I'm not sure it's necessarily a memory. It could be another abstract idea like an insecurity. But yeah it is fucked up if it was a piece of Bubbles that was just blasted to oblivion. Jeph never cared about his work. Questionable Content started as a series of dumb doodled jokes he'd draw and upload to the internet every night before bed after coming home from his job. He did this at a time when webcomicking was young, and his material was just interesting enough and just not awful looking enough that he began to amass a readership. The one very beneficial thing he did to hold onto his audience was provide them with consistent updates every day- a consistency that most artists that actually care about the quality of their work can't provide. The comic became important to him when he started to care about what his fans thought of it, but I'm not sure he ever really cared about the work itself. He never thought to himself "I'm gonna start a webcomic and become the greatest artist ever."
