"The sound of her wings" is also about the inevitability of death, though without the getting old part

old man logan, dark knight returns, spiderman reign. earth x definitely, it includes the perspective of multiple older heroes and it's a damn good book, better that kingdom come, and a better deconstruction that watchmen ( which is just muh edgy what if heroes were assholes ) imo

You know, I honestly don't read many comics. But I have read watchmen, and I'd just like to say that (even putting aside the fact that its a "deconstruction",) if all you got out of it was "Muh edgy what if heroes were assholes" then you really have no business discussing any form of art.

i'm not saying it's good, but if you had to summarise watchmen in a phrase that's correct. sure it's a bit more complex but that's the main theme.

earth x on the other hand delves more into abstract mystical meta shit and it's heavy in high quality marvel lore

I hope this movie is good. It has the potential to be more than just a mindless action flick.

There's just no way for it to live up to the hype. We've dug our own grave with this movie.

moore's post modern deconstruction is part of the reason no one can write good stories these days. its not about having fun or writing good stories, its about having you take it serious, or having you in on the joke.

Earth X is exposition heavy continuity porn. Its trash. People only like it because "muh epic continuity." Its so fucking stilted and boring that it literally took me years to read it.

>what am i seeing now watcher?
>let me explain it to you in a long poorly written paragraph

Thats it. That's the whole story, just the watcher explaining whats happening over and over.

Its not Moore's fault. I mean, yes, I suppose technically it is his fault for writing a great story that sold like hotcakes that talentless hacks would try to copy for decades. But its not his fault that talentless hacks took a great story, completely missed the point, and decided to poorly imitate it and deform the entire comics industry as a result.

>whole story, just the watcher explaining whats happening over and over.
That sounds awful. Most comic writers crumple under the pressure of having to write a chunk of text that doesn't sound like complete ass. They tend to be overly expositional and most of all clunky. Grant Morrison tried that shit in his Batman run and it's by far my most hated issue.
