Anon, I'm sorry, but that costume has always been terrible. It comes straight from the school of generic garish superhero designs, especially the godawful cowl. The only reason people have any attachment to it is nostalgia.

Im not going to lie, the cowl needs work. Maybe they should do what they did with DC Rebirth Heat Wave and give him goggles that form an H (which honestly looks like dogshit on him but may fair better on Clint with some work). Anything is better than the shades

Yes anon, coming to terms with the fact that not every classic superhero costume holds up makes me a casual. Brilliant retort.

My point concerning nostalgia is not to attack others and their reading habits (God knows I read way more silver and bronze age shit than anything else) , but to highlight that it's one of those costumes people only seem like because they're used to it. Because it's classic. Because it's traditional.

But I've never heard a good defense for it on an aesthetic front. There's no theme or motif aside from the suggested H on the chest and the stupid H on the forehead. The only defense people can ever come with up is "but he was a circus performer" and "you're saying a purple tee is better?" As evidenced by this very thread. This is not my first rodeo.

I think the problem with Hawkeye's costume is the H on his forhead.
