The reason that cats need meat so badly, isn't just a protein thing, but a taurine thing.

Cats don't make their own amino acids, and taurine is one of those important ones. Without Taurine (most often found in Meat) (but also found in supplementary doses --> derived from beef) cats would go blind and their oral health would deteriorate.

Long story short, cats large and small NEED meat, or they will die, or live terrible lives.
