having the twins be different, but needed by each other would be best. We've seen how Dipper's knowledge and curiosity could benefit Mabel by saving her ass on multiple occasions, but when did Mabel's social outgoingness (a key trait of her character, in my opinion) help Dipper? Maybe she could smooth talk their way into an unwelcoming place (like the fake ids she made to get them into the biker bar in episode 2) or maybe she could have used her social capital to plead for Dipper if the town mistrusted him or needed to listen to him.

They should be complementary, and I feel that they only worked that into some aspects of the show, but then went with "extraversion = boy craaaaaazy" rather than with the fullness of what it can provide. This makes it seem like Dipper is doing all of the work and making all of the sacrifices, which I think wore on some people.

Addendum:

Bill could have been the antithesis of the twin's traits as well. Gregarious and understanding what people want like Mabel, well versed in arcane and mysterious knowledge like Dipper. He could have served as an excellent foil to the pair, showing them what their respective gifts of extroversion and introspection could gain them if they decided to do away with important pillars of their life like family and decency.

Extroversion has its flaws when done to excess, much like introspection, and they did a far better job showing the faults of the latter with Dipper rather than exploring the pitfalls of social awareness and needs with Mabel.

Here's part one of my idea. I posted it a week or two ago, but I thought I'd see if anybody who hasn't seen it was interested.

Basically, the idea would be one where Bill possesses Wendy to try to get Dipper to hand the rift over.
I was thinking that Dipper hands the rift over to Wendy, not knowing she's possessed. Bill-possessing-Wendy tries to smash it with an axe, causing Dipper to realize she's possessed and run off. Bendy chases him through the woods, taunting him using Wendy's voice. Eventually, Bill finds an old wood chipper, which he threatens to let Wendy fall into unless Dipper hands over the rift.
Wendy's spirit is nearby in the mindscape. When she hears that Bill getting the rift would end the world, she desperately tries to get Dipper not to hand it over, though he can't hear her.
Eventually, Wendy finds a way to communicate with Dipper and reluctantly tells him that her life isn't worth ending the world over. After some convincing, Dipper eventually tells Bill that he won't give the rift up no matter what. Bill is slightly surprised, but tells him he'll get his hands on the rift some other way before releasing Wendy and letting her fall into the woodchipper. Dipper runs home and manages to get the rift patched up, preventing Weirdmageddon for now. He's still heartbroken about what happened, so Wendy's ghost visits him that night. She'd be blue and translucent, and her ghost would have cuts and be mangled In places on account of being woodchipped. They have a talk.

And here's the other part

A few possible things they could talk about:
Dipper would be heartbroken that he couldn't save her, and Wendy could try to reassure him by saying that she was probably as good as dead the second she shook Bill's hand. She'd also tell him that while he couldn't save her, he did pretty much end up saving the world
She could say why she made a deal, or at least imply why.
Dipper would apologize for what happened, but Wendy would try to reassure him and say that if anything, she should be the one to apologize for putting him in a situation where he had to make such a difficult decision.
At one point she'd advise Dipper that he should probably steer clear of wood chippers, because "They really, really, REALLY hurt."
After that, Dipper wants to keep talking to Wendy, but it's late and he's having trouble keeping awake, so Wendy thinks of a compromise. After Dipper falls asleep, she enters his dreams and the two spend the rest of the night spending time together in Dipper's dream. When dipper wakes up just before dawn, he and Wendy say their final goodbyes before hugging just as Wendy passes on to the afterlife.

How's that sound?

Granted, the premise seems pretty spot on, though we've only seen bill turn people into statues without killing them, who knows how many townspeople got eaten alive or died offscreen. Worst I've seen him do canonicallu is literally rearrange Pacifica's dad's ear's, eye's and mouth.

I mean, if you look over the fridge horror of how Wendy apparently died, her visiting dipper is actually pretty bittersweet but heartwarming in the fact that she still tries to comfort Dipper. I'm glad you didn't elaborate too much on how she told him woodchippers "really hurt" because that would just be crossing the line for me. Kid's already broken up, no need to traumatize him further amirite?

that's actually pretty tearjerking right there. I lost someone near and dear and I still keep seeing them in my dreams over and over again days after their death so you can just tell how Dipper may just wake up with tears on his face every once in a while.

In summary, pretty good but also pretty dark. Might appeal more with less woodchipper and just go with a less brutal route for off-ing lumberjack lady. Something Dipper can still witness and be shocked over but not "too" traumatized.

Honestly I have only seen a few episodes out of order and weirdmageddon, but if I had to find a way to fix up her character I would have had dipper fall for starting weirdmageddon forcing Mabel to save dipper and come to terms with dippers position in all of this. I would have had bill use something to amplify dippers negative emotions and bring to the forefront his own selfish desires. This would make dipper less of a white night and Mabel more of a hero making the contrast between them smaller and thus the terms of their relationship more ambiguous.

Next I would make her lose. Nothing permanent, but I would old add a moment where her false bravado finally falls apart. I wouldn't make her lose to someone and instead to the situation itself. I would would let the side cast take the starring role for a bit to build up to her gaining apart resolve.

Other than that I would add a character arc in the previous seasons possibly about being bullying and hiding it or other extreme versions of social crippling into her back story to give her a reason to have the selfish personality and extreme attachment to her brother, so that she can work through handling her problems in a constructive way and connect with others on a less Artificial level.

Again haven't seen all of gravity falls and mostly out of order, but based on what I did see these Andre my recommendations
