Thoughts on this?
I was not quite found of all the space thing and pops arch, but man I loved that end montage and everything about how the characters resolutions.

how the fuck did hi 5 ghost have a kid?

Is Skips any older, or is he still immortal?

Those molecoon girls are p. hot.
>>
Oh, shit: Is Pops dead???

GH-OST CREAMPIE!
>>
>we don't see jack shit about margaret or cj in the ending montage because they doesn't matter since Mordecai didn't fuck either of them

But I mean other than that it was alright
>>
>>89320101
CJ's a Thomas-tier character; not that it wouldn't be nice to know what becomes of her but I can see why they didn't bother since her part in the story is already resolved.
>>
So no one noticed this?
>>
>>89319522
Here's the answer: Yes!!!
>>
>>89318181
The ending was a lot better then I expected it would be. I wouldn't have been surprised or mad if it had just ended with Anti Pop's getting killed or reformed and everyone just went back to earth and lived happily ever after.
>>
>>89319397
His real name is High 5 Dicks.
>>
>>89320396
what happened to thomas tho?
>>
>>89321591
What am I supposed to see
>>
>>89318181
It's up there for best cartoon endings that I've seen. Too many of them just drop into nothing, but they made the most of the last season and positioned themselves well into a nicely paced ending. Lord knows Adventure Time is probably going to be a disaster.

The ending for RS, though... man, it's so weird to be reminded of the fact that 20, 30 years can pass by and you're so far removed from what you thought was the obvious direction you were heading. As an oldfag it gave me the warm and fuzzy's.
>>
>>89318181
>mordecai became cancer
>married "totally not marceline"
>>
>>89318181
>every character's parents were same-race marriages
>everyone but muscleman became race traitors
So now we have another example of the jew overlords pushing the destruction of the white race through media.
>>
>>89321591
IKR? Their eldest child whom Starla introduced once The Park first returned to Earth looks about the same age here. So, Muscle Man started going bald within a year of that!
>>
Ending was pretty good especially when the VCR pops at the end and you hear Pops, almost cried there and when Rigby and Mordecai said WOAAAH and said " I can believe we used to say that" it really shows that they grew up. I guess my only problem is that Margaret wasnt shown afterwards, I mean I know they were gone for 3 years and that is alot of time to move on but when Mordecai was painting you see a a painting of red birds so its kind of like he's still hung up on Margaret, idk kinda wanted them to be end game after what Mordecai went through to be with her plus Mordecais kids look spoiled as shit
>>
>>89329314
When Rigby said "I cant belive it has been 25 years" It hit me so hard man, almost cried
>>
>>89329865
True True. I guess it hits me even harder since when I watch Regular show I was like in Elementary and now Im almost graduating college so I can relate to the change in time. Kinda sad that its kind of implied Mordecai and Rigby didnt play videogames anymore
>>
>>89330640
I dont think they see each other a lot, live in different cities and have different things going on in life, most time that they spend togheter must be in those kinds of gatherings
Passage of time is fascinating
>>
>>89330674
Yeah, having your own family demands 90% of your free time. Is it me but does Mordecai looks super sad during the montage

That's why the ending doesn't really work.

There was no thematic focus on the topic of growing up in the final season, and before. Only occasionally that Mordecai would have wanted to do something else with his life, while Rigby would have been cool.

And after showing how much they rely on each other, just suddenly going their separate ways to show they grow up felt forced.
>>
>>89331038
>There was no thematic focus on the topic of growing up in the final season, and before
That was literally the whole point of Rigby graduating high school.

And despite how shitty it was handled, Mordecai sowing his wild oats with all of his stupid relationships and getting glimmers of insight towards his wasted life at the park lays the groundwork for him finally finding inner peace through art (which he rarely tapped into despite it being enough of a passion for him to go to college for it) and maturing enough to take on a relationship that could actually work.
>>
>>89318181

The show ended almost exactly how I thought it. The only differences I had was that Mordecai would be with Margaret and that Rigby would be the new park manager
>>
>>89331091
The point was to have Rigby get a season to himself. Not him growing up. Because he wasn't different after and cheated his way past the language requirement in the most retarded way.

>and maturing enough to take on a relationship that could actually work.
What relationship? "They like art, so they are together", is not a relationship. It's a cop out.
>>
>>89331133
But giving a whole season a whole season for Rigby showes his development arch
>>
>>89331025
except when it goes down for maintenance randomly and its the equivalent of your phone screen fading and you see your reflection
>>
>>89318181
Loved it. I wasn't sold about going to space for an entire season, but it wasn't bad at all, and the finale itself was great. Going meta, all those callbacks, Pop's sacrifice, the god damn Bowie montage...a great sendoff for a jolly good show.
I just wish we'd seen Thomas for the finale, he could have totally gone to space, and seeing Margaret and CJ would have been cool too, though I can understand why they weren't there.
>>89330947
Only the best ending for my favorite character.
>>89331133
Rigby graduating high school is pretty big for him, it's the only lasting accomplishment he got throughout the whole show (if you don't count going out with Eileen). He wasn't different after that because it's a fucking high school diploma, so not really an important thing overall, except for him.
But yeah, they don't actually grow up during the show, they just go on with their job at the park, and it's supposed to be temporary, so at some point they have to move out, and that's where they truly start growing up. That's what the montage showed, they become full-fledged adults and live their lives instead of still having the same job.
>>
>>89331133
Also I really like how Mordecai setyled for someone with commun interests and not "the love of his life" a much mature way to handle a relationship
>>
>>89331165
>>89331133

Rigby will only grow to a point. He was pretty set in his ways. He was still playing video games when he had kids. His getting together with Eileen is pretty much the peak of his maturity
>>
>>89331133
You're just picking faults and measuring this against a constantly changing standard to justify your view. You know that graduating high school was a big point of shifting Rigby's character to a more responsible person. He also got incredibly close to Eileen in the process, something that he had been childish and/or oblivious over in previous seasons.

With Mordecai the art is an obvious way of showing that he is getting rid of his slacker nature and focusing on what actually drives him. And wow, big surprise, him meeting somebody that also appreciates the things that he is passionate over leads him into a functioning relationship.
>>
>>89331197
>Cant grow to be mature and a good man for his family and still enjoy things that you enjoyed your whole life
Ok

The only show to do 80s right. I'm going to miss it more than any other show.
>>
To be honest if they did one of those kinda shitty "AND THE ADVENTURES WILL CONTINUE FOREVER" endings like when they get back and settled in, they're supposed to be working but then they start goofing off and chasing each other around the park with a water hose, with a slow pan out to show the whole park, it would've been just as sad to me because their goofing off is adorable and I'm already missing it.
>>
>>89331165
What arc? He couldn't even hold his graduation speech without Mordecai. So much for being independent.

>>89331185
>they became adults
>they look older now and have kids
>Tada, instant adult!

>>89331191
He was shown getting along more with CJ and Margaret than with random bat woman.

>>89331197
You mean, just going with the first girl who made it clear she likes him no matter what?

>>89331205
>You know that graduating high school was a big point of shifting Rigby's character to a more responsible person.

Which he didn't became.

>He also got incredibly close to Eileen in the process
He wasn't just before that?

>what actually drives him
Which was something of "We established this so use it." The show should have displayed this more. They even joked with the "I went to art school" bit in season 8, as if to be callous about people who wanted that to be a thing.

>a functioning relationship
Not shown, only assumed. Just with what he sees in her or vice versa. You can't show how well he gets along with two characters despite not being into the same stuff he is and then not do that with his supposed definite ending who does like art.

>You're just picking faults and measuring this against a constantly changing standard to justify your view.

I'm pointing out flaws in shitty writing. You are free to point how how I am supposedly moving goalposts.
>>
>>89331133
>Mordecai meets a girl who shares his interests
Is infinitely better than
>Mordecai meets a girl who he thinks is pretty
It would've been disappointing if Mordecai ended up with either of his ex's, because he didn't really have anything in common with them. It's good that at least SOMEONE didn't end up with the girl they met as a teen/young adult, it'd be unrealistic. Granted that randomly meeting and marrying literally who at the last moment was rushed, but I can see why they did it; the optimal thing would be for Mordecai to live without a girlfriend, but that would've been pretty sad, especially given that he's obviously lonely as fuck and spent most of the series trying to get a girl; to have him fail at the one thing he tried to do would be sad as a send-off.

I still want a lewd where Benson's helping her button her bra in her human form though.
>>
>>89331310
>Conveniently ignoring how well he got along with both Margaret and CJ.
>>
>>89331327
Getting along with someone isn't the same as being ready to marry them.
>>
>>89331342
Well, good thing there was an entire episode that basically said "You'd be very happy together." Despite not sharing the same interests. So there must have been something.
>>
>>89331307
Jesus, you must be a hit at parties.
>>
Last thread felt more like people agreed the ending was full of holes, and now there are people who said it wasn't.

It's weird. I didn't like the ending, but I don't think you should argue so much about a show that was never good at having their silly throwaway adventures next to attempted realistic adult relationships with no real long term planning.
>>
>>89331307
Y'know I used to be like you and try and point out the nitty gritty of this show's writing even though I knew it was more focused in the episodic comedy rather than any long running arcs.

I'm glad I grew out of it. You should grow out if it too, especially since its a done deal now.
>>
>>89330947
>Eileen
>best anything
>>
>>89319397
He had 2
>>
>>89331391
You're right, it's Eileen who actually got the best endgame.
>>
I'm still beside myself on how to feel about Eileen being a fucking housewife, maybe she's really happy that way... but I can't help but feel Rigby is dragging the poor girl down like he did to betacai all those years.
>>
>>89331386
Believe me, this is the only thing I am with like this. It was nice having cartoon characters which they at least attempted to make believable young adults without the usual Adult Swim naughtiness. And ultimately disappointing they were so careless with that aspect.

There is no other show left I felt so strongly about in that. Not Adventure Time, Not Steven Universe, and I will not repeat this mistake.
>>
>>89331385
I just really lije the end they gave to the characters, it was simple, mature and made sense to me
I cant imagine a more sound way actually
>>
>>89331429
At that point its not Rigby the fictional character holding her down though and more the RS writing/story boarding staff who didnt bother to show what she did with her life beyond being lovey-donkey with Rigby in that montage.
>>
>>89331445
I don't know about the mature and sensical part. An ending like this would have benefited from an episode of its own.

>>89331451
Which is sad in its own way. Reducing a character that is supposed to be great at a lot of things to being the doting wife to Rigby, simply because they didn't bother to show that.
>>
>>89331451
I dont see much need to, the show never focused on her life beyond her interaction with rigby
>>
>>89331451
They showed everyone else except Muscle Man and Starla who are obviously trailer trash, they showed Skips still working at the park and being an auto mechanic, Mordecai a painter, Fives a DJ, and Benson still manages the park and possibly owns it after Pops' dad dying.

It was obvious they kept them both at home to show she's the housewife feeling the effects of trying to give a piece of shit like Rigby the time of day, and don't worry I do still blame the writers and especially JG for giving a character who tried to make a main character better himself such a shit ending but she's still so nice she sticks with him anyway
>>
>>89331442
I mean I don't NOT feel for you, that's the sentiment I held back when Season 4 was starting to nosedive in the second half. I'm just saying once you step back its very clear the situational comedy was the highlight of interest for writing and it was like that from the start. We kinda just set ourselves up for disappointment, y'know.

All I'd advise is to either learn to pick your new interests better or hell, make something you want to see yourself.
>>
>>89331491
>It was obvious they kept them both at home to show she's the housewife feeling the effects of trying to give a piece of shit like Rigby the time of day,

Nice projecting.

>and don't worry I do still blame the writers and especially JG for giving a character who tried to make a main character better himself such a shit ending but she's still so nice she sticks with him anyway.

Eileen was literally always the wannabe dicksleeve to Rigby. That was her defining characteristic from her introduction, so if you're this pissed that she ended up with the guy by the end after countless episodes of her getting wet over him then the only thing I can say is "okay lol."
>>
>>89331497
Season 4? That's a bit early, although I can understand it, getting with Margaret was a rush job reserved for the end of the season and then her leaving was a weird way of a gut punch. At that point already people complained she should have had more character development. Which she got. 3 seasons later.

>make something you want to see yourself.
You remember that Rescue Ranger comic? I was thinking of making something like that removing the cringeyness. Might be a futile uphill battle by action alone.
>>
Part 2's commercial break cliffhanger is still one of the best.
