What happened to Marvel, bros?
>>
Waitaminute, am I seeing this right?
Marvel is telling retailers to order a book wthout telling them anything about the fucking book? Just because they're Marvel?
The sheer arrogance.
>>
This might have worked if they did something like an ARG that hinted about what the book was in a way that generated buzz and reader interest in an organic and interesting way.
But they didn't, because they aren't making good choices right now.

Customers not retailers. That looks like a previews
>>

>Customers not retailers.
Everyone, really. Retailers have to submit orders for books and nobody knows what this $35 mystery book is about or who's working on it. Customers usually have a pull list if they're a steady or heavy purchaser and have to inform their retailers they want a copy. It's a complete clusterfuck, especially with lots of customer anger at the moment for Marvel's current products.

> sales drop

If Marvel's serious about crashing this industry with no survivors, there's only one correct answer.

>>89207041
He's not a retard for questioning Marvel's dumb practices, he's a retard for enabling them.
If he's truly losing money because of Marvel, if he truly can't sell their comics and if they keep sending him "free comics" that he apparently can't sell but has to pay the shipping for then why isn't he boycotting them? Bitching on twitter isn't going to solve shit, if he wants change then he needs to act. If he doesn't want change then he should shut the fuck up and stop complaining on twitter so much. Does he really think his twitter rants are bothering Marvel? They're getting paid to send him copies that apparently can't sell, if anything Marvel are laughing at him because he's talking about how Marvel is fucking him over and yet Marvel can sit back and laugh over the fact that they're getting paid to fuck this guy.
You need to stop with this "hur hur intern" meme because Marvel are fucking over the entire industry, even DC is making franchise vs franchise events now.

Hell, I'm not even saying stop selling Marvel at all, how about when that shipping if free comics comes, instead of paying for the shipping cost and the throwing the comics away, how about he says "no thank you" and they're sent back.

They could've lowered the cost by 50-60% and allowed returns. Their sales would improve.

Inflate numbers, cheat on the sales chart and build up the buzz that they're still #1. Remember that most comic book buyers don't even look at interviews from creators on an upcoming title they are interested in buying.
And there's also variant faggotry.
>>
>>89207401
>instead of paying for the shipping cost and the throwing the comics away, how about he says "no thank you" and they're sent back.

1. The "free" comics are bundled up with other comics that they need to sell.

And I liked it.

Why not, exactly? The series of events, as far as I know goes like this:
Waller tricks Bats into going to Santa Prisca
Waller goes into Batcave to steal some files.
Batman throes a shit fit because he got tricked and seeks his personal enforcers on the SS. He didn't even tell JLA about neck bombs(maybe he didn't know, I'm not quite sure about that, but he used one of them in the third issue).
>>

He said he can't move Marvel comics in general. Why do you have to defend Marvel's shit like such a bitch? Just take a break from ordering the comics of the company that you complain non stop is fucking you over. Or just order very little comics from them. It's better to sell out than have hundreds/thousands of unsold shit. If Marvel's fucking you over, then try fucking them back. If stores would try it, they could actually fuck Marvel because they rely on these stores to make money.
>>
>>89207848

Have you been in a comic book shop before?
Because people preorder comics, that's how they proximate how many they have to order months in advance.

First off they aren't officially called the Suicide Squad, they are known as Task Force X, Suicide Squad is just nickname. Secondly they arent called the Suicide Squad because of the neck bombs, they are called the Suicide Squad because they are a sent on missions with an extremely high probability of heavy casualties and if they fail they will be left to whatever horrible fates await them. Thirdly just because Batman is the worlds greatest detective doesn't mean he will uncover everything during the course of an investigation.

Talked to my retailer about the overships. He likes them. Free product, if he manages to sell a few it's extra money he didn't expect to get.

>>89208608
The thinking is, most retailers are ordering to what sells, so no shelf copies. Marvel is thinking sending free extra copies means copies on the shelf for a potential buyer to see and maybe buy. I get the logic, you can't sell a copy of Nova to someone wandering in looking around and there are none on the shelf.

Most customers don't ask either. They walk in, look around. Don't have it? They just walk out without saying a word.

As for Marvel "manipulating the sales charts", nobody cares about those except some people on here. Retailers don't care as those numbers mean nothing, just their store sales do. And the numbers are in no way accurate, they are just U.S. Diamond accounts, and all numbers are extrapolated based on surveys to a few retailers to guess the total orders. All Diamond gives out is a percentage of sales against that month's Detective Comics (or Batman, I forget which).

Yes, numbers are fascinating and it's nice to know how well your favorite books are doing, but it is not indicative of everything. Some books are filling a niche or perceived need, like all the female lead books Marvel is trying to push. Creative team costs vary per book. I'm sure Jim Lee's art costs more than Erica Henderson's.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. I tend to forget about that one do to the sheer volume of good decisions Marvel made during that period which counteracted their stupid and awful.

That really makes me think. Marvel has always been up to shady, stupid shit, but the quality of their stories and characters have always made people forget and forgive them. Are we finally entering a period where Marvel's new stories and characters are so bad that people are finally waking up? Perhaps this will force Marvel to stop taking for granted the fact that they're Marvel and maybe put some effort into their comics again?

Fuck no. Of course it won't. We don't live in a universe that fair. All aboard the hype train as every X-Men member is replaced with a legacy nonbinary transotherkin shoe-folk with three moms just in time for the new summer event House of Ms.

As in two Ms. Because its their second House of M. Because Marvel has no other ideas than minority legacy characters and milking events. That's the point I'm making here.

OK, this is sarcasm, right? Because you guys do know that DC is on the fucking ropes, just spent huge amounts on trying a different distribution method, lost a lot of money doing it and basically wiped out any cash reserve they had, and is probably going to get downsized real soon unless they can get their actual sales up, permanently?

You can't justify the cost of producing 80+ titles a month with the sales DC is getting of late. They've seriously fucked themselves.

The only good news is that their demise is a slow and painful one which means when they pull out of publishing they're probably not going to be depriving the LCS they sell through too much merchandise or associated income.

Please, please just stop this crazy talk of DC saving anything. DC couldn't save a jpg in Paint with a wizard.

>>
>>89219618
DC is doing pretty good. Sales are consistent and strong and double shipping is working out well for a majority of titles. Digital they're slaughtering Marvel every week, and they still have a stranglehold on the trade market.
>>
>>89219618
>just spent huge amounts on trying a different distribution method
What different distribution method? You mean the returnability? That was just a temporary thing (6 issues for the twice monthlies and 3 for the monthlies) so retailers could take a chance on Rebirth. and it worked out spectacularly, with most issues getting 2nd, 3rd or even 4th printings.
>You can't justify the cost of producing 80+ titles a month with the sales DC is getting of late.
Then Marvel must be doubly fucked considering they put out more titles than DC, sold way less copies and then sent retailers a bunch of free copies to hide the fact they're selling so badly.

This. I might just be a huge normalfag for this, but Punisher is one of the few characters whose issues interest me at all. Funny thing too, considering the finite number of ways you can make a "Nam/Gulf War vet goes postal on crime" story. Though that's probably just because he's one of the few characters left untouched in Marvel's latest round of reboots and canon retcons. His stories just do it for me. I'm more of a Death Wish man than an Unbreakable/Hancock man. They're still enjoyable films, but that's not the point.

Why does Marvel suck so god damn much, bros?
What's going to happen when RDJ gets sick of making children's movies (or just kills himself) and the MCU fad passes? What are they going to do?

Nah, there's always definitely been an appeal to Frank.

Also, the fact that he triggers Whedon just makes me like him more.

Great taste right there.
>>
>>89224598
They don't have to, no. But since they won't order it, that is potential sales both they and Marvel will be missing out on.
>>
>>89224794
What if their marvel sales are so low that they can take the hit? In the long run they'd end up hurting Marvel and maybe teach them a lesson.
>>
>>89212389
Marvel makes comics? I thought they just printed the rough draft of their story boards for test audiences to get a gauge on where they need to take the next movie.
>>
>>89224822
Marvels own business practices are hurting Marvel. Retailers just want to do what is gonna help them make sales.

Retailers are sick of Marvels shit, but they WANT Marvel to do well. Just about everyone does
>>
>>89224822
the problem for retailers is that they have to keep the flopies that dont sell and that is money that is just siting there

The entire concept is uninteresting past a certain point, you can only read so much "he fights crime but it's down to earth and gritty" before it gets boring. Hence, anyone who enjoys it is someone who hasn't experienced much of life.

A great many of the oft cited "greatest punisher runs/moments" are edgy schlock.

>Hasn't read Frankencastle

Not all Punisher books need to be street level. He's part of the Marvel Universe and can get involved in some pretty interesting stuff which Frank sees very differently from 99% of the superhero community..
