reminded me how the good the entire series was when it delved more into world building and additional characters

I kind of wish Galactic had been made, if only to see where they would have gone with it.

It was a very well done movie. While it was blatantly obvious at the start of the movie that Numbah 0 was Nigel's father, the fact that the Delightful Children were really Sector Z was kind of a surprise to me as I hadn't really put any thought into it. It was rough seeing the rest of Sector V not really do anything when the point of the movie is that no man is an island, but it was understandable since it was about Numbah 1 realizing it himself. I was legitimately angry that Father didn't have a chance to shine, but again I have to admit it's more in his character to have not tried to take on Grandfather. Monty's speech at the very end is a permanent tearjerker.

I wonder if there were ever any ideas to revisit this? It would've been nice to see Sector Z fully restored, or at least an episode focusing on the KNDs efforts to do so.

Loved this series as kid. I knew how corny it was but loved it anyway.

The creative weapons and villains, locales and missions made it a highlight of my week.

It was shown on this local kids variety show every sunday but it didn't show at a fixed time so had to suffer through the hosts waiting for KND to come on.
>>
>>89139019
I wasn't 100% satisfied with how the series ended but am glad it knew when to bow out.

By the last season it was so focused on Numbuh 1 and the KND organization rather than Sector V as a team.

It seemed like they were going to the Moonbase for every mission briefing. I remember being amazed when they would actually show up at the Sector V treehouse. The episode where it gets destroyed was amazing.

I loved the whole splinter cell plot and found it super creepy and intriguing. I wish they'd gone through with it rather than the confusing twist about Galactic KND and that growing up is a disease?

Operation GROWUP blew my 10 year old mind.

It was the first 'season finale' I ever experienced since all the cartoons I watched at the time were typical episodic shows.

>Meeting father after all that foreshadowing
>Delightful Children using the age changing cigar found in CABLE TV
>Commercial break cliffhanger with Treehouse completely destroyed
>Numbuh One turned into an adult
>The team breaking in to the mansion to steal the cigar back
>Numbuh One showing up to save them
>Father isn't just silhouetted but actually an all black pyromancer
>Numbuh One taking the highroad and not aging the Delightful children out of existence
>That end credit sequence rebuilding and the final shot of the treehouse

KND had the best fan forum I've ever been a part of. Of all things, KND!

I've seen boards for much more popular shows that were no where near as active as this one was. I don't know what is was. Maybe more popular shows are more spread out across the net but KND was niche enough that every fan flocked to this one proboards forum.

Every night it was active, over all the different sections of the board. Discussions about episodes, characters, ships, fanart, torrents. Those were halcyon days.

I remember when Operation ZERO came out and the board went into absolute overdrive.

Or when the show was ending and there was a thread thread about 'Will you stay when it's over?'. Of course the board all said they would but it was like when you promise all your school friends you'll stay in contact when you leave.

Did anyone read the KND production blog back in the day?
http://kidsnextblog.livejournal.com/

Shit was dope. Every week a new post about behind the scenes stuff. It was THE source for news when ZERO was coming out.

I wrote an email with a list of questions to MR Warburtons email listed on the blog and was stoked to get an reply answering my questions. I'm sure it's still there in my old old email account.

I signed my real name but also my Numbuh from >>89151108 the forum, Numbuh 74
yes, I was pissed when they introduced Numbuh74.239 who was a huge dork

And Christmas that year, Mr Warburton posted this drawing of Numbuh One with a 'nice' list and all the names of fans and regular commenters on the blog were on it, including mine! I was beyond stoked.

I would have traded so much just for a proper continuation of that buildup. Like holy fuck, Grandfather's face when Father powered up like that was the epitome of "ohhhhh shit, I'm fucked", and it would have been so fucking satisfying.

It's been fucking years and I still have sour grapes over that cop-out.
>>
To add a bit of conversation is there any real reason that CN would have for not green lighting the series? I mean I understand why we would be hesitant to have it come back what with CN's current track record but what about CN? The show was immensely popular back when it aired and the fandom is still around today and new generations are being introduced to the old show as well, so the support for it coming back is there but CN still won't green light it, why?
>>
>>89139885

>They send him to space instead of making it happen

FUCK
>>
>>89143111
yeah that was a rare misstep.

>>89154427
Father at least trying would've helped rebuild his villain cred for his last hurrah at the series finale when he pulls one last surprise out of his hat, turning into a fucking dragon.

We STILL don't really know what Father is, despite knowing his background, or the source of his evil powers. That's pretty cool.
>>
>>89155354
Could you fucking imagine it, though? They could have still done the "put Grandfather in the decommissioning chamber" resolution, but it could have come about by taking advantage of Grandfather being distracted by fighting Father, and they could show Father beating the fucking shit out of Grandfather and Grandfather pulling out each and every stop just to defeat his so-called worthless son. Hell, even if Grandfather ended up cheating by having one of his zombies hit Father in the back of the head, just showing that Grandfather had to resort to dirty tricks just to win would have given Father back so much of the respect he lost over the series.
>>
>>89155469
Yeah, you wouldn't have had to change anything but add a fight scene.

Which, y'know, its a movie and budgets are tight, but that would've been cool. Father and Monty working together to distract Grandfather until the moon hit him would've been amazing.
>>
>>89155354
that was always a slight disappointment for me, I mean I loved the movie it was fantastic but I do wish they gave Father a badass moment there

Yeah, but Father not standing up to Grandfather fits better with the theme of the series about children vs adults. Even if he grew up to be more powerful than Grandfather, Father was so utterly damaged by his childhood that he still doesn't bother to fight back - he's exactly the type of people the KND were made to prevent. He's not only evil, he also has a subservient relationship to his elders.
>>
>>89145442
It was honestly a pretty good show just for the depth of settings. Wild west where they mine for chicken nuggets? Gladiatorial underground fight club where the prize is root beer? Heart Of Darkness style jungle exploration in the Jungle Gym? Tibetan Mountain monastery quest for mythic ice cream flavor?

This show was pretty damn awesome, and a lot of it tickled my longing to be an Explorer.

KND was the absolute master of this.
>>
>>89155011
I don't have any numbers to show how it did in the ratings but it always seemed like it did well but not THAt well.

For as many kids who liked it, there just as many who were instantly turned off by the premise alone.

CN seems more interested in original programming over continuing old series (and kudos to them for that)

and when they do revive an old series, they make it something like PPG which was always one of their most popular shows

and they usually make so many changes fans wish it would've just stayed dead. PPG, Teen Titans Go, etc.

plus, it has been forever since the show ended. I feel like a lot of their viewership wouldn't know what KND is.

Father was so cool when I was a kid.

In season 1 the DC just mention him a couple of times
>We have to be going or Father will be positively furious
and I wondered what kind of parent raised those kids. I thought maybe he'd just be oblivious like all the other parents in KND.

Then in GROWUP we see him for the first time and think he's merely hidden by shadows sitting in his chair but in the climax we find that he is actually an all black sillhouette with fire powers. The part where he shouts 'you ought to be FIRED' and his head grows horns freaked me out! Like you said what IS this guy?

It was great whenever he showed up again, I think the first time after that was op TRAINING and I shit my pants when he showed up.

After that they slowly started making him more comical which took away some of his mystique but I guess that's inevitable. They'd have to use him sparingly if they wanted to keep him as scary as he was.

I liked the origin in ARCHIVE where it was revealed he was the first parent to ever punish a child.

By the time ZERO came around he was complete joke and they had to introduce a bigger villain to usurp him.

>gets shown up by Grandfather
>eats ice cream in hi robe
>reveal what a dork he is underneath his silhouette suit
>VERY, VERY, VEEERRYYY....
>aaw forget it

The finale made up for it slightly with him being full on rage mode after Numbuh One stole his pipe.
>>
>>89155469
Father was so badass when we first meet him and by the time ZERO happened had all but become a comic relief villain, like all the others.

A big Dragonball Z style fight with Father using his fire powers to battle Father and his green deathy powers would've been amazing.

None of the other kids wanted to play KND with me. Honestly feels bad man.

I even made a couple homemade weapons. One was your basic rubberband gun, another one I was pretty proud of used a Hot Wheels car launcher to shoot toy cars as projectiles. I made a loading belt that went over your shoulder to hold as much 'ammunition' as possible and a stock to hold onto.

I tried making a ketchup gun like on the show but it didn't shoot very far and essentially just watched ketchup.
