I think the fact that Superdad doesn't remember alternate versions of himself that he should have met before and the fact that Prophecy doesn't recognize him as a Superman are both intentional and will be relevant to future Superman arcs and probably Rebirth itself too.

Or maybe I'm just hoping that's the case.

Look behind the question marks, you can see them.

Going from the top, clockwise:
Earth-14 is opposite Bizarro World.
Earth-49 is opposite Vampire World.
Earth-28 is opposite Howard Chaykin World.
Earth-25 is opposite Pirate World.
Earth-24 is opposite Commie World.
Earth-27 is opposite Fusion World.
Earth-46 is opposite Female World.

>>
>>89224817
That's not Etrigan, that's Super-Demon. It's the same as how Shazam (of main dc earth) is not Captain Marvel (of earth 5 I want to say)

Before you ask, yes, I know this is convoluted.
>>
>>89224817
Earth-13 Superdemon is like a fusion of regular Etrigan, Superman, and Shazam.

He's an alien demon from the planet Kamelot who was banished into the body of the son of a Kansas preacher. Now that preacher's son can turn into Etrigan whenever he needs to save the day.
>>

>post-Flashpoint Etrigan in Demon Knights

It's the entire concept of multiple earths. It's a pretty basic concept of how the DC Comic universe is fashioned. Each Earth has their own versions of everything, which might not be identical analogues.

Think of the concept of parallel universes. It's a pretty basic concept in fantasy and science fiction.

Morrison's New 52 was garbage that no one would care about if it were written by a less popular writer.

Johns' Action Comics might be the best main universe Superman run ever, so that one you're correct about.

Kelly's Action Comics? Pretty much agreed, though it wasn't some kind of masterpiece either.

>Morrison had an idea for a sequel to ASS, about Superman and Batman's sons on a world where there was no crime

Is this from an interview he did? I know All Star Superman used some of the ideas in the Superman 2000 pitch that he and Waid put forth to DC, presumably Grant's portions, obviously much more fleshed out than just a spit-ball pitch to the editorial team.
>>
>>89226468
>Is this from an interview he did?

Yes.
>>
>>89225943

It's kind of a shame they drew that particular part of the issue that way because someone, somewhere is going to make it a Nazi racists thing, without having read one word of Mastermen. It would have been better if the fight was related to Overman's lost of Kara on his Earth (and clearly stated as such, but I don't think Justice Incarnate had a Kara analogue? or a Superwoman analogue?), or that they used someone other than Calvin Ellis for him to fight.

Not that I don't believe you - and by the way, good job on those backgrounds for Multiversity in the other thread - I just was curious if you remember from what? I'd like to find the entire interview myself to see what he says. I wished he'd talked more when they did the commentary track on All Star Superman's blu ray, not that what he didn't say wasn't interesting, but I'd like to hear him to do more than puff up Timms and the DCAU when they didn't really do such a great adaptation of the series, IMHO.
>>

I actually thought of Power Boy, the one who dated the immediate to FP Supergirl.

I'm not sure why they didn't give us Majestic (or Apollo/Midnighter in Multiversity, but I gotta assume its one of the Unnamed Universe, especially since we're going to get a Wildstorm universe line later on this year from Ellis.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed. I'd have prefer he'd flesh out one of the other Earths if that was the best he could come up with and then come up with something better for some point in the future. It's obvious DC is willing to let him play with Morrison's toys, so it just could have been more interesting.

This is just ... disposable. He might as well have used the Marvel Analogue Earth in that case.

>>89226943

Gotcha. Well, presumably his Action run arose from this, since he originally didn't agree to do three arcs/19 issues, it just turned out that way.

It's at an artists for the thumbnails and sketches - that came out in one of the Heavy Metal interviews he did. It probably will page out the same as the Rebirth one shot that kicked stuff out and retail at $4.99 since it's a Morrison one-shot.

I think this is the interview I was remembering:

http://www.cbr.com/all-star-interview-grant-morrison/

>Superman is a great character, and Superman, honestly, I could write for that character eternally. So, yeah, given the chance I’d love to do those stories one day. There’s a whole bunch of them. I keep coming up with new ones, that’s the problem. A new Superman story just comes up. Part of one of the things I wanted to do with the whole Son of Superman thing was to take that whole thing with the old Super Sons stories and update that, make it modern and have the son of Superman and Batman. The first page would be Superman and Batman shaking hands and saying, “Congratulations old friend. We’ve stopped all crime.” One day, I might get to them or some version of it. There’s a little bit of that in the “Multiversity” series that I’m doing. Some of these stories always come back in some form. But yeah, I’m getting close, within a couple years, of wrapping up Batman. So, the notion of doing some more Superman stuff is becoming quite interesting again.
>>
>>89227611
Yeah that makes sense but there is an elseworld where Darkseid is Milfseid ( same universe as Aquawoman). So does Darkseid make his avatar as a chick on purpose? Thats Kinda hot Plus Darkseid PostFP is entirely different from PreFP and if they're all the same being and merely just being projected through an Avatar wouldn't they have the same thoughts all through out so they should have know about Superman, JL, etc because it already happend.

>>89228351
But how about the beings existing in it like demons, angels and Greek/norse/etc gods? I know beings such as The presence, Lucifer, Angel Michael are only one in the Multiverse. Multiverse shit makes my brain hurt.

It sort of does, if you interpret the "order" versus "chaos" duality of the map to mean "consistent rules and predetermined outcomes" versus "randomness".

In other words, Earths closer to the top of the map are worlds where it's better to be organized and plan out your moves (Assassin World, Superhero World, City World, etc.), whereas Earths closer to the bottom of the map are settings where it's better to improvise and fly by the seat of your pants (Bizarro World, Wild West World, Magic World, etc.)

>A superman story just comes up+

I envy Grant's mind

>>89231710
They are only one, but "shards" or emanations of those singular beings are projected into each individual universe. For example, in earth 22 darkseid is dead and Orion rules apokolips, on earth 17 Darkseid is a UFO, on earths 0 and 2 he's a multiversal conqueror with a Jim Lee redesign. However, the true Darkseid is an idea that exists beyond any of those planes.
>>
>>89223994
Is everyone else ignoring the fact there's a Nazi superman here?
>>
>>89232966
Brah. We've known about him for monthes. Read multiversity. It's a hard read but explains a lot of what is happening.
>>
>>89231710
>>89232721

In Grant's Action Comics run, he used a good metaphor to describe his conceptualization of how gods can be both one and many at the same time.

Imagine resting your fingertips on a piece of paper. From your perspective, you know you have two hands with five fingers each. But a flat person living on the surface of the paper, would only be able to see your fingertips, the points where your body is making contact with the paper. From the perspective of that person, it would look like there was ten of you.

That's how it is with gods and the multiverse. Darkseid reaches out and touches many points at once. Some of his "fingertips" may appear or behave differently from each other, just as every finger has a unique print, but they are all connected to the same great, unknowable hand.

Yeah. You must only know who is Superman and that there is a multiverse with more Supermen.

Superdad comes from Bleediac's just-before-Flashpoint bubble. That was the status quo of those books.

>>
>>89244128
>wtf was the point of final crisis? ...or infinite crisis... or crisis on infinite earths..

The point of Crisis on Infinite Earths was to get rid of the Multiverse, because the people in charge of DC in 1985 wanted to simplify the DCU.

The point of Infinite Crisis was to bring the Multiverse back, because it was 20 years later and the people in charge then thought the Multiverse was a cool idea.

The point of Final Crisis was what happens if Darkseid wins and finally gets the Anti-Life Equation. It had very little to do with the Multiverse.
>>
>>89244692
>The point of Infinite Crisis was to bring the Multiverse back,

Infinite Crisis didn't bring back the Multiverse, 52 did.Infinite Crisis did a spring cleaning of Earth 1 and reshaped it into NEW EARTH. Later on at the end of 52 it was revealed that the Multiverse was brought back and only 52 were left when Mr. Mind ate the rest.

Infinite Crisis was still the catalyst that caused the Multiverse to return. 52 was just where it was revealed that the Multiverse was back.

probably because it's been fucked with so much over the years.

Not likely a good thing for a multiverse when there are people in it capable of smashing the whole thing to bits with just their hands.

Not quiet. It was 52 exact duplicates had been made by Luthor in IC and then Mr Mind rampaged through them all eating bits and pieces of time and reality causing them all to become different.
>>
>>89248522

They really haven't clarified this, but I would agree that would be the suggestion - which is why some people (see thread above and other threads) think that CONVERGENCE fucked with the way Morrison laid out Mutliversity in the Guidebook.

>>89247123
>>89248482

Yes, as part of Justice Incarnate, we can presume this would be the Thunderworld version of Mary (or the version shown in the guidebook which is drawn and described the same as Thunderwold - e.g. Earth 5 as anon >>89247323 states).

And I don't think he'd instantly recognize that they're using a solid music ship even if he knows what's solid music. The other stuff was very brief, there was no reason to interrupt them to say something like "don't worry, I already know about this".

You don't need to start with the ZERO issue, those were specials they did after the #1s came out. You can probably find 17-18-19 on line or find the last trade at your local library if you live in the US (or you live somewhere the public libraries buy graphic novels).

You have to admit, Prophecy's design is pretty underwhelming for the big reveal. If he looked a little more... anything really, I'm sure people would have reacted differently.

Also, in a story that's basically one giant callback to previous stories, is it really wrong to expect a more recognizable villain?
