Yeah I don't like nazis or /pol/acks either, but when people get passionately angry towards an evil enemy, I always get anxiety about if I were that enemy (i.e. nazis, serial killers, perverts, etc). I monitor my every thought obsessively to make sure im not empathizing with the enemy or justifying them. Ever since I was a kid I had this crazy fear of being the bad guy who deserves what's coming. Because you're still voting to decide how your state will vote. Yes, technically your elector can go against the vote of the people but it's rare.

As for why we let it exist, defenders say it gives rural states more of a say, instead of making it so that the President will always serve the interests of high population centers (cities, generally liberals).

In truth, a shocking amount of Americans either don't know what the electoral college is or how it works, so they aren't going to fight about it.
