Came here to say this, for a supposed comedy, it gets grimdark as Fuck. More because you like the characters. A big failing of "The boys". It also does the "normals uprising against superheroes" much better than the boys in Thugboy's backstory, while the boys just cops out by giving Butcher's crew the superhero pill.
