Post waifus with depression

actual depression or just meme depression
>>89274522
Either is fine?
Kiazuki
>>89274599
the difference is one is not attractive or "quirky" while the other is treated like some kind of accessory or attention seeking method by normies.
Just because you are sad or got dumped does not make you depressed. Everyone goes through that shit.
>>89274802
Not attractive to you.
>>89274815
Lapis is a classic example of meme depression.
She has no personality outside just being a female character who's always in a bad mood despite not having a good reason to be.

No she definitely has a very good reason.
>>89274831
>despite not having a good reason to be
>Become a casualty of a war you wanted no part of
>Taken as a PoW because your identity was mistaken
>Remain imprisoned for thousands of years
>Finally return home to realize your civilization has moved on without you and is nothing like you remember
You're right, she's just whiny.
>>89274862
Her cracked gem was healed
She is no longer trapped within the mirror
She has the freedom to go any where she wants including back to homeworld but chose to stay on earth.
Is there a part of her suffering I am missing here
>>89274980
Bitterness=! Depression
>>89274984
Being trapped in a mirror as a tool that can only mirror to communicate for thousands of years is pretty traumatizing, dude. It would have been better if she was poofed and bubbled.
>>89275000
I could easily see being depressed about the social ennui of being completely displaced from the Homeworld she remembers.
>>89274984
This comes across similar to if you were to go to someone recovering from having been raped and say "Well, you're not being raped right now."
>>89274831
She's not in a bad mood most of the time. If you look at how she acts she's usually presenting herself as happy or actually happy but still has a lot of pain under the surface. You can see it in her eyes.
>>89274984
For someone who claims to know what "real" depression is, you sure don't know a lot about depression.
>>89274506
Does morbid pessimism count as depression?
>>89274838
>>89275145
I never got the impression she was depressed but if you can't think of anyone else I'll take it.
>>89275089
Rape is an action, while depression is a state of mind that affects almost every aspect of your life. Rape can lead to depression, but it can't be an emotion.
If rape happens, its over(until it happens again lolrofltllmfao). It doesn't just keep going without stopping. You don't hear someone say " Oh I don't feel like doing anything today because Im feeling rape"
>>89275166
That's clearly not what they were saying.
>>89275106
Then tell me what "real" depression is little guy.
It took me 4 years to escape it so its kind of annoying to see normies treat it like a some kind of novelty.
>>89274506
>>89275166
Yeah, rape is an action, so is having your gem cracked or being imprisoned. The bullshit part of >>89274984 that is being contested is the implication that "the action doesn't justify your state of mind because the action is over." Just saying "She's got no reason to be grumpy because she isn't trapped in a mirror anymore", as if the fact that it is no longer happening is just as good as if it never happened at all.
>>89275255
Its doesn't justify it if she was given ample amounts of closure. She even got a chance to beat the shit out of the CG's for a little while and let out some pent up anger. What more could she want.
>>89275292
>What more could she want
Maybe to have not been trapped in a mirror in some basement for 2 thousand years and for all of her friends and her society to have not abandoned her.
>>89274506
I always post with depression.
>>89275322
Well that happened, but the thing is, its overisnt it....?and she was given closure.
Any residual feelings about the events are just her being bitter, not depressed
>>89275356
If a rapist was executed or the victim killed the rapist it doesn't mean they automatically feel better. What the fuck, dude.
>>89275356
For someone who claims to know about depression, you're falling prey to the arguments against it that non-depressed people make
>there's no reason to be depressed (/right now)
>have you tried no feeling depressed?
>do X and your depression will get better
>it's all in the mind
>>89275498
How do you identify fictional characters with depression?
>>89276091
That's not the point. The point is you're acting like if problems are resolved then depression should just go away which is definitely not the case.
>>89276180
Star is literally the opposite of depressed
>>89276188
Not after Bon Bon, sir.
>>89274657
She's not depressed she's just bitter
>>89274831
Neat bait.
>>89276188
>>89276180
she is manic
>>89275145
GIVE US PORN ANON
>>89276180
She reminds me "Baby". You know that story on the /b/ right?
>>89274506
She's not depressed. She's just a poorly written character.
>>89278668
We don't know enough about her to really call that yet. Sucrose has mentioned part of her character is going to be a theme of "deception", and Jasper hinted at some darkness in her past.
>>89275145
Nah, just as being a faggot
>>89278668
This, her character shifts so much between angry-depressed and calm-happy it's stupid
>>89277701
That was a fun read desu, not a very satisfactory ending tho
>>89277701
i want and dont want someone like Baby in my life
>>89279976
There's a pretty clear reason for it. She's "calm-happy" with Steven, and then later with Peridot after Steven gets her to accept hanging out with her.
It's not "poor writing" for a character to respond differently to having to interact with different people.
>>89280328
she is the opposide of depression. she is retardness
>>89275356
Man what is wrong with you, like actually? Are you autistic or something? Do you have sociopathic tendencies?
>Dude, you were abused ages ago, get over it. You have no reason to be depressed now.
>>89274831
>always in a bad mood despite not having a good reason to be.
This is how depression works though.
Depression is generally having low spirits or a sense of dread regarding life/the future. Sometimes there is no real, present reason for this depression. Sometimes it's because experiences have thoroughly coloured a person's mindset and changing this is hard even after circumstances have become better. Sometimes it's just chemical.
Having bad things occurring in your life right now is not a prerequisite for depression. In fact, depression is depression rather than just feeling bad about things when it refuses to budge despite improving conditions.
Sigh...
>>89281048
Expanding slightly because maybe you need an example to understand:
A person who feels low because their mom just died does not have depression.
A person who cannot move on with their life a year after their mom died, because they just can't force themselves to feel better about life/themselves/whatever has depression.

Pearl is actually the best depiction of depression in SU. Anxiety disorder, too.
