Anybody remember this from EGM? Norm started a patreon after pretty well dead air for over a year here's a striop he did for the patreon and a leak to the vid.

Let's talk about how Hsu and Chan sound nothing like we imagined them and how good the Slave Labor comic book was.
Oh and I guess here's a strip Norm did for January.

Huh, that's not something I expected to see today.
>This Still Exists Edition
You're not fucking kidding, holy shit.
I remember when Hsu and Chan were mocking Pokemon back in the fucking 90s, jesus christ

Man... they sound a bit too dull for their dialogue. Can't fault the debonair spin, but still...

I freaking loved Hsu and Chan back in the day. These new pages make it clear the comic is a bit words words words, but still pretty cool to see it back. Wonder if enough people to remember to make a Patreon successful.
Still fun though.
For the uninitiated Hsu & Chan was a gaming comic strip by Norm Scott featured in Electronic Gaming Monthly from 1999 until the magazine's original dissolution. The strip features a pair of brothers, slacker video game developers always eager to make a quick buck with a cheap rip-off.
There was also a Seven issue comic book series by slave labor graphics that was QUITE good, five of the 7 are collected in a TPB. Despite the conceit of the series being that the are game developers, the SLG book was largely devoid of "GAME HUMOR" and had the duo (and supporting cast) getting into more general adventures. Wordiness is a hallmark of Norm's comedic style.
Here's a very valuable link to every EGM strip, Norm doesn't even host them on his site anymore. And I'll story time the first one too.

They were always really hit or miss for me. Sometimes they were great but other times it just took too long for the joke to get anywhere.

Looks like shit.
I remember when they were actually drawn with physical materials.
Digital makes them look lifeless.

I freaking love Norm's work. I miss Hsu and Chan and the Otters like hell. I hope he gets enough to make more content.
I haven't read Asian video game Milk & Cheese in forever.
