That post has many good points but is also trying to downplay how much Aaron screwed up with the last chapter. And so are you.

We survived a hiatus just fine before. It's just that this time, beyond the lack of content, there's the animosity generated from the boat chapter which distanced the fans from Aaron's work and each other. Let's face it, discussion won't recover unless Aaron and the comic can recover from that fiasco. This chapter will make it or brake it, let's just hope Aaron will surprise everyone in a good way this time.

There's no denying that Aaron fucked up the ending, but it wasn't that bad. What got me was the amount of shitposting. It has less to do with the recent elections and more how politics work in the US. It's very overt and if Aaron wants to make a great comic he'll cut it out with the political commentary. It's trendy and tacky. I would have assumed that Aaron, being an outsider to the internet comic scene, would not succumb to such fads. From the politics, to the referential humour, to the waifubaiting (which I admit I like that last one) Aaron is losing what makes Endtown special in this medium. This is just like when KISS sold out and made pseudo-disco rock and roll

We're just getting back to Endtown to see the results of the election that was being held right before we left, Aaron tries to show how it has impacted the place while we were gone, and people are getting pissy over it.
Fuck man, Walt is just expressing his distaste for how everyone is clinging to old governmental methods when their living situation has changed drastically from before.
It's just more of Endtowners being so safe down there that they're managing to forget that they used to be humans living on the surface and not at risk of being discovered and blasted off the face of the planet.
I'm afraid to see what would happen if they were forced to actually confront that reality more often though, Maude broke down the last time she had to recognize her bovinity for more than long enough to dump out her excess milk.
