The NEW 10 episode season of Samurai Jack begins March 11th at 11:30pm. Was revealed in one of this weeks AS bumps. We currently don't know if this is an extension or if the Super rerun is being removed.

GiTS SAC will replace OPM on February 4th. Just what we need, another rerun that has aired a million times.

Adult Swim is funding two new 6 episode seasons of FLCL. Expected release is late 2017/early 2018.

Lasts weeks ratings were mediocre, but consistent with the previous week. This weeks ratings were a disaster in comparison. The 11:30 Super barely scrapes a million, and Kai for the first time in years scores under a million. Everything after that is a steady downhill tumble as expected, ending with measly 400k numbers we usually don't even see with marathons. And once again, OP got BTFO by OPM.

11:30 Dragon Ball Super 1041 0.458 588
12:00a Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 925 0.429 550
12:30a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 760 0.341 437
1:00a Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 648 0.301 386

1:30a Hunter X Hunter 618 0.287 369
2:00a Naruto: Shippuden 520 0.244 313
2:30a One Piece 450 0.214 274
3:00a One Punch Man (r) 498 0.214 310

Yes, that sounds like a fantastic idea. Or better yet, they could move it to 3am, because you seem to think it'd be great if they air premieres at 3am.

Just post the ratings, we don't need your commentary.
>>
>>89389090

Holy shit, that is awful. Maybe people were too bummed out by the inauguration to bother to watch TV?

Well, it's cool that we're getting Jack soon-ish, but who knows, maybe we go back to 11pm.

Perhaps, but personally, I'm out by like 2am because everything worth watching with you guys is over with by then. Ideally, the prospect of 4(!) long-runners on the block makes for a shit deal, no matter how much of a fan you might be.

Excuses notwithstanding, when has DBZ ever -not- done a million+? One week is crazy, two weeks is worrisome, three weeks is a trend. We'll have a better idea in two weeks' time.

>>
>>89389932
Considering my initial post was directly addressing the part where the OP said "Just what we need, another rerun that has aired a million times" referencing GitS going into 3am, and how I was mocking him for thinking a premiere should air at 3am, then yes, I did read the blurb.

But I guess you can't put 2 and 2 together.

Stop that. It's 6, no amount of memes about different parts changes the fact that Jojo is a long runner too
>>

>>
>>89389940
No, there were no events on TV or holidays to blame this on. People are catching on that Super is dogshit

>>89389879
Well I'm glad you found something new to do with OPM leaving
>>
The Super 11:30 rerun is too valuable and acts a safety net for the 8PM. Also, they havn't been advertising the 8PM slot.
Jojo Season 1 ends in May.

I'm hoping for an 11PM extension. A lot of people would like not having to stay up later, and AS can just sacrifice one of their weakest slots that aren't Family Guy.
>>
>>89389974
I know I'll see it regardless. I'll just be pissed if my Toonami watching group sees 9 episodes together and then we all have to watch the finale at our respective homes and just text each other reactions or some shit.
>>
>>89390096
Is it really though? We have only had it for 3 weeks, none of which were very spectacular. It would probably greatly benefit Super by not having its viewership numbers split between 2 showings. And starting Toonami off with a rerun isn't doing it any favors. Obviously the 8pm showing was a contract agreement, so 11:30 would be the one to go. The only reason we have the 11:30 one in the first place is a penis extension for Toonami to say they are airing Super.
>>
>>89390144
Yea I get that, the first showing will be Dandy tier since no one on the planet has spoilers.

It's on Saturday, I'm sure you can put the books down for 30 minutes to finish it out
>>
>>89390196
Well they better start fucking advertising it, because there is literally nothing to tell you that the premier is at 8PM.

>>89389156
Jesus christ what a shit night. AS was clearly down as a whole (though Family Guy was fairly close to average).

What the fuck happened?
>>
>>89390424
They don't really advertise the 8PM showing of Super, to be fair. They play it as a grab for kids staying up past 8 on a Saturday (with Jack probably to grab interest as well for the new season), but they don't want to undermine the open of their block as a rerun, so they don't mention it.
>>
>>89390227
They have over a month to do that
>>
>>89390480
Maybe not but it pulled over a million the first 2 weeks with 0 advertisement. So being down to 700k shows people who knew it was there didn't tune in

Pokemon got moved from YTV which aired it since the very beginning to Teletoon. YTV used to be our primary anime station, their afterschool block was 100% anime for a time, then they slowly started getting less and less and now it has nothing. All Teletoon has is toyetic stuff like Pokemon and Beyblade, that's literally the only anime we get up here.

YTV used to have a really good block called Bionix, it mostly aired stuff that had already aired in America except with minimal censorship, like our Gundam SEED broadcast was pretty much uncut. All YTV is anymore is shitty tween sitcoms now.

>Does anyone know if they're using the JP blu-ray version and if there's any differences in the animation?

I'm not sure that they're using the blu-ray since I've seen files where people muxed the english audio from the TV broadcast into the jap blu-rays.
>>
>>89395401
I did appreciate it at a time, but this current schedule that will rarely change isn't much to get excited about anymore
>>
>>89395574
That's cool, I always wished someone would take the best Faulconer tracks and best Ocean tracks and use the Ocean voices up to Freeza then switch to Funi and mix it with the Dragon Box video

Ocean Vegeta is the best for when he's still villainous, I like their Goku too he has more depth to the character than Schemmel who mostly uses the same voice for everything.
>>
>>89395460
That may be, but we are only about 1 year, or 50 episodes or so behind the dub. So it's still newish in its own way

They're probably shitty too.

I may be biased because King of the Hill is the only FOX rerun on Adult Swim that I actually like (well other than Bob's Burgers, which is decent in its own right), but I think the Sunday "2001 Nostalgia Block" is a mistake. A lot of the stuff on there is fairly dated and obscure, and kind of lacks the nostalgia value that AS is banking on.

King of the Hill, however, acts as a good buffer between Cartoon Network and the rest of Adult Swim's comedy fare, as it's not overtly surreal unfunny stoner comedy, and since it's TV-PG, you probably won't upset any parents if their kids watch it.

Plus King of the Hill is easy to consume and good for casual entertainment. Of all the FOX reruns that bring in the normies, it's the least odious.

The idea that people are overtly nostalgic for something as obscure as the Brak Show or even Space Ghost: Coast to Coast is a little silly. Most of the nostalgia for early Adult Swim is about the anime.

Unfortunately, Adult Swim barely tolerates anime anymore and that aside, you'd still have to re-license the shows that could actually bring in nostalgia views.

I know casuals and normalfags that are nostalgic for Cowboy Bebop, but I've never met someone who was nostalgic for The Brak Show or Sealab 2021

Just sayin'
>>
>>89396527
This guy gets it

I get that the FOX reruns are a necessary evil, but do any of the post-2008 original comedies get any good views aside from Rick and Morty?

Also, what's with the unfunny live-action stoner shit still being around on the block? I get that it was big in the late 2000's, but hasn't the reception to it cooled over the past few years?

Or are the live-action shows too cheap to not make money no matter how bad they are, similar to Johnny Test or Mr. Pickles?

So, assuming Toonami is still around in 2018, what do you think they will do for the April Fools prank, which would fall on Toonami's night in 2018?

Back in the day, fans wanted something similar to the 2012 prank where they re-aired old anime using one-shot licenses but with Moltar hosting for the day. But with C. Martin Croker dead and Moltar officially given a send-off by TOM, that's not going to happen.

Maybe you could get an older version of TOM hosting with old one-shot airings or maybe do something really weird like bring back Miguzi for the night.

Also, I really wish Toonami could've gotten Sailor Moon Crystal back in 2015.

The only funny live action shows i can think of is Your pretty little face is going to hell and The Eric Andre Show
This might just be because Your pretty little face mixes office life with hell where everyone's incompetent to some extent and Eric Andre actually goes out of his way to make something funny, whether he's fucking with people irl or fucking with celebrities who don't know what his show actually is which is where the comedy lies in

Probably nothing. Let's see if they do anything on AS this year, or another le nothing prank.

>>
>>89395924
Ocean Piccolo was cool because he sounded more black than Funi. But Faulconer's theme is perfect for Piccolo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_2BSHbv3SY

>>89396788
It was my intro too, being a Canuckfag. Eventually YTV picked up Funi's dub from after Goku beats Recoome to the end of the Freeza saga before going into repeats again. I was lucky that my local convenience store actually had the Funi tapes of a lot of the Android saga so I got to watch those while everyone else was waiting on new episodes. I definitely prefer Funi post-Freeza. Ocean started sucking, changed some voices, and a lot of the music they used after was nowhere near as good as Faulconer's stuff.

I just really wish someone would make a version using the Dragon Box of Ocean mixed with Funimation, that would be awesome
>>
>>89396342

He's probably talking about the "Hellsing Ultimate" debacle.

>Funi releases the remaining two, but won't give them to Toonami, since they weren't a part of the deal

Not to mention 8 PM is the worst timeslot for that kind of block. It needs to be much later at night after the FOX shows.

This. Even TV-PG rated AS stuff like Home Movies is a little bit too risque and "out there" for that slot.

>The idea that people are overtly nostalgic for something as obscure as the Brak Show or even Space Ghost: Coast to Coast is a little silly. Most of the nostalgia for early Adult Swim is about the anime.

If something on the block has hype, it can and will outdo shows before it on the block. OPM does better than One Piece every week in the rerun slot. SAO did better numbers than earlier shows pretty consistently.

If people are hype for Jack and not Super, all we'll see is Jack get a better rating.
