Alright, moving right along with our telling of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, eye of the world. This thread begins at issue 9, well into our story, 1-8 can be found in the following link
>>89185096
Alright, here we go!
God these wait times between posting are killing me
>>89209131
>God these wait times between posting are killing me
It sucks
>>89209131
Bumping...
Mat is such a wide eyed bumkin and Thom is so damn quick and cleaver
And this brings us to an end of issue 9, but do go anywhere, issue 10 is coming right up!
>>89209609
>listen here u little shit
Carful guys, there is prime waifu material in this issue
>>89209866
Some call me .....Tim
>>89209753
>>89209843
Is this a case of bad art direction/paneling, or is Wheel of Time just that dull when its not done with text?
>>89209979
I blame it on the art, Bal's eyes are just glowing, they are burning with fire and there is an inferno in his mouth when he speaks. As nice as the visuals are there, they artist kind of dropped the ball.
>>89210221
What the heck did they do to Best Girl, she's supposed to be a tomboy, not Indiana Jones
>>89210196
Bumping...
>>89209653
The kid's having a damn stroke in the third panel.
>>89210221
BEST GIRL

>>89210355
That's not how you spell Lanfear anon
>>89209949
I just read this chapter today
>>89210397
>wanting to stick your dick in crazy
I mean, not just regular crazy too, world-ending genocidal sort of crazy. Just not right
>>89210473
She just wants to rule the world with her husbando.
>>89210473
I can't help it anon, she's just presented so well in the books. I would have loved to have seen what would have happened had she been able to convince the Dragon to join her and kill the Dark One.
>>89210566
Trying to use the Choedan Kal to kill the DO sounds pretty world breaking to me 2bh
>>89210630
You can't make an omelet without blowing up a few eggs anon.
And this brings us to a close on issue 10, but stick around, 11 is right around the corner.
How is Lan going to manage all these waifus? Let's find out!
4th panel is good for a laughing reaction image
They should have added some of rand's inner lines here, the scene suffers a bit from it
>>89210759
>I want to fuck that braid
>>89210928you just know he tugs on that braid during their wedding night, and you know she just fucking loves it, but wouldn't dare say that aloud.
And just like that, Lan knew he had find a prime waifu.
>>89211031
It takes him a while to admit it.
>Muh War
>Muh Kingdom
I love it when they draw Moriaine's eyes hidden like this l.
Well, this looks nothing like I imagined.
>>89211247
Is that good thing? Or a bad thing?
>>89211298
I guess most adaptations aren't exactly what I imagined when I read the source material. Which, I'm sure, is true for most people. It's not a bad thing. Just a thing to get used to.
And we reach the end of issue 11, but don't worry, 12 (our final issue for the day) is coming right up!
>>89211426
I, at least, found the character looks close to what I imagined.
>>89209131
>fool for trying to eavesdrop on an Aes Sedai
Hah! Especially with this one. Potential spoiler:Moiraine's first use of the one power as a girl was for eavesdropping. She used the stone (which is just an ordinary gemstone) to help focus.
I was dissapointed in this
>>89210630
>>89210666
not to mention the part in the last book where it's revealed that killing DO would bring about a sterile, dystopian future
>>89211805
Yeah, I can't put my finger on it. Maybe I thought the skin would look more bloated/rotting, less human
They should have done this a little better, a good few panels showing Moriaine getting larger and taller would have helped a lot
And this marks the end of the story time today, be sure to come back tomorrow around 10 am Western Pacific for the continuation. In the mean time please feel free to keep the thread alive with discussions or even artwork that you find or draw yourself. And as always, thanks for reading!
>>89212346
>And as always, thanks for reading!
And thanks for posting, yo...
>>89212346
Thank you
>>89212346
gracias for this amigo
>>89211805
wow
me too, that's really, really disappointing
Not to mention kind of lazy, you can barely even tell he has No Fucking Eyes
>>89211876
I always imagined them as bald, with the eyeholes more sunken in. Also they were greyer
>>89211862
And this page is kind of ridiculous
>>89211958
good to know that even in RandLand, Moon Knight and his merry band of cosplayers patrol the streets
>>89212346
Thanks again, gleeman. This second batch has reminded me just how much I hate Moraine. The way she constantly berates and looks down on everyone for their ignorance while keeping the people she pushes around as blind as possible pissed me off to no end when I first read the book. Nynaeve is a real bitch but at least Moraine keeps her in check while there's no one and nothing there for Moraine. She's like the dungeon master's self-insert in a horribly micro-managed game of D&D.
>>89212959
She does do all that, but at least in the books I thought it was clear the characters resented her for it. At least at the beginning it's a play on the Gandalf archetype, and later on she gets farther from it
>>89213131
And the Aes Sedai in general try to control Rand as much as possible, until it bites them in the ass and they spend the rest of the books groveling before him.
>>89213131
I know they resented her for it. *I* resented her for it. On top of being just an unpleasant thing to have to read through for hundreds of pages Jordan also teases you with all these ideas that he has clearly fleshed out but since the main characters are kept ignorant the reader is also denied and expected to just keep reading and hope he comes back to it in another book. As a start to a series The Eye of the World lays down a ton of important groundwork but on it's own it somehow manages to feel drawn-out and rushed at the same time.
>>89212959
And yet she's still the best Aes Sedai out of all of them
Every woman in this series is an awful bitch
>>89213836
Verin is best Aes Sedai.
>>89212346
Thank you so much
It pleases me to find that, even after the storytime has ended the thread lives on. For all your collective thanks I return it tenfold for giving people to talk to about a series that it feels like I've been the only fan of for a decade. Again, thank you.
>>89214885
I've seen quite a few healthy threads in the last year on /tv/, of all places, though not quite as civil as this.
Mostly they talk about spanking scenes or that one time The Dragon strung up a bunch of corpses like marionettes with the One Power and made them bow to him
>>89215116
>/co/ is more civil than /tv/
Color me impressed, /co/ has dropped in quality the last few years, nice to know that we still have a few threads worth reading.
>>89215116
Rand, or anyone, forcing the Aes Sedai bow is something that needed to happen for a long time. They were too high on their own power and position for too long and needed to be reminded that before they ruled the people they served the people. /tv/ is trash though.
>>89215273
>/tv/ is trash though.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRCM0jWEQjQ
>>89213920
This
Bumping for good storytelling
>>89217483
Cool
Bumping for the anon who may still want to read this
>>89211268
Since I listened to the audio books so I never know how things are spelled, this is Rand being Taveiren right.
>>89223387
Seems like it, being so close to him tangled her's and Egwene's fates around to his own.
>that guy in the last thread dissing my waifus
You think I didn't see you
I saw you
>>89213798
I think that's kind of the point. The Aes Sedia are so arrogant and complacent and so convinced they are right about everything that even the one that's rebelling against the system is still a colossal bitch. It makes the way it comes back to bite them in the ass pretty satisfying in the end
I don't like the designs in this comic. Not unique enough.
>>89211805
Looks like a shitty glam rocker.
>>89210319
>>89210342
I found it kinda weird that Min basically just accepts that she's gonna suck his dick eventually.
>>89210866
Yeah he kinda just looks like an asshole here, and while it's been a while since I read the first book I'm pretty sure he's not really that crazy till like book 2.
>>89227656
He's in the first stages of touching saidin. It results in bits of dizziness and foolhardiness.
>>89218742
>Bumping for the anon who may still want to read this
This
>>89210319
I should know what all these mean but I don't.
>>89228310
It's a shame this particular production didn't go on any longer, because in the context of the first book only, they really don't mean anything
other than thewolfand theruined towersI guess
>>89228422
Maybe it'll come back for the TV show whenever that starts.
>>89209023
Rise
Seems like we're eager to get started, yes? Let's not delay another moment, here comes issue 13.
Sorry if this moves along slowly, this "strom" in Cali is playing hell with my Internet
Haaaaate how Thom looks here
>>89232355
Everyone looks weird, Rand's hair's funky, Matt's got a square head, Perrin's suddenly Hercules? Merrilin PI is also bad tho
>>89232413
None of the others bother me as much as Thom though, the others I can overlook, but Thom's change is so drastic
And this brings us to a close on issue 13, but don't go anywhere, because we have a damp good storytime today to eat our way through!
>>89231976
No Problem
In this issue, a wildBendisappears, let's hope these whelps can survive him.
And we end issue 14
>>89233262
>Did I fucking stutter
>>89233358
>>89233408
Egwene and Nynaeve swapping colours really confused me there
>>89212346
nooooo i crave more! ah but this is great, much obliged anon.
>>89233672
bruh
>>89233672
Well, you are in luck then anon!
We are just hurrying right along aren't we? This is This is a good way to kill time before my lcs opens
This has been great so far, OP. I've got an itch to reread the whole series again, even though it'll probably take me all year to do it.
>>89234318
Real happy you're enjoying the threads, if you don't feel like reading the books, the audio books are on YouTube, I've been listening to them driving to and from work this past week.
Wew, that was great, but get ready for the next issue!
There it is
>>89235592
And that ends issue 17, coming up, our final issue of the day.
Alsoit may just be a lighting effect, but Egewene is stacked in that first panel
>>89236566
bumpidy boo
And this marks the end of our story time today, I hope you all have been enjoying the comic and will return tomorrow around 10 am western pacific as we continue along! In the mean time feel free to use the remaining 8mage slots for the thread as we discuss the comic and world we have been reading about!
>>89236722
Image slots*
>>89236657
>>89236722
I always imagined this happening at night. Was I just totally ignoring the descriptions?
>>89236773
I can't imagine that there would have been so many people out and about during the night, the street suddenly clearing because of the halfman was pointed out deliberately in the book. It's just one of them things I guess.
>>89236722
Of course, little do the boys know thatthey're both Ta'veren, so anybody and anything useful to their fate gets dragged along in their wake, even when the odds against it are ridiculous.
>>89211805
I thought they were described as having faces that were as pale as a maggot. At least that's how I always pictured it, some eyeless albino thing.
>>89211890
Did they reskin Perrin's axe?
>>89237041
The different artists for the series all draw it differently, hell, look at Thom.
>>89235745
Don't do it Egwene, Aram is haram.
It's been a while but I remember this scene being more smug vs jelly in the book, not the lamest Jojo's Bizarre Adventure staredown.
>>89238247
Egwene is a slut
>>89236722
Thank you
>>89232413
Perrin has always been Hercules
>>89234458
They keep switching his axe from that one with the golden cross-shape in the middle, to the one with the gold spike. Consistantly one of those two.
>>89235440
Ahh, it's that fucking tower
Maybe it's the art, but this series isn't holding up for me nearly as well as I remember it as a kid.
Out of curiosity is anybody here reading this for the first time? What are your thoughts?
By the Light, I bump this thread in the Pattern!
>>89236722
Cheers, mate!
>>89232647
Bendis? The unholy abomination of paranoia? That Bendis?
>>89232860
God you weren't kidding
>>89245031
The very same!! But take caution! Do not utter the name so carelessly, lest you find yourself repeating your words, cursed to forever speak in his tongue until you are a shell of your former self. No, do not utter that name kind anon, for all our sakes.
>>89232880
Yeah Rand I bet there is enough treasure to replace that foam sword in your hand with a real one.
>>89245269
You mean Mat, he's the only one who gives any kind of a damn about the treasure.
>>89245500
I just thought the art was really weak in one of the panels so Rand's sword looked like a foam toy.
man i really feel like the transition from novel to comic made a lot of the problems with the story really pop to the forefront- so much talking but so much that needs to be talked about if what happens later makes any sort of dang sense.
I forgot how stereotypical the setup to this plot was.
if they switched from a medieval european aesthetic to a cooler one i'd like it a lot more- wheel of time with like a fantasy india aesthetic would be radical, and its already got some minor trappings and elements from eastern aesthetics and mythology
>>89245848
The art is super weak and Rand's sword does look like a toy, I was just pointing out that it was Mat who'd been talking about treasure. Please, continue to enjoy the comic and be sure to join us tomorrow as we continue along
the art really is all over the place. I'm enjoying this and I appreciate the upload, but at least one of the artists is doing something weird
like what the fuck is going on here >>89234458
and that guy who draws thom funny makes rand's hair look like a helmet
but I'm having fun seeing all the little references and foreshadowing dropped in early that I missed the first time through the books
By the Light, RISE!
>>89247928
you cannot do this. Not this!
>>89248174
Too late, whelp, it's already done, as it was before and shall be again, countless times !
bump from overseas
>>89245985
It's a problem with the comic; the Wheel of Time isn't actually medieval era, it's 16-17th century.
Mat is such a fucking shit
>>89252579
by book 8 or 9 he develops into probably the best major character
but then sanderson turns him back into a cartoon at the end
>>89252579
Mat is the best of the protagonists by a huge fucking margin.
>>89253713
>till book 8
>only on book 6
I can't last that long, I'm throwing in the towel
>>89255614
Doesn't take much to be the best in a pile of shit
>>89253713
Book 8 or 9?
I'd say he's the best earlier than that. As soon as they figure out it'sthe daggermaking him such a shit he starts fighting it and improving. And oncethe Aes Sedai break his bond to itin book 3 and he becomesthe luckiest man in the worldhis whole arc turns into a hell of a ride.
>>89255688
Although if you're on book 6 and you still don't like him you may just be shit out of luck. However, he's still got a lot ofarmy-leading, monster-fighting, and queen/empress-fuckingahead of him.
>>89256587
>get told not to take anything from city of ultimate evil
>take dagger because lol shiny
>best friend has to drag your ass across the countryside as they run for their lives
>finally get fixed
>immediately hostile to the people that helped you
>distance yourself from your childhood best friend who saved you from your own stupidity because "oh no dragon reborn"
>Literally have destiny immunity and need to help him or the world fucking dies, still act chickenshit
>jump into more fucking magic shit despite everything that's happened every time you did that
>end up almost killed and with dead men's memories
>best friend has to save your life again
>call him the crazy one when you're the one speaking in tongues and recalling shit you have no right to know every other time you open your mouth
Mat is the definition of an ungrateful pile of shit, the dagger has nothing to do with it.
Nobody fucking trusts each other in these books. It's like nobody has friends and is living on an island of their own ass-hattery, occasionally drifting by others to say "wow girls/boys are so silly" or some shit. The boys are all running around doing their own shit and fucking it up, and the girls are getting in catfights with each other about retardedly pointless nonsense. It feels so damn cold all the time.
I also feel like I'm reading some guy's personal magical realm with how often the seemingly domineering women are embarrassed, humiliated, collared, stripped naked or in shifts, or how often random chicks are described as "pleasantly plump" or with "shamelessly low" necklines. And I swear if I read about someone smoothing their skirt or how Nynaeve tugs her braid one more fucking time...
