Not only is it fun in itself to see him punch Tyrian in the face, it ties in nicely with the point about how Ruby is overly reliant on Crescent Rose. We actually see that a trained hunter can do without their weapon, whereas Ruby (so far) invariably flounders without hers.

It was stupid. Tyrian showed agaisnt both RNJR and Qrow that he's very fast, has great awareness, and can even dodge and parry strikes without even looking at them. But he can't notice Qrow throw a slow punch at him. Even after getting punched, he looked at Qrow and allowed him to get his sword back. The fights in RWBy have issues with stupid pauses like that.

Speaking of all that, the worst part about Blake being the faunus land princess IMO is that it kills the idea that she lived a miserable street rat life before being driving to terrorism and still ended up being a decent person despite it.

With her, Weiss being Atlas high society and Ruby and Yang being the children of one of the top teams ever to come out of Beacon with prosperous hunter careers it means that RWBY all were born into lives of comfort supported by the system. While Cinder Emerald and Merc all grew up abused and stepped on by it. Effectively the good are rich and the bad are poor.

It makes the show look elitist.

Clearly, she keenly felt the injustices forced on her race by wider society and was willing to go up against people much better off than her. To me, that seems like someone fighting "the system".

Otherwise, that's an interesting point. And even if it has elitist implications, I enjoy the depth it's given to Emerald and Mercury. They really aren't two-dimensional villains thanks to their backstories.

I think it's people that had strong talents and aura but weren't born into a position to take advantage of it. She wants to topped the kingdoms and live like kings above all the hunters who wasted their talents dying for the overlords, who as we see in Atlas are actually kind of weak themselves.

But she has no love for the average citizen either, because they were too weak or couldn't bother learning to become strong themselves.

So effectively they want a might makes right world, where the strong live it up, the weak are Grimm food and nobody strong has to risk their neck to keep some auraless weakling alive.

This will make humanity die out long term, but I doubt these people care about anything beyond their own lifetime.
