Is stop-motion dead?
>>
No, creativity.

Nothing but sequels, remakes, shitty ideas based on children books or memes/emoji.
Even Disney gave up.
>>
>>89377235
It's not a popular medium. Usually filmmakers will choose between live action or computer animation.
>>
>>89377235
Nah.
>>
>>89377235
YES!

good animation in general is dead
>>
>>89377235
not until laika shuts down
>>
>>89377235
the aardmans still do it
>>
Funnily enough it's more alive than 2D theatrically
>>
>>89378207
as said, good animation is dead

Then go watch some instead of crying on an uzbek microbiology board, you insufferable twit.
Didn't see you in theaters when The Long Way North aired, or talk about Thunderbolt Fantasy.

>he thinks some virgin from /co/ can make a difference

So, any chance of it winning the oscar?

>>89378746
When he's watching a movie he's not shitposting here, that's a big difference as far as I'm concerned.

It's dead in the sense that nobody does it just because, as it's less cost effective than CGI unless you have a seriously dedicated team who knows its shit.

It's not dead in the sense that some people still do it just because they love it.
>>
>>89377361
>Nothing but sequels, remakes, shitty ideas based on children books
This sums up the entire history of cinema.

Well done.
>>
>>89377235
Nah
We got Laika, the dudes who did Wallace and Gromit, that Asian horror guy on YouTube, the guys who did shorts for ABCs of Death

Few and far between, but it still lives.
>>
>>89379607
I did and did my best to drag everyone to it.

Pretty Tumblr ears isn't a thing.
Are you just upset at multiple skin colors on faces?

Ya'll never heard of Laika?
>>
>2 oscar nominees
I guess not??
>>
>>89377235
Is My Life as a Zucchini worth a watch? It's the one animated oscar nominee that flew completely under my radar this year. I know nothing about it.
>>
>>89385766
no
It's Oscar bait. People will praise it for two weeks and forget about it right afterwards.
>>
>>89385766
It's great.
>>
>>89378006
So, you mean, not until Nike shuts down. Or until Travis Knight dies or gets bored, which will probably come first.
>>
>>89377235
No, robot chicken is still up.

>AnimaciĆ³n movie no made by Pixar or Disney
>Oscar bait
Only way the movie could have less chances of winning is if it was a horror film
>>
>>89377235
>Stop motion film nominated for the Oscars this year

No, it's still around. When Laika dies it'll probably die because Laika is the biggest name in stop motion to standard audiences, but it'll still be around in smaller productions.
>>
>>89387706
Oscar-bait doesn't mean it'll win, it means it's a "touching" story, but it's not a good movie; that the production values are very high and it's very meticulously put-together, but it's not a good movie. That the actors really do a workout, but it's not a good movie.

It means that on the surface it's a very high-quality movie with an impact, but that impact doesn't actually exist, and both critics and audiences will forget it about it soon after it's done. Like The Revenant. Wow look how much ACTING there is! And how hard the part is! And how touching is this guy's quest for revenge! And the movie is long and boring and nobody cares about it once award season is over.
