The problem isn't the animation, but the story itself and how it developed.
If the movie took a more emotional and character driven tone, instead of focusing on action and overall silliness, it would be much better.
Also, Ginormica should have been barefoot for the whole movie

By the finale she looked much better than how she did in the rest of the series. Still not sure if I like it more than her design in the pilot but she doesn't look all weird and lumpy anymore.

I dunno. LoK's problems go down to the basic concept, which consisted of "Let's follow an Avatar who's the opposite of Aang, but put her in a story that's necessarily in the same genre that Aang's was."

Aang didn't like fighting, but was in a fighting show, and so there was meaty conflict to be derived from that.
Korra LOVED fighting, and was in what was, in the end, a fighting show, so a lot of the conflict felt a lot less natural (Korra being terrible at fighting, or all these politically-powerful, untouchable antagonists going completely bonkers and needing to be put down by force, for example) because without it, she would naturally fit in too well.

To do the concept of Korra justice, they'd need to have committed to "Korra can't solve her problems with fighting" and make it largely a political-intrigue sort of show. Except no kid would want to watch a cartoon where a bunch of people with superpowers sit down without using them and argue over nuances. So I think LoK's problems ran deeper than its execution.

2d: Life in the eyes, sense of movement and adventure, castle/walled town helps show the visuals of the world a little better to place it as something unique, seems to show bad guys and a team pet, possibly? Fat Kid Friar Tuck(?) actually in motion doing something. Can imagine a jaunty little medieval soundtrack playing, possibly involving lutes in markets where such music is not outlawed.

3d: Lifeless eyes and poses, like they're mannequins. A generic forest. gormless expressions meant to convey 'fun' but look more like 'constipated', 'dull surprise' or 'existential horror'. I'm getting sick of this "simple design; easy to animate" excuse. When animators in the 80's can work with overly-detailed designs and animators nowaways deal with Flash puppets that have even more crap in them, saying THAT is hard to animate is just a shitty excuse.
