Samurai formed as a class in late 1100s.
By the 1200s Vikings had abandoned their pagan religion and were crusading Christians fighting in Jerusalem.

The earliest this could be would be the 1400s. The vikings were long gone then making these a pure fictional nordic race as real as Amazons.

We are looking at Renaissance era Europe for this setting.

Marvel can do so much interesting shit with their mythological pantheon but not a lot of writers are creative enough to explore them.

Especially the Thor writers, I mean you got Thor's mom who represents the Earth Godess in every mythological pantheon meaning that Thor is related to half of the other Earth gods and goddesses (including Hercules) and you can do so many fun shit with that (exploring Thor's earth base power now that he's unworthy would also be pretty fucking cool too).

I think Jason Aaron is kind of expanding a bit especially with the God Killer and Shi'ar Gods but still...

This was so bad.
I thought it would be just a story of how a handfull of amazons are sent on a quest, LotR style, but it's just the same tired "kill the amazons in mass to show how high the danger is" shit they used to do pre-new52.
